    It's a brilliant little heater I use mine in my campervan and I have never had any problem with monoxide, I do use a detector.
    I use it on my normal stove. It's just as effective as my Propex heater without drawing power from my batteries .

      always use 2 different CO detector. a family almost died here when they got woken up by a 2nd alarm because the first one that was closest to the wood stove didnt even trigger. i guess it depends on the air circulation or the programation of the CO detector.

    The white wintery mug added a nice touch. I did like the warm glow that emanated from the heater. 30 minutes of warmth after removal from the flame is impressive!

    Bought a second one of those type of heater to use on a tabletop hob like the butane stove you showed, first one I had I used it with a wood gasifier stove in December 2014 when I moved into my apartment without power or natural gas connected 🤣 (previous occupant owes a lot of money) I managed to boil water in a tea kettle for coffee as well as heating up canned food in an old mess tin (army style, pierced the can and put it in the mess tin of boiling water to heat through)

    I can see heating this up outside the tent then moving it to an 8" terracotta dish and pot over it once really hot and you could use it in the tent without a flame. It might even be of use with a candle inside it in the winter inside the tent or house. Get one of those 8-hour candles and it would give off some of the lost heat and keep the flame burning better than some ideas. Thanks for the review and doing this in the summer (are you crazy?). I've been watching you for a while now and you never let me down on your posts. Thanks again.

    • @DamianBloodstone
      @DamianBloodstone 2 роки тому +1

      @@toni3558 I doubt it could be used with one. Those are too small for this type of application and don't produce enough heat. The single candle ones do have a heat plate at the top too. The three candle one might, but it has its own plate on top to make it into a kind of heater. A candle might work, as I said above, but very few things give out enough heat to make this device function. You could heat it up outside the tent and carry it in on a terracotta pot stand but that would be the most I would use it for. Most things with fuel are dangerous inside of a tent.

    You’ve made me an addict of your videos! I just recently discovered your blog and I’m checking everything, lol. I was thinking about getting this since I’m planning on Van/living for 4 months checking National Parks, of course I’d leave some ventilation open while using, together with a carbon monoxide alarm, run it just to warm up, transfer to a pot while is cooling off. I’ll put a fire mat together with a metal cooking sheet to make it safer. I have a fan on top of the wood stove I use at home that runs purely on heat, I can probably modify for this to stay firm, stable on top to move the hot air and I think that’ll make it even more efficient. I will order from your Amazon store. Keep up the good work and thanks.👍🏻

    What would help would be a metal wind shield to make a reflector. If you get a duel fuel, butane x propane, stove you can attach to a 20# tank using a adapter hose. This would be good for use in a van with that advantage that you can adjust the heat low enough not to over heat or just use very little heat if you want to stretch your fuel usage.

    Great for outside use with a wind guard, I found it to be quite wobbly on my vision square gas stove so I bent the fins out at the bottom to make it a bit more balanced as no matter which direction I put the fins in it wouldn’t fit for it to be stable enough in my eyes.. obviously there s that many different brand gas stoves on the market some maybe fit a bit better than others...If I’m doing anything wrong please let me know n any feedback much appreciated 👍

    Nov. 16, 2021: That $15.00 heater on the Amazon link is now $22.99.
    Thanks for the video.
    Nothing in the Amazon description tells how to use it or gives any precautions etc, which I think is very irresponsible of the Seller and Amazon.
    Your demo was very thorough and I truly appreciate all of your comments about the heater and the heat sources.
    I was thinking of using this inside a van....
    I'd heat it up with the window cracked then turn off the flame and allow the unit to distribute the heat, off flame.
    In my area of SouthFlorida we have very few really cold nights, say below 40° but even 50° feels totally freezing for ME so, I just need to take the chill off now and then.
    This should do the trick nicely, plus a cup of hot tea or cocoa while the cover is warming up, I should be warm enough to fall asleep.

    Burning alcohol in these stoves - indoors - is completely safe. The byproducts of combustion are water and carbon dioxide. You will need some additional air so do provide some air flow into small enclosed spaces, but there are no concerns about carbon monoxide poisoning if you use alcohol.

    I personally use t-light candles - 8 hour ones - bunch about 6 of those tightly together on a non flamable surface like steel and you will get a really hot colum of air rising in the room. I test it every winter and its really great. They are fab for boilling water in tins too. Il test this one day in a tent outside and see how long it takes. No doubt it will take less then 5 mins. I am not comfortable with gas at all because I cant see how it is behaving and hard to ccontrol if it misbehaves.

    • @dianenordstrom2770
      @dianenordstrom2770 3 роки тому +1

      Please don't bunch tea lights closely together. Someone commented on a site the wax spilled into each other and ignited in a kind of explosion. It burst through the lantern holder and set his house on fire. Even the box warns of this.

    • @contactjoy4140
      @contactjoy4140 3 роки тому

      You must calculate how quickly the candle flames are sucking the oxygen out of your space.
      It isn't just the fumes that the gas gives off, it is the amount of oxygen consumed by any flame, while you are exhaling carbon dioxide.
      It is the lack of oxygen that renders a person unconscious....
      Every flame consumes the oxygen in every space.... that's the purpose of keeping a window open... to replenish the oxygen in the area faster than the humans, pets, and the flame, can consume it.
      If you have a pet in the area with you, they also consume the oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide so figure that their breathe will deplete the oxygen faster than you alone and increase the carbon dioxide faster.
      Those tealights are not as safe for sleeping or being in a small space as you seem to think they are, and you are using a quantity of them which increases the amount of flame and increases the speed of the oxygen being depleted.

      You could perhaps make a heat deflector out of heavy foil like those disposable trays. Cut a disk shape like a CD and cut a slot from the outside to the centre and just slip it in. This should give far more protection from the heat.
      You could also use the bottom of a large biscuit tin and it's easy to cut with scissors, that's what I'd do. I don't like loud bangs with lots of heat 🧨💥😲

      This holds unburnt propane pretty good burning it up. These are much cleaner burning but yes in a pinch that would save your life and with Proper ventilation Unburnt propane doesn’t really matter. Carbon monoxide is the real killer so make sure you have a fan pull air in and on taking air out.

      Sundays Comrad on Pinterest they make them by nesting together terra-cotta pots and turning upside down over candles. Doesn’t get hot enough to use as a heater, but you can put on stove but usually can’t handle the higher heat and ends up cracking. I like your soup can idea!!
