Much respect to Cheri Passey for this wonderful information--I learned of new sources to investigate. Thank you for posting the links she mentioned! I (my siblings, aunt, and several cousins) have 8+ DNA matches to a specific pair of Caucasian ancestors who would be my 4th great-grandfather and great-grandmother. I will share this UA-cam link in hopes that it will encourage one of these matching DNA descendants to contact me. I am hoping one of them may have access to family records that will help me validate my oral family history. I'm hesitant to confirm the 4th great-grandparents in my family tree without their support to identify the specific 3rd great-grandfather. I have been taught to honor my ancestors and although I highly value my majority African DNA, I wish to acknowledge the non-African DNA that has also made me who I am today.
Thank your for sharing your knowledge and giving me the courage to reach out to my white DNA relatives to ask if they have any information they can share that would help me in my research. I have often overlooked reaching out to my white DNA relatives because the conversation around race is always a polarizing topic of discussion. After listening to you, I am much more hopeful that I will get a reply. 🥰

Slave owners family will never respond to my messeges. All of their trees are private also. :(
Likewise! Had a couple on the current line I’m working on that have said I’ll check and never heard from again. 😚
Thank you Cheryl!!! You certainly understand. Good luck on connecting the dots on the 2% AA within your mom’s roots and so on. 😉
