I really love how you stressed that a project like this will take time - so much of the content on UA-cam (at least what I've watched and have been shown via algorithm) makes me feel all kinds of consumerist pressure. Thank you for being real about being on a budget and about your space not being 100% what you want it to be and that's 100% ok. Perfectly curated spaces are something to aspire to, sure, but it's not realistic for a lot of us. Your space is lovely, thank you for sharing it with us!
So well put! Not all of us can throw out the things we already have to make the house look 'mid-century modern' or aesthetically pleasing and afford all things IKEA.
What a lovely space with so much character! I love your honesty about not liking your space and the budget being limited. Your imagination really went to work and it all worked out lovely. I love thrifted item and I would do the same if I had shops where I live but. I don’t. That’s ok, I will enjoy yours. Thank you for this video!
Dark rooms can get really cozy with warm fairy lights! Also you could switch the room that's your bedroom with the dungeon since when you're working you want it to be bright and inviting and when you're sleeping you want it to be dark and cozy 😊
The best decorated homes happen over time, ideally they are always a work in progress as the home owner evolves their surroundings reflect their evolution. Sounds like I know what I’m talking about.. right? Loved the vid! You are very talented! 😎
You should hang a huge mirror in the studio/dungeon/sewing room on the opposite side of the window, that will reflect the light and the room will get brighter :)
I was going to say the same thing! and maybe a couple other mirrors to help distribute the natural light around as much as possible. Hopefully she sees it and it helps!
I'd recommend window film for the window in your studio. It's very inexpensive and is attached to the window with water from a spray bottle. It's like having a sheer curtain on the window. It still lets in plenty of light but hides the outside. We had to get some because our dog barked at anything that moved. I have plants by my windows and needed the light. This film worked perfectly. We have the frosted and the kind that looks like rain (??). It peels right off with no damage and can be used over and over. You can also cut designs in it if you still want to see what's going on outside. Great job on your apartment!!
It's so so pretty! I love the boho chic vibe, super relaxed. Kudos for buying thrifted, it takes talent and time to achieve that. Anyone can shop a furniture store and go deep into debt for a cookie cutter home, but yours is you. Well done!!!
This is fantastic. Thrifting, inheriting and DIYing reflect personality IMO. The objects I have give me joy because they are different. By different I don't mean it's less common, I mean quirky, funny, joyous, novel, odd etc your apartment is cosy and lovely. I adored your red couch chair but I also love the one you have now. I think you have style.
I love your apartment; it is decorated with a style that is artist like. I love it. Natural with pops of color without being overdone. It is light and airy; with enough warmth it is cozy. You did well. You should be proud of yourself. Love it.
You are so creative and so clever! Thank you so much for the inspiration. I've also been living in my apartment for a year and haven't really felt at home. The fact that you're moving out soon and still did this really motivates to do my best with what I have and make the most of my space, regardless of how long I'll be here!
I think it looks great!! I try to buy most of my things second hand, so I appreciate it when others do. Especially those with a platform to reach people and inspire them!
It looks really nice! Very cozy 💞 I wanted to share this with you, always close your toilet lid. If you leave the top up, the toilet water can splash out even tiny droplets onto things close to it. Especially toothbrushes. I know it sounds super nasty but it is true. It's nice to see other people recycling or upcycling. It really does look very nice! 💞
I love this video! especially the part emphasizing the time it takes to thrift your decor! It is basically the only way I decorate and I almost never want to buy new furniture because of how fun it is
Love all the thrifted stuff in your family room! Your family room art wall looks good but also that rattan bookshelf in your office would look great in that space and add some height in that corner and a spot to put art and plants and pretty books. Then you could get something like a credenza/buffet for the long wall in your office (where the rattan bookshelf is now) for storage and to put shelves above and a lamp on. Homes are always a work in progress! :)
oh my gosh the yellow velvet chair!!! And the Chesterfield!!!! I'm always so amazed at your finds, great job (except for the plant of course, but that was funny so thank you for killing it).
Wow, what a transformation. Your space looks so cute and homey now, and I love that you did this all on a budget. Anyone can drop a lot of money on a bunch of new things, but doing it slowly over time, as you find good deals on unique items , takes effort and creativity! Are you kind of sad now that you will be moving soon? It is such a sweet space.
Your video really came alive from 11:55 on with your "motivational speech". 😊The artwork you displayed has made your home so beautiful, interesting, and unique. Thanks for sharing your design journey with us.
Lol thanks for the motivational speech. I wanted to make a room/apartment makeover series when I moved into my new place but it became way too stressful trying to acquire stuff and not put it up yet so that I could get the full ~effect~ of the before and after so o gave up. Seems like everyone makes it seem like they do it all in a day! I’m still working on it..... 4 months later
Your thrifting spidey senses must be off the charts, your pieces are all so pretty!! I was really hoping to find out if that white kitchen cabinet was thrifted or not, it's so gorgeous!!
Have you thought about shortening your curtains so that they brush the floor? you could maybe do it with like a foot high hem if that makes sense, so that you save all the fabric in case you reuse the curtains and need the length back!
The dungeon room would be a great dining room! Not like the formal kind, but the kind where you do work and do projects at the table, but only set it up like a real dining table when you have visitors. I had a room like that before with a sideboard for storage and a table and chairs, and it was great!
That little table with drawers next to your bed is so perfect 😯 I used to have something like that and I'm sad I don't have it anymore bc I'd add those handles
This was awesome! It definitely re-inspired me to keep thrifting! I can't want until the thrift stores reopen I can keep working on decorating my space.
for the dungeon room you should put the tartan bookshelf where the weird little chest n shelf where by the window n then place your desk in the middle of the other area so you’re looking out to the window but use up more of the space. you could also put a cute arm chair by the window or on a corner behind the desk
Absolutely loved the apartment tour. Died laughing about the palm plant 😂😢 Way cooler place that you put together OVER TIME with interesting & unique pieces rather than just going out and buying some generic “room in a box” look. Well done!! 👍🏽💃🏽💃🏽 I know I get frustrated that my own apartment isn’t instantly perfect overnight...appreciate you sharing your PROCESS ☺️
I love it!!!! It looks comfy like a good place to chill out read a book, become inspired, have coffee or tea with a friend, more importantly your place looks fresh & clean. I would like to take a nap😴 Congratulations 🥳🥳👍🥂
Love what you did, I have a suggestion for your mirror above your sofa. Place it horizontal, it would look better with the shape of your sofa. Also use the round mirror somewhere else in your home ,to tie your decor in an other part of your home.
Girl I am almost 70. Your place is cute. I have learned that it takes time to make a place home and it is fun to go on the hunt for things.I love thrifted. It to mecis bettet than cookie cutter that looks like everyone else.oh and you know there is nothing wrong with fake planrs. Some look really real and you can actually find some at thrift stores. Not everyone has a green thumb.you did good
Have to say, your decorated space looks nice. I've only decorated at second hand store's, and love it! You can find awesome decor there. I'm new to your channel, enjoyed it very much.
You thrifted that teapot with with copper jacket?! That’s a find! I tossed that sucker on my amazon wedding registry thinking it was a fancy electric kettle, which justified the $120 price tag in my mind. It’s a great tea pot-I laugh at myself every time I use it-but so spendy!
I used to have a terrible time keeping my plants alive when I lived in Ohio-- especially in the winter. Buy a humidifier!! Ohio winters are so dry.. so no matter how often you water the soil, the leaves still end up drying out and looking like total shit. I bought like a midsized one and ran it on a low setting in my living room (room with highest plant population). It completely revived all my half dead tropical plants and I can report they're still kicking to this day. Btw your place looks great and makes me miss Ohio :)
So funny, after my roommate moved out a few years back I wanted to recreate the space. The first thing I through out was that exact same red rocker !!! 🤣😂 what are the odds. I’m subscribed 👍🏾
OMG the moment you went into my salvation army!!! Where do you find all your amazing items? I currently live in Loveland (20 minutes north of Norwood) and I haven't had much luck AT ALL with home decor in thrift stores near me

Thank you for this video!
In the dungeon room, put that big mirror opposite the window. Multiply the light.
That’s exactly what I was thinking of.
Dark rooms can get really cozy with warm fairy lights! Also you could switch the room that's your bedroom with the dungeon since when you're working you want it to be bright and inviting and when you're sleeping you want it to be dark and cozy 😊
Takin notes for when my fave thrift store opens back up

I was going to say the same thing! and maybe a couple other mirrors to help distribute the natural light around as much as possible. Hopefully she sees it and it helps!
I was thinking that maybe she could move the tall mirror from behind the sofa to the studio, and get a new mirror for the sofa area!
Agreed and also a couple of SAD lights in the back wall. It's crazy how your room feels different and you really feel it has natural light :)
Hi greetings from Ghana hope you’re doing well

I bought a sewing machine and am planning on upcycling all the old clothes I don't wear. Thank you for making sewing feel less daunting!
Oh wow greetings from Ghana 🇬🇭 hope you’re doing well

I love that yellow chair. I just love it.
I wish I could find one just like that.
Totally me...
Pothos in the sewing room, with some cute macrame hangers since they're lowlight and super low maintenance
it feels like a breath of fresh air! You're inspiring me to thrift when it's possible again :)
Aww that’s a sweet comment though greetings from Ghana 🇬🇭

money tree is a nice replacement for a palm. it’s big and fluffy. it’s also super easy to take care of and grows really quickly!
Looks good that chair looks really comfy

I really love how you decorated it great job
That thrift store you went to literally had the same couch chair thing you got rid of but in blue!
Congrats on your perseverance!! You really made progress!!!

This looks so great!!
Love the space! Cant wait to see what your new space will look like! 💕
I loved this whole journey!
Love that you took the time to make it happen :)
I love the decor!
If anyone is curious that velvet chair is from Wayfair. I’ve been eyeing it up for awhile!
Maybe a fun statement wall in your sewing room could be fun?! Love your videos!
Do you live in Canada or the US? The furniture you found in the thrift store is so much nicer than UK charity shops, I love the mid century vibe!
Inspired to thrift shop this weekend now! Great video, thank you for sharing!
I love the family art.
A little tip for letting in light through windows with ugly views is to get basically contact paper for glad that look like stained glass.
hey sera, how do you organize/store your jewelry?
Change all your light bulbs to daylight bulbs. That will REALLY HELP. And add faux plants. (No watering needed)
Dare I just say the pink/red chair was actually cute!?
Seriously your are the best !
I used to have a terrible time keeping my plants alive when I lived in Ohio-- especially in the winter. Buy a humidifier!! Love that cane chair! Do mind sharing the name of the rug you got online? Been looking for something similar. Thanks!
Here's the link ! bit.ly/3cT8V0A :)
where is that rug from?! need that in my life
Me too!!
Dying for your bathroom tile! 😍
I laughed throughout this entire video 😆you are funny !
Those Ikea lights look great above desk
Luv it. Took alot of work and new ideas but worked out for u.
Congratulations Sera.
Linda from Montréal
Love this video. I think you're place is so cute!
just clicked on youtube and already glad I did! love your vids always
You did a very nice job! Bravo!
I love this video so many good ideas
How much was the chair 😍 & do you know what brand?
Your space turned out so cute! Very jealous of your thrift stores lol
Hi greetings from Ghana
LOVE what you did!!
So funny, after my roommate moved out a few years back I wanted to recreate the space. The first thing I through out was that exact same red rocker !!! 🤣😂 what are the odds. I’m subscribed 👍🏾
It looks neat. 🌹
Love this soo much!!
it looks amazing! ur hired when I get my own place
Great Job!
In your work station get a billy bookcase from Ikea. For storage
Very clever and nice
love this video! I live with second hand stuff too and I love it
OMG the moment you went into my salvation army!!! Where do you find all your amazing items? I currently live in Loveland (20 minutes north of Norwood) and I haven't had much luck AT ALL with home decor in thrift stores near me
random, but those rainbo club matches in your bathroom made me miss home!
You should pull your desk away from the wall and either face the window or have your back against the window. And ground your desk with a rug.
Switch mirrors , put the 1 from sewing room in LR
Your fiance has the sweetest smile!
My $75.00 thrift,,from a great store,,money goes to charity,, is almost identical to your!! Arm front a little different
I clicked so fast!😄😄😄
Get your furniture off the walls. Bring your sewing machine across the room keep it facing the window, get a swag light or floor lamp.
