If we follow the direction of his butt that is the direction his energy is going.
He should recognise this being such a high grade.
He needs to direct his ki onto the contact point instead of away though his butt.
Stay vertical, as boken technique, use the elbows/hands from the hips instead of the hands from the shoulders. He wouldn't have to bend down so far then as well.

Unfortunately this is aikikai style They to try to look pretty and gymnastic when doing techniques so they can bring in weak people and lie to them that aikido can give them superpowers.
