I'm a die-hard Vinnie/Weckl guy, and while some may disagree, Chris, as should be obvious to all of you, is that level of greatness. His modulation is as good as anything I've heard, his doubles are *clean*, and, most importantly, his musicality is always in play. There's no doubt whatsoever that he'd be effective, in any situation.
Frankly, anyone who puts him outside of the top-5 drummers alive is fooling themselves.

This is the reason why he's my favorite drummer. Ever
The truly upsetting part of this is not only is he completely capable of playing outrageously difficult things, but he can play them appropriately and beautifully. THEN he can also turn around and just play pocket for days. He plays LIVE like he's being simultaneously produced in a studio somehow haha! Probably (to me at least) the most captivating drummer alive right now. Power, grace, musicality, flow. Truly inspirational.

Chris Coleman is a BEAST! So inspiring!
Sometimes when hes playing some of his fills or rudiments, I wonder if hes going to slip or fall off time and he comes right back. Especially after the snare roll which seemed like he might come off time because you cant hear the metronome that well after that point but he still caught it, or when he goes hard and fast around 4:30-4:45 mark. Simply beautiful :D
MY favorite drummer. Chris is so inspiring. So much time at home on the kit during this Covid-19 disaster. Making the best of it with some practice.

Amazing...
now dats the most powerful thing to be playin with a metronome.....and also makin up any time signature...and the most essential thing I had to say as a drummer is havin ideas about when playin with a metronome....dats the way I seein myself being discipline too

@sheppfun always use a metronome, even when soloing. Chris Coleman is BIG on practice, thats how he got where he is at, this whole solo can be summed up READ SYNCOPATION. There is plenty of displaced groove in this solo.
