We grew up living in town but we raised chickens for our family…every fall we would take one whole ,long day ,where everyone in the family,aunts,uncles,cousins would butcher..men scald,pluck women clean and wrap..seemed to me that during the fall,winter and spring on sundays after church all the family’s had fried chicken with mashed potatoes with the fixings..summer was butchering a cow and one pig from my uncles farm..the chicken livers and gizzards were like winning the lottery for us kids,,still love them..we live in the upper Midwest (wisconsin)…we took a trip a couple years ago down south..1st Golden Corral I ever ate at that had chicken liver…they can have their prime rib,ham,pork chops…I think I just about ate them out of livers…😊
My mom was french, but tried to make my dad southern fried chicken livers.. she followed every step to the tee when my granny taught her how, except she didn't deep fry them.. she fried them on each side in butter, lol. They were so good! 😊 I miss her. Thanks so much for bringing up wonderful memories! ❤

I love chicken livers if they are cooked right. I like the breading crispy and tender on the inside, seasoned just right. Not too much salt. I add some poultry seasoning or ground sage. So very good. Thankyou for your method of cooking them. Sweet and simple. Yours look delicious!

I could probably try to eat my weight in Lee's chicken livers. I'm going to try your seasonings on my next ones and see what I think I have actually not got to get or play with any smoked paprika yet and I'm kind of anxious too.
Very good show...I will definitely stab mine...making some tomorrow. I wish my mom would have made us eat tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, other veggies cause we are adults trying to like those things but not much at all...so make your kids eat some of these things 😕

I love chicken livers, gizzards and hearts all. My niece lived in New York for awhile. She went to a KFC and asked for fried chicken livers and the order taker didn't know what she meant. Called manager up front and was told they didn't sell innards omgoodness..a KFC where they they not only didn't sell innards but employee who had never heard of them..how is that possible?😳 lol
I'm from Cincinnati. Lee's has the best chicken livers!! I could make a meal out of them with no sides, just a pint of chicken livers. Cracker Barrel has pretty good ones, but not as good.

Slow roast the gizzards in oil (275 degrees) for 8 hours, and you'll LUV them.

Use a splatter screen rather than piercing the liver with a knife, or you'll end up with dried out liver in the end. Retaining moisture is key here.
