Yes, people are so focused on their destination that they forget how far they’ve actually come. I’m at 300 hours, and there’s so much I can do with the language now that I couldn’t have even fathomed doing months ago. It’s only going to get better with time. Congratulations on 1,000 hours! 🎉 It’s always a pleasure to witness the byproduct of consistency. In due time, we’ll all reach our destination as long as we keep moving

Thank you! and LITERALLY, THIS! Also... we get over the "slumps" much faster. So we can tell all the others that there is an end to the dark tunnel lol.
I totally agree with being grateful for what we have. I think a lot of DS users don't have much experience with real language learning, they only have experience with apps that don't do much and then found DS. As a result, they don't know how expensive good language classes are, they don't know how difficult language schools are, they don't know there are literally millions of people stuck in the beginner to intermediate phase because they never found consistency in learning a language. DS gives us a streamlined, affordable, repeatable way to learn spanish till we are ready for native content. That is worth A LOT. There is a highly esteemed spanish language school in my city; if you want an A1 to B2 course you are looking at £1000. You would have to be subscribed to DS for over 10 years! DS gives us incredible value.
You just said this SO well! It's so true. I know people learning languages online with courses at $350+ a month and they are barely getting anywhere. I feel like I found a hidden gem, and would never use any other method for language learning.
Great video! I watched it all the way through; which you know is a big compliment. 😂 I did watch it on 1.5 speed though. I’m at 900 hours and feel like a lot of what you said rang true. I listen to almost all native content and almost completely uplifting/worthwhile topics. Spanish is becoming more of a first class citizen in my mind.
🎉🎉 You're glowing! I also really like you mentioning to be grateful and the importance of just reflecting on the journey that we're all on, having the right mindset can really change everything Let's keep pushing for sure and thanks for sharing your journey! 🙂

I enjoy your updates so much! It's sooo motivating to see other people's success. I am coming up on 200 hours and the more I understand, the easier it is to get more hours of input per day, I feel like it accelerates as you go. So happy for you!
You’re beautiful in whatever way, but I must say, the short hair suits you sooo much!! You can really see your face & you’re gorgeous. I’m currently at about 100 hours so I love watching your videos, it’s so inspiring for me!!
yayyy love hearing about your journey and this is encouraging to me as someone who basically is trying to pick Spanish back up after not really engaging with the language for years. thank you as always for sharing and looking forward to hearing about all of your milestones - big and small!
Congratulations!!! So happy for you! Can't wait for your speaking video...mostly to hear what you have to say about Worlds Across. But also how you're progressing with speaking, obviously!
Congrats Angela!!!! 🎉🎉🎉 Letting CI work its magic and focusing on gratitude is such a sound piece of advice. Can't wait for the vlog! I'd love to hear what your thoughts are on WorldsAcross in general, since I'll be starting it soon. How was setting up your first session?

Thanks for the update . Im now at 80 hours and feeling like progress so so slowwwwwwww I just have to keep plugging away and trust the process. Thanks for your updates look forward to more soon. Can you talk a bit more about your tutoring ? What is the format ? You meet in person ?
Yesss keep going. The more hours you get, the easier it is to naturally get more input! I know I said "tutors" because that;s what they are called. But basically I am using WorldsAcross (speaking platform with tutors) for conversation practice online!😊 not so much classes or formal teaching, just conversation focused. The tutors shape the conversation in a way that naturally makes you use certain grammar that you need work on.
I congratulated you on reddit but congrats again on reaching 1000 hours of input! I’m currently at 855 hours and i’m hoping to reach 1000 hours by mid/ late december (or early january). I think when I reach 1000 hours, i’ll start to focus on reading because I love reading in english and I really want to be able to do it in Spanish. I’m not sure how i’m going to go about speaking as I’m not able to pay for classes with tutors rn, i’ll probably just talk to myself or one of my friends. Anyway, I really want to thank you for your recommendations, it has helped me so much with getting more input in and keeping my interest 💓

I am just now trying to force myself to stick to my reading goal because I know it is beneficial. You are right around the corner to 1000! Hope you post on reddit when you do hit the milestone!

Thanks for the video I needed that , Im also at 1K hrs , and Ive had about 4 session speaking to a tutor , I was very disappointed in myself on todays session , so many grammar mistakes , left out words , but this video reminded me to be thankful what I can do now , one ,I can listen to any native content and follow along , I'm only 4 session in speaking , I shouldn't be so hard on myself
this will be in my next video, but just had a speaking session today and forgot almost all Spanish🥲 my other sessions went great so it was shocking to me. You’re not alone!
Hang in there!! Check the roadmap for 600 hours you are likely RIGHT where is says you would be! In my 600 hour update I expressed the same concerns as you. Full of vocab and nowhere to go🥲 Until I checked the roadmap and it explained everything. Something magical has happened between then and now, and it will happen for you too!
Thank you, yea I haven’t went back and looked in a while just been in the grind of getting hours in. I am very happy for you and your progress! Thank you for sharing your journey. The lord bless you and keep you.
This is making sense to me. Im at 760 hours and I am STILL struggling with understanding native speakers (pretty frustrating) My pronunciation is very good and I can make longer sentences now. I do ITalki once a week too so I dont annoy my Spanish speaking co workers too much. Congrats on hitting 1000 hrs btw. That (1000 hrs)will be The End for me with DS because 75% of the content is kinda boring to me. Thank you for this video this really helps me stay motivated😁
@@lukemarlin2024 make sure you read the Dreaming Spanish website! It will help a ton. It tells you at level 3, 150 hours, is when you move to intermediate ☺️

I have no clue if it's a good idea but I just started 2 days ago and I think I will try to watch mostly spain-spanish content because thats the accent I think sounds the best and I don't want to get a weird mixed accent that sometimes sounds like latinamerica and sometime like spain, like my English accent is, what are your thoughts on this?
@@excancerpoik excited for you!! I would say in the beginning, it doesn’t matter what accent you listen to. Once you are a few hundred hours in, then you can start focusing on 1 accent if you want. Whatever feels most natural and fun for you! Over all, don’t stress too much about it.

How do you like WorldsAcross as someone who almost entirely used Dreaming Spanish? I just hit 1000 hrs a week ago and it seems like everyone and their mother beelines there
LITERALLY everyone and their mother. I have to admit, I can now see why. I personally chose it because I knew I’d be wanting to take as many sessions as possible, and the steep price point would even out with using other platforms at $5-7 per session. I also wanted to remove as many (of my own) barriers as possible for me to schedule a class. After a week with the platform, I’m seeing it offers much more than I even expected. You get a coach, a monthly plan, they have weekly group sessions based on level (SB, Beginner, Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced, Advanced), group writing sessions and other fun things like book club and movie night(?) and the scheduling and overall interface is super user friendly. Overall it just seems better than randomly choosing different tutors on another platform, especially for long term. I’m especially glad because we can focus on my grammar, without studying grammar. They simply guide the conversation based on what areas I am lacking in. They are extremely aware of DS students and the CI method, so very easy transition.
@AngelaLearnsSpanish i appreciate the detailed response and ngl that's the most convincing write up I've read on why to use worldsacross. Costwise i thought the same, as long as you take enough classes it comes out better than a platform like italki but its slightly more expensive than say Baselang. But what you said about their familiarity with the CI method and the aspect of learning grammar without studying grammar, I find those things to be very attractive esp coming from a dreaming spanish lens
