Oldman is of course correct a simple yet descriptive direction can be much more valuable than micromanaging However oldman is a once in 5 generation talent. A man who can take a note and give you an entirely different scene and character. Most people in their jobs deserve to be told what specific things they need to do. Otherwise they wander clueless trying to satisfy an unknown, I'm sure Nolan knew that and felt more than confident that he just needed to give a clue so that oldman knew where to look to deliver the best he could
Nolan is not a character director, he's just about the big picture. He hires good actors and expects them to do their job. Tenet shows this well as John Washington isn't a naturally good actor and Nolan couldn't help his performance.

One of my top 5 movies ever, for sure.
Saved your life? Wtf were you going through?
@@senthilvelan544 Save my life in that I love his work and how awe inspiring they often are. I'm not on a suicide prevention program or anything, it's just a way of saying I appreciate his work a lot.
He’s the most underrated actor in the world in my opinion. I fell in love with his acting when he was in Sid and Nancy and followed his career from then on. If I saw that Gary Oldman was in it, I was gonna watch it and that was that - and I was never disappointed. Quite the contrary, I was always beyond impressed by how dynamic he made his characters. He’s not a cookie cutter actor.
You also don’t hear any gossip about him. 🤍🤍🤍
Gary Oldman is one of my all-time favorite actors, and I had no idea he is British
Then you definitely need to watch his portrayal of Winston Churchill.
In Darkest Hour. He disappears into Winston Churchill completely
And for a really low-key restrained minimal performance, watch him in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy as George Smiley.
I don’t think he raises his voice all the way through the movie and he does that clever trick of making you think about him even when he’s not on the screen.
How am i 30 years old and have never heard garys real voice. Dude is legit the best actor to ever do it
What his portrayal of Winston Churchill. He doesn’t just act, he becomes.
If you want to see him being the total opposite of the crazy police policeman in Leon, watch him in Tinker Taylor soldier spy
I'm not big on top actors but Gary Olsen has been perennially considered underrated. Good enough for me... he will be best small/supporting actor in Hollywood of all time probably.
@@philiparchambault2506perennially? Or permanently?
Gary Oldman has been one of my favorites for years. He's truly one of the best out there.
A good example of two people working together, whereby each knows their role and respects what the other brings to the table. They intuitively had each others back.
"State of Grace..." He was epic in that.
The Professional (1994)
Air Force One (1997)
The Book of Eli (2010)
Plays Mickey Featherstone kinda
Coming from one of the best actors out there. Respect.
Brother you are an awesome Dracula
He was THE Dracula...makes my heart go pitter patter still ❣️
Gary is most definitely one of the greatest actors of all time
Immortal Beloved is one of the most beautifully shot, scored and acted movies of all time. Gary Goldman was simply brilliant.
Oldman is of course correct a simple yet descriptive direction can be much more valuable than micromanaging
However oldman is a once in 5 generation talent. A man who can take a note and give you an entirely different scene and character.
Most people in their jobs deserve to be told what specific things they need to do. Otherwise they wander clueless trying to satisfy an unknown, I'm sure Nolan knew that and felt more than confident that he just needed to give a clue so that oldman knew where to look to deliver the best he could
He must be preparing for his next role as Master Splinter from the Teenage mutant ninja turtles!
Nolan is not a character director, he's just about the big picture. He hires good actors and expects them to do their job.
Tenet shows this well as John Washington isn't a naturally good actor and Nolan couldn't help his performance.
I think I agree with you.
That's kind of a cool interaction/insight. Speaks to the professional respect and understanding the two of them had with each other, and assumedly other actors on those sets.
Having praise sung in your honour by a veteran actor like Gary Oldman is one of the highest of compliments.
His last name finally matches his looks.
stop stealing my moves
@@sphillips7373 Only if you stop eating my biscuits.
One of the greatest actors of my generation.
He goes unnoticed in films because he embodies the character so well that we forget who the actor is.
State of Grace...fast foward all of Robin Wrights scenes after her first one. its the greatest movie ever made. Jackie Flanery
I can watch The Professional over and over just to watch this immensely talented man portray the most crooked of detectives. I will never understand how anyone with the ability to vote for best performances by an actor did not think of Oldman in this film.
One of the best actors of our time, left alone to create his character. Perfect!
