Man this scene is great. Luffy trusting and heeding his first mate, who he knows is absolutely right. Luffy acknowledging this by basically replying: "YOU'RE RIGHT, AND WE SHOULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, BUT I WANNA COMPLAIN SO I'M GONNA COMPLAIN." Then the crew jumping on bagging on Zoro while following their captain's lead. And Zoro's response, feeling acknowledged, and then throwing that back at Sanji. Real, and just funny.
Zoro’s using the exact same reasoning Luffy used for Ace, as to why they shouldn’t worry about Vivi, but he seems to forget that Luffy was wrong to say that, considering Ace was locked up and awaiting execution. Naturally, Luffy’s going to dunk on Zoro for saying that, because for all he knows, Vivi’s about to meet the same fate, or could be stuck somewhere much worse.

There are too many unknown factors which is sort of Zoro's point, he's just keeping the focus on Luffy's own mentality. The biggest imo being that Luffy only made it to ID as fast as he did and as successfully, thanks to Boa and the marine ship. In hindsight it looks like the bad choice because we equate having more time to better results but it's not necessarily the case and there's a good chance it would lead to worse results. The key thing here is that Luffy had no context at TB and then got context of the situation on AL. Similarly, they currently lack context on the situation with Vivi.

Great seeing Zoro diffuse the situation by picking a fight with Sanji. And Luffy makes a good point that while Zoro is right about them not doing anything until it's definitely needed, the group should still be allowed to grief and make a fuss after just finding out what happened.
I love how when Zoro brought up Ace, Luffy immediatly understood Zoro's point, the best decisions are not always the easiest decisions, and that's is, in my opinion, one of One Piece core values.

@@lucky_lulu317 That's exactly the point. Luffy was still right in trusting Ace to handle his own problems, but in the end Ace was the one who got himself into such a hopeless situation. Luffy did everything he could when Ace actually needed help, and almost managed to do so. But Ace's decisions were what led to him being killed. It would be no different for Vivi in this case. When she actually needs them, they'll be there. Going in without a plan would only make things worse.

I love how Zoro acknowledges Sanji as a great rival by saying how it isn’t easy having a bigger bounty than him. It is still an insult but also a pretty cool compliment.
I love how Zoro is sometimes the voice of reason. Luffy is the captain, he can make the decision to see Vivi, Nami is the navigator, she can make that course. But Zoro, dude just said no and gave a good reason why, and then had the audacity to smile because he knew who to target for a distraction. He may not always be on point with directions, but he's not an idiot in this scene.
This is very reminiscent of when the crew left Vivi behind in Alabasta. Four-sword-style. Also love how Zoro only calls out Sanji despite the whole crew being on him lol
Did…did we all forget how “Leave Ace alone to have his own adventures” ended? Then we should definitely get Vivi! That being said, Zoro’s handling this a lot better than last time. Last time, everyone jumped my man Zoro when Vivi left. Now, he can at least single out Sanji. You reap what you sow, Sanji. For bragging about your bounty through all of Wano when all three guys ahead of you actually managed to damage an Emperor.
I think Luffy basically admitting Zoro was right and not looking offended was meant to signal that even though that happened, Luffy doesn’t regret his decision to continue on his own journey as compared to the option of making a beeline right to Ace
But ultimately Zoro added "until it was time to really rescue him," as a caveat. Because Luffy knew when to let Ace on his adventure and when to go help him. Just like this time where he's up to save Vivi... but only if it becomes clear that she needs saving.
To be fair, Sanji wipes Jinbe post germa enhancements. It's not even a fair fight. Still, doubtful he could beat Zoro, but they've always been mostly equals, with a moderate advantage on Zoro's end.

I think zoro actually kinda complimented Sanji by saying “it’s not easy being above you”. He’s acknowledging his strength and just using their bout to get the crew’s mind off of Vivi.
Zoro really is good at his job as first mate. Dude knows exactly when its his time to step up and lay down the law, and calm luffy so he doesnt fly off the rails.
Pretty sure not trying to save Ace was more underestimating how bad his situation was rather than just letting him have his own adventures. And considering Luffy failed to save Ace after deciding it's serious, not going after Vivi feels like potentially repeating the same mistake.
They could be, but they have no way of searching for Vivi at the moment, so they have no choice but to press on, for now. Also, minor spoiler, Vivi’s ok, for now.

Had they gone after him, they would have all died. When Luffy said that, Ace was already in Impel Down, they could have never got inside it, let alone face Magellan that would have killed them all in a second.

The Vice Captain keeping the Captain in line. This is what Beck does for Shanks. It's what Rayleigh was for Roger. Zoro's role is to be the "bad guy" for the crew.
Albeit the more that they kept arguing at Zoro, the more it proved that he is right. Practically all of what Zoro said in trying in attempts on "rescue" was right. It's not like they can go in reverse & go over the red line back to Alabasta or even know where Mariejois is from where they are now!!!!!!

From Usopp to rejoining the crew in Water 7 and now this. Give props to make 4 Strawhats stand down who wish to save Vivi when she is smart, and learned to be more clever if things go bad. I just realized after watching the end Alabasta arc again that this scene is a throwback to the time the same four (Luffy, Nami, Chopper and Sanji) complained about missing Vivi with Zoro stating they should have tried harder to keep her if they really wanted her on the crew
I’m seeing people in the comments tryin to pull up Ace. But here’s the thing. Ace didn’t die because Luffy didn’t step up sooner, he died because he decided to run back and fight Akainu at one of the WORST possible times.
And? His point holds. When he learned Ace was in trouble he said Ace has his own adventures. He only went after Ace after learning of his impending execution.
There is a whole other scene from the end of Alabasta where the crew despairs over Vivi and Zoro doesn’t care, then everyone insults him. I love the parallel, we see you Oda!

It's so refreshing seeing the straw hats interacting again in their typical heartwarming manner unlike their terrible/absent interactions during Wano Arc
Zoro's reasoning is on spot, the only place to begin investigating was Marijoa and if they had gone there this would have been worse than sabaody. Luffy maybe a yonko but he's still struggling against kizaru and they would had the admirals, the five elders and even imu (whose existence no one knows of) to face. And his reaction to the others was also great Luffy is reckless so its better he fuss over it then go do something dangerous nami and chopper are like siblings to him so he doesn't bother with their comments but response to sanji was awesome😂
But had they gone to Impel Down no way could the get past all 4 stages without some problems: the blue gorillas Lv1, all the wild beast of Hell Lv2, the starvation he'll (Chopper with wool on) Lv3, Burning heat Hell and Magellan Lv4. And if they escapes into teams; Nami, Usopp, Chopper with Bon Clay, Franky, Robin with Buggy and Mr. 3 and the monster trio into lvl 5 and 5.5, there be no way of knowing how much battle damage they can do or even take from fighting all the way down and back up to get a ship and head to Marine ford to watch ace died

Pretty sure not trying to save Ace was more underestimating how bad his situation was rather than just letting him have his own adventures. And considering Luffy failed to save Ace after deciding it's serious, not going after Vivi feels like potentially repeating the same mistake.
Plus, pre-timeskip, if Ace was in trouble, so would be the (then weaker) Strawhats.
They could be, but they have no way of searching for Vivi at the moment, so they have no choice but to press on, for now. Also, minor spoiler, Vivi’s ok, for now.
@@Kaisona2017 Very true, but Zoro never brought that detail up. Just the idea that Vivi can handle herself and should be allowed her own adventures. Just felt weird he used the same logic as Ace when that choice wound up being underestimating his fate.
Had they gone after him, they would have all died. When Luffy said that, Ace was already in Impel Down, they could have never got inside it, let alone face Magellan that would have killed them all in a second.

Whenever things get real, Zoro always seems to be the one talking sense to the rest of the crew.
From Usopp to rejoining the crew in Water 7 and now this. Give props to make 4 Strawhats stand down who wish to save Vivi when she is smart, and learned to be more clever if things go bad. She's not the same worry wart princess who wanted to throw herself into a bad situation for her kingdom sake, she'll take over her dad's place as a cool head queen

Ace didn’t die because Luffy didn’t step up sooner, he died because he decided to run back and fight Akainu at one of the WORST possible times.

Zoro's reasoning is on spot, the only place to begin investigating was Marijoa and if they had gone there this would have been worse than sabaody. Luffy maybe a yonko but he's still struggling against kizaru and they would had the admirals, the five elders and even imu (whose existence no one knows of) to face.
And his reaction to the others was also great Luffy is reckless so its better he fuss over it then go do something dangerous nami and chopper are like siblings to him so he doesn't bother with their comments but response to sanji was awesome😂

To be fair, there’s a possibility ace would still be alive if Luffy HAD interfered with Ace’s adventures beforehand.
But had they gone to Impel Down no way could the get past all 4 stages without some problems: the blue gorillas Lv1, all the wild beast of Hell Lv2, the starvation he'll (Chopper with wool on) Lv3, Burning heat Hell and Magellan Lv4. And if they escapes into teams; Nami, Usopp, Chopper with Bon Clay, Franky, Robin with Buggy and Mr. 3 and the monster trio into lvl 5 and 5.5, there be no way of knowing how much battle damage they can do or even take from fighting all the way down and back up to get a ship and head to Marine ford to watch ace died

Except he said he left ace to do his own thing UNTIL he needed help. Plus Luffy succeeded. Ace was a moron. Ace was free, Whitebeard called a retreat. That should of been that. But akainu played Ace. He knew calling whitebeard a loser, a second placer, etc etc would cause Ace to be an idiot and challenge him. All Ace did was get Whitebeard and other members of his crew killed
