- We would like to introduce the new Onyfix pain-free nail correction system. With three products, «Primer», «Soft» and «Hard», Onyfix offers a completely new way for you to treat your patients’ involuted toenails painlessly. To help you get the best out of the Onyfix nail correction system, you will find additional materials in the Onylux Toolkit.“
Professional nail correction with Onyfix in six steps
We would now like to show you, in 6 steps, how to use the Onyfix nail correction system.
Step 1: Roughening the nail
Use a bur to roughen the surface of the nail you wish to correct. This enables the Onyfix «Primer» to create a good grip.
Step 2: Degreasing the nail
Now degrease the nail. This step is also necessary to ensure that the composite adheres correctly.
Step 3: Applying the Onyfix «Primer»
Put one drop of Onyfix «Primer» in the lid of the primer bottle. Use a cotton bud to spread the «Primer» thinly and evenly on the entire nail.
Step 4: Drying the Onyfix «Primer» with the LED blue light lamp
Hold the LED blue light lamp close to the nail and turn on for about 10 to 20 seconds to dry the primer. The primer needs to be completely dry.
Step 5: Placing the Onyfix «Hard» on the nail and shaping it
Using a spatula, take about 1 millimeter of composite from the Onyfix «Hard» syringe and put it on the nail. Shape the composite on the nail into a strip about 2 millimeters wide, running as far as possible from the lateral to the medial nail edge. The nail correction system should be positioned in as proximal a position as possible. The composite must be shaped on the nail without applying pressure, and flattened out to the nail folds. Ensure that the composite does not touch the skin. Working it with the spatula softens the composite, which will not harden until cured using the LED blue light.
Step 6: Hardening the Onyfix «Hard» with the LED blue light lamp
To harden the nail correction system, again hold the LED blue light close to the nail and turn on for 20 to 30 seconds. The dispersion layer can be removed using the cleaner.
Once the Onyfix composite is fully cured, check that the nail correction system is even and not too thick. Onyfix should not be applied to a thickness greater than 2 mm. If required, the composite can be gently abraded and corrected using a bur. It is also possible to apply a second distal nail correction system in addition to the proximal nail correction system as necessary in order to speed up the results.
Renewing the nail correction system (optional)
As a result of nail growth, the old nail correction system has now migrated to the distal edge of the nail. If the nail is still not correctly shaped, a new nail correction system should be applied to the proximal edge of the nail.
Remove the old nail correction system using a carbide bur. Alternatively, the old nail correction system can also be removed using nippers. The nail is now once again prepared and treated as you have seen in steps 1 to 6.
Other options: involuted nail only on one side
If the nail is only involuted on one side, you should apply the nail correction system to just half of the nail, which should be prepared as described above. Once you have shaped the nail correction system on the nail, lift the affected side using a spatula. Keeping the nail lifted, use the LED blue light lamp to harden the composite whilst retaining the required shape.
Applying the Onyfix «Soft» Composite
For small and soft nails, use Onyfix «Soft». When using Onyfix «Soft», you should once again roughen and degrease the nail, and apply the «Primer». Attach the enclosed cannula to the Onyfix «Soft» syringe and use this to apply the composite. Using a spatula, again shape the composite to the required shape. The «Soft» composite is likewise cured using the LED blue light. Hold the light over the nail for at least 20 to 30 seconds.
Painless nail correction with «Onyfix» is as simple as that!
