Everytime you watch tommy emmanuel playing you can see his whole soul dancing. This is what music should do to you!
at the end, when he catches the strings and looks at the camera - a feeling of accomplishment swept over me. i could feel his accomplishments, born out of years of dedicated, hard work and natural talent, in that one look. what an amazing musician he is.
Wow! When you said you'd heard Chet play this in 1962, I nearly choked. It was 1962 when I heard Chet play it and fell in love with it, and it was the driving force that led me to learn how to fingerpick a guitar.
I was 18, in college, a good pianist, but just tinkering with and learning the guitar. Chet was my idol, and Windy and Warm just grabbed me. I *HAD* to learn how to play it like he did, which meant conquering Chet's version of the "Travis style." I obsessed with it for most of a year, and one morning I woke up and knew, and I grabbed my guitar, and my thumb and fingers suddenly knew how to work together! I'll not ever forget that day that I actually played Windy and Warm "Chet's way" for the first time.

Hi Tommy I'm a guitar player in the Florida keys and a friend of mine who's a leap year Richard Smith a house gig and it dropped my jaw. He played some Beatles songs as well. I hear what you're saying I spent a big portion of my youth learning James Taylor songs and I agree with your statement about the Beatles and the stones. I also I'm a giant Lyle Lovett fan. And by the way you're one of the finest players I've ever watched pluck 6 strings. Never heard you do anything with lyrics but of course I'm just recently out of the hospital after having a seizure and have spent some time listening to you.

It’s amazing how one song can be interpreted so many ways, and now it’s almost 60 years later and it’s still inspiring. Tommy changed my life for sure, after searching many years playing guitar, I finally found a path to Persue, and now the acoustic guitar can never be looked at the same again.

That infectious groove and those exquisite bends make this a great performance.
I could go around all day and bob my head to this groove. I’m puzzled by how Tommy manages to keep a steady groove going while doing bends that seems like they have all the time in the world. A masterclass in performing and very inspirational.

@@mikylenaidoo1779 He made it to be like one that Tommy had worn out per Tommy's request if i remember correctly. I was really young at the time. My dads guitars are DT guitars. Someone else has started making some under that name too. My dads are Acoustic only. Muriel Anderson has a few from my dad for a little more reference. I don't think he is taking anymore orders though. You may be able to find one second hand online.

@@mikylenaidoo1779 He used to. Some other maker who makes electric guitars has the domain now. Like I said he isn't taking orders anymore and hasn't for a long time. So you would have to find one second hand.
If you google search DT guitars and go to images, look for the symbol of a D with a T going through it at the head of the neck. Thats the symbol he put on his guitars.
His name is David Taylor. I've been looking for one online for awhile now but everything I've found has already sold. His guitars are top quality so most people don't want to let go of them.

I have been a professional guitarist for over twenty years. I honestly find it embarrassing that I have only discovered Tommy in the past few months. He is the most amazing guitarist I have EVER come across, that includes players like Chet Atkins, Hendrix, SRV, or whoever else you could mention. And to boot, Tommy is as sweet and humble as they come. Absolutely incredible! God bless him.

This song is very sentimental to me. I had an instructional 33-1/3 LP that was called "Play Along With Chet" back the early 70's. Windy and Warm was one of the songs taught on this album along with Nine Pound Hammer. I was amazed that I could fumble through these songs and almost play like Chet. You are awesome Tommy!
