  • When IT Supplies was founded more than 25 years ago one of the major drivers of our growth was the invention and explosion of digital photography. Now amateurs and professionals alike could shoot and print their own photographs on high quality digital printers from Epson, HP and Canon. Coming from those roots in photographic and fine art printing, we have continued to serve the industry with printers and substrates at the high end of the market. One of the most popular substrates among our customers is canvas. In this video we’re going to look at the full catalog of printers that we sell and tell you which printers are best for printing on canvas.

    Ive been using 800w for 2 years, its a tank. Great all arounder. A little grainy with block colors on vinyl. But canvas and paper photography prints comes out amazing. One downside is extremely expensive to buy and run. 30grand to buy 3l ink option, every 4-5 weeks maintenance cartridges needs to be replaced. Print heads underperforms after 4500-5000 firing and nees changing. More or less 300usd monthly cost on top of initial 30k grand investments important factor to consider. It only has 1 year guarantee so service contracts another issue (:

    The advantage of the latex line up is ... Once you have finished with that canvas print you can then print stickers and banners and fabric and wallpaper and heat transfer and traffic signage....... And be stay healthy doing it ... But if all you want to do is print Canvas and have to wear respirator all day I would not argue with the solvent printer...JMHO

    • @ITSuppliesINC
      @ITSuppliesINC  Рік тому

      Hi @scott8193, the R5070 may not of been available to us during the testing process when making this video. The Epson R5070 would be a solid choice in comparison to the HP Latex. The Piezo head technology offers a smaller dot size for better image quality and excellent color consistency. The best thing to do is test the same file on both machines and see it for yourself. Does sc 80600l prints ready to laminate right after the printing is done? How do you keep is dry if it is not ready to go? Can you keep it as a roll or should it stay flat to dry? Does canon pro 6100 have drying time aswell?

    • @ITSuppliesINC
      @ITSuppliesINC  Місяць тому

      Great question! To be clear, the inks are dry after they go over the post heater on the S80. Epson suggests 6 hours before lamination because the solvents take up to 6 hours to outgas. If you put a laminate on too soon it will outgas behind the laminate and either look cloudy or damage the surface behind the print (ie if its a sticker or vehicle wrap). For canvas, many customers will laminate immediately. The inks will outgas thru the back of the canvas but won't do any harm. Prints can be kept flat or on the take up reel, they are dry to the touch. I hope that helps!

      @@ITSuppliesINC Hey men, thanks for your answer, I have asked this 3 months ago, but the funny thing is, right now I am working in a shop where they use the s80600 as the main printer for vinyls. At the time I have asked this I was using HP800w. I have 2 years hans on experience with Hp800w and now I just started with S80. At first sight there are couple of things I can say. FIrst, graininess. S80 is better then HP800w. S80 is amazing it is almost impossible to see any grains when printing block colours. It would be best if you chose your printer depending on your business concept. If you run a print shop for main purposes, an all-rounder like, t-shirts, flyers, business cards, posters, vinyl you should go for latex Hp800w as large format printer BCS of it spead, easy of use in multiple ways such as smell, loading, attaching to take up and cutting the substrate. that will make you money and help you a ton in your rush working environment and no client will be complaining about quality. However if you are a sign shop that does car wraps, outdoor signs, interior walls building banners, carved signs with luminations etc S80 is your thing. Maybe you are a canvas printer and framer, again then load your canvas to S80 never look back, that will make you happier with its quality. Yes with s80 your prints are dry, you can touch them, but it is better to be laminated, you can see hand marks if you touch them right away, BCS of its oily structure of the ink maybe even after 5 days later you will see marks if you touch. they are ready to touch right after but you shouldn't haha. it has a little smell and that is ok for sign environment. you have to load the s80 from behind with a more complex substrate loading process. That is very important, experienced printers will know. S80 is less versatile, more professional, and job-specific printer. If you need a tool that you need to play around all day then go for latex or uv but I would recommend HP800w. I would recommend s80 if the only question is the print quality but if you can accept a little less professional results you should go latex. If you want to do a little bit of everything for multiple different clients, go Hp800. If you want to specialise in certain material and manufacturing methods go S80. I hope that explains something for the curious readers like me ( :

      Hello, thank you for your comment. It depends how wide you would like to be able to print your paintings. Most want a minimum 44" wide printer to be able to wrap canvases. I would look at the Epson P9570 or Canon GP-2000 for very vibrant colors to reproduce your paintings

    • @ITSuppliesINC
      @ITSuppliesINC  Рік тому

      Hello, the Epson S80600PE or S80600L are the printers you'll find in most large scale canvas producers in the country. This is due to it's amazing 9 color inkset. Eco Solvent is desirable for its lower cost inks vs aqueous and for its lower cost media than aqueous canvas. Typically we see a 20% savings per ml on the ink and up to 50% savings on the cost of canvas. The durability of the eco solvent ink also allows you to not have to coat the canvas like it's aqueous counterpart. Simply print, stretch, and sell.

      Persianas, we're glad you found it helpful! Vinyl is generally easier to find and less expensive for eco-solvent and latex printers. For these reasons, We'd recommend either the HP Latex 700/700W or Epson's S80600. For a photographic quality print, go with the Epson S80. If you have a space without ventilation, the HP Latex will do great.
