Ikr! Canon is so overplayed that i can’t even keep track of the amount of times i’ve heard it play! The celloist must be suffering... i heard that in some weddings, you have to play the same parts for 3 hours straight with only a few short breaks
Often, I'll play music in a minor key like this because it suits my mood better, not to mention it's just fun to see what it sounds like. For me, I prefer the minor key for this one.
Three weeks ago played on my friend's funeral. Still have this picture in my mind. This sad piece of music, white coffin and so many crying people... Miss you, Victoria! 😢😢😢

This is perfect. For when I stand at the aisle all alone with all the guests and fucntionaries as well as my brides as skeletons and dust. It's beautiful.
Though a cursed key, I feel like a Halloween wedding and walking down the aisle to this would bring remnants to death of life apart to be born a new. Perhaps invert the second half to the major key for that transition...
This is a fascinating piece. It's taking one of my all-time favourite pieces and twisting it just enough to be recognizeable yet depressing. Fascinating, but I can't shake off the feeling of "wrongness" to the melody. Anyway, good job.
if you you are using headphones/earphones you would hear that the right is the cello and basses and the left is the violins (maybe viola i dont have good ears)
POV: You're getting married to the one you hate the most, waiting for your true love to put a stop to all this. As the seconds trickle with each step to the altar, you slowly think to yourself that _nobody_ will stop this wedding. You slowly crumble down and accept your fate.
Stephen, the D minor version is the true and original one. Johnathan Pachelbel intentionally amended it to D major because D minor is a cursed music. It bears a sorrowful but horrible story that Pachelbel's lover passed away before they got married. For your own good, never use this music in any wedding.
It was an ancient story, a girl was infatuated with Pachelbel. Pachelbel didn't really see it even after she made every excuse to be near him by trying to learn the Piano from him and if I remember correctly he said "Maybe playing the Piano isn't for you" or something in that nature and she got so heartbroken she committed suicide. Only in death did Pachelbel realise he actually had feelings for this girl. So he made Canon In D minor and played it in the centre of the town after her funeral and the whole village wept along with him. Later on it was changed to D major as a good luck charm for couples getting married, a reversal of the song that costed a life.
Oh, well, that sounds much more logical than minor keys being "cursed music"... That concept sounds too medieval, and by the time Pachelbel lived, the middle ages already existed in history books only.
I hate imagining this but You are walking down the aisle and about to reach the pastor and then suddenly random stranger rush in the church and then throw molotovs and then suddenly your partner got sniped from 100km away.... Leaving everyone dead except you
Nah that doesn't really fit. This song is as if someone you're close to died a few days ago, and you're only now understanding it, as if you're coming out of shock. A situation which you described would be much more chaotic.
An astounding discovery, you just got the heart of the sea, the crew is sick and the wind is not bliwing, you are in the middle of the ocean, but you still find hope, you try all methods and a shining light lead your harsh way to home. Your family is sick because of an epidemic but you have the cure, the only valuable thing in your chest, but it was all an ilussion, because of starvation you halucinated. The minor key just adds so much emotion...
Not at all. It changes the emotion from brightness to grief.
And the major key adds power

This is how I feel when I get chosen to play the cello in Canon in D major of my school symphony
the natural minor?! not what i expected...
This hurts my soul 😭 but at the same time it’s relaxing 🥺
This doesn't sound Baroque, but it sounds very emotional and epic!!
sounds more baroque than the original
I actually liked this more. I hate how the major version is super duper ultra overplayed. I mean I still liked the major version, but ye
If Canon in D major is what they play at weddings
Canon in D minor is what you play at a funeral
I have searched far and wide to find this! And I'm so glad I did it is beautiful!!!
this feels like the real canon. i can't help but to think that it was meant to be put in minor key

Good use of commas

Minor Key: The D stands for "divorce"
When Maroon 5 gets shut down cuz they Sampled Canon in D
Well not actually 'sampled', it was based on as was All Together Now by The Farm and Go West by The Pet Shop Boys
If you mean shut down by fans? Then yes. Shut down legally? Then no. Canon is public domain.
D minor is the best
This is definitely movie worthy! Good job!
I'm impressed! I confess I did not have the courage, especially after this year, to even try to put it in 'late autumn'' terms. Tears, but good ones.

It's like death but all that happens is that your spirit leaves your body. Then, the realization of eternity slowly sets in.
Minor makes every song sound better. Everybody loves minor.
I don't think it sounds depressing... There is a sad underlying tune, but overall it feels like a forest fairy tail =)
D major is just as emotional as this one.
