  • Just a quick review of a few different brands of barefoot boots that I've tried with my horses. Pros and cons of each (in my personal experience).

Would love an update on whether the Flex Boots ended up working or not. Great review, thank you for posting.

Hi! Thank you! I ended up buying the small neoprene trail gaitors and some 5mm inserts for when she is freshly trimmed. Both inexpensive changes have made a big difference and I'm happy with them so far!

Thank you for this review!!! My mare is at 3 weeks post trim, so I’m anxiously awaiting her next trim to measure. Seems to me that mid trim cycle would be the time to measure, but I’m afraid to test that theory 😂. I think I’m leaning toward a cavallo or flex boot. I was set on an easy boot, but the reviews are so mixed

I've been using the FlexBoots ever since I made this video and I love them! I went to the mountains and rode for over 6 hours through all sorts of terrain and they never budged. My horse was comfortable and happy the entire ride. Definitely recommend this brand!

Hi Cody, I have the Scoots and like them a lot, too. I'm lucky that I didn't have the heel problems. But apparently lots of people did, because Scoot Boot just came out with the Enduro model. IMO they don't look as sharp as the original Scoots, but they were designed to accommodate both high and low heels. They're a bit more cumbersome to put on but they meet your criteria of no velcro, great drainage, and likely to last through the trim cycle. Mind do at least. Thanks for the video.

Yes! I recently saw those! I'm glad to hear they are working for you and your horse. I'm so happy with the FlexBoots, I'll be sticking with those for this particular horse :)

Is it possible for you to do a brief update on the Flex Boots? I would be forever grateful 🙏 🐴💕

Hi! I have been using the FlexBoots ever since I made this video and I LOVE THEM! Highly recommend. They have not come off or even slipped since I purchased the small-size gaiters. I also got some of the firm 5mm pads to add to the boots when my mare has a fresh trim. These boots are excellent!

I'm using Explora Magic on my mare and they work great. Have you heard about them or tried them?
No velcro and good adjustability to make them fit your horse. I have been riding on alot of different terrain and they have allways stayed on. Good durability as well. If needed you can easily buy spare parts of anything and only change that! I have recently bought a pair of Flexboots for the pony that I also have (simply because the Exploras don't go down enough in size) so I'm looking forward to try them out myself!

I have not tried the Exploras, but I've heard great things about them! I hope the FlexBoots work well for your pony!!

Did you try stretching the heel bulb area on the Scoot boots?

Hi! Did you try a heat gun on your scoots? My gelding is hard to fit as well, big heel so I scratched them with the heat gun

I thought about giving it a shot, but didn't want to stretch them and then not be able to resell them if they still didn't work. I just wasn't a fan of the hard plastic over the heel bulbs. The FlexBoots have worked really well for me though!

Great review. Would you mind providing me an update? I have been really trying hard to research the best boot and so far I am leaning towards the flex boot. Or the Cavallo? Your thoughts? Thank you

      Thanks!
I have not personally tried the Cavallo boots, but I can tell you what I don't like about the design compared to FlexBoots. #1 - ventilation/drainage is very limited with the Cavallos. They look very bulky and I think they would get hot if worn over a long period of time and #2 - the velcro straps will most likely wear over time and will not work if they get wet/muddy repeatedly. At least that was my aggravating experience with Renegades that fasten in a similar way.
Again, I have never used Cavallo's personally, but they have several design elements that are not my favorite. It also depends why you need boots. I've heard that a lot of people use Cavallos for hoof rehab, whereas the FlexBoots are primarily used for trail riding.
