Thanks Trevor, the girls seem to have a different perspective on the operation and it is interesting to see a field opened-up from the center - I guess it's so the grain carts can reach the combines? I'm glad you're involved in the harvest again, I have a feeling you would be lost without it!
@@TrevorStruthers yep makes it far easier and efficient to open up a field in the middle for grain carts with multiple combines. We do it mostly with corn fields with higher bushels.
Great video Trevor. I like that you have your helper doing some interviewing. She does a great job. Good drone work and mixing the drone with the interview. I am looking forward to visiting.
Bailey is a good operator. Good catch on the engine coolant temperature before it gets to the red overheat range. You guys are cutting some really good wheat. When the combines are running slower speeds that’s always a good sign. Too bad the wheat prices are horrendous.
Like your videos. Lot of people don't know what it takes to farm in that area. Was wondering if you ever met a guy named Lincoln Cooper. Everyone called him kiwi because he was from New Zealand. he was well known in the Prescott area
I do not. I asked around to a few people and they werent familiar. I will continue to ask though! It is a small area. I know a pineapple and he is from Hawaii. It's surely a thing. lol.
@@TrevorStruthers I'm sure if you went to the tuxedo and asked around you would here some stories. He was a good guy and had a lot knowledge about farming. Wished he was still around because he would be watching your videos and and tell me all sorts things especially about the sky rocket's he had a lot experience with that area
@@timbermccarty6599 I will ask around the next time I am there. Normally it would be up the street but I moved 20 miles and one county over to Columbia County. I believe you though.
It varies wildly based on soil type, direction the hill is facing, and of course moisture. Average rainfall per year is under 20 inches in places here. Moisture is what stops us from having 150 bushel wheat. It grows great on hills but the average is like 70. This year its about 100 or more where these guys are
Flatland harvester here, watching ya'll makes ours look so easy. Our trucks a a little more difficult as we are much taller, 4,5,and 6 axle dump trailers, but definitely need more field skills out there. Thanks subscribed as am interested in seeing more. Have a good day Al
Thank you Al and welcome to the channel! Thanks for subscribing. We got a lot of flatland farmers in the comments and a few out here in the fields! I will be putting out a video about my brother in law from OKlahoma who drives a combine over some crazy hills
No, its not the same people. These are the guys from the seeding peas video. My old employers are cutting their way to Columbia County right now though. Im working for a different farm than this one here. My cousin works for this outfit full time.
The combines have air screens with auto cleaners but the tiny particles make it through. I almost got beat up once for blowing one out too late at night. In my previous videos theres one about a hunter telling me not to farm where i was cleaning it out. 114 degrees today here
This is another local farm that is based in Dayton in this video. I work for the Mead Ranch now out in starbuck. Our harvest videos are coming soon! There'll be a hillside John Deere and a flatland Gleaner (leaner) cutting around on some hills.
@@AnthonyJonas-eh4fu Damn! Well now you know. Yeah, i like to go straight up and straight down the hills so that the bankout doesnt jack knife me or tip over. I dont have a jake brake on my tractor so i gotta go extra slow. Im sure you learned your lesson. I was told by the best bankout driver i know that if you arent scared of what youre doing you will get in trouble. Stuff happens and as long as you learn from it, you will figure it out.
My families farm is around 3200 hectares and only half is cultivated each year. Half is left fallow to rest and half is planted. Some of it is in CRP so that isnt farmed. Its grassland.

Looks like you are doing a good job driving the cart.
Awesome scenery. I can't imagine operating equipment on such grades. Kudos to you for a job well done!
Excellent video Trevor, thanks.
Thanks John! A bit outside of the norm, but we are attempting to document what is happening.
Excellent video Trevor, thanks.
Thanks Bel
Awesome video again love the radio talk sounds like our harvest here in Kansas beautiful country want to come and visit during a wheat harvest 👍😀
Most operations where its steep would give a ride to another farmer who was interested in experiencing the difference! You get used to it, eventually.

We call it cutting from the inside out and yeah, its too make it easier on the bankouts so they dont have to race around the edges to get to us.

Great job on opening the Hill tops safely done for everyone
Thank you!
Looks like some good wheat in the mid rain fall of Columbia Co.
Great show.😊😊
Its a good year! Not as good as 22 but its a good crop despite el niño
Nice to see some new blood being trained and a different view from the bankout.
Very pretty too
@@andytaylor1055 yeah that tractor is pretty! Don’t know about cute though.

Thanks you very much!

Yeah Bruce, we are looking forward to you coming out here. Well get you out on something steep, even if its just in a service pickup. :)

6 dollar wheat is the word of the day. Everyone is not happy with that in the current economy
great video, grain cart operator is cute also !
Great Video trevor, excellent look at a bankout drivers life, thanks for sharing
You bet, i was hoping you would like to ride along with the other drivers. My girlfriend has a better idea on questions than me.
That was a really cool video Trevor. Thank you. Starting our barley harvest tomorrow (in the UK)
Good luck! I hope its a good year for you guys there too.

What kind of yield do y’all typically see on the hills? The fact y’all can farm some of that is amazing to me!

The beautiful and charming female tractor driver is the attraction 😍
Lol christian. They are here for the combines as well.
Is this the same outfit you worked for last year?

Wouldn't you think these expensive machines would have a fan in front to blow debris from radiator and transmission cooler?
The combines have air screens with auto cleaners but the tiny particles make it through. I almost got beat up once for blowing one out too late at night. In my previous videos theres one about a hunter telling me not to farm where i was cleaning it out. 114 degrees today here
Some have reverseing fans on them to help keep the rads cleaning longer... but fine particles get thorugh no matter what and start to build
