I'm going to have to disagree that most Middle Eastern fragrances are dupes. I wear predominantly Middle Eastern brands like Gissah, Oman Luxury, Amouage, Arabian Oud, Dar Al Teeb, Hind Al Oud, ASQ, etc. and they make entirely original fragrances.
There are so many more originals that a lot of westerners have never even heard about because we're only familiar with dupe houses hyped up on social media. Not saying there is anything wrong with that because I have one dupe I really enjoy layering with. But Middle Eastern fragrances run from cheap crap to original luxury perfumes just like the west.

I think theyre addictive because they mimic that luxury feeling. We're all chasing that experince of having something new and beautiful that smells different from what we have.. Hi. You crack me up😂. I love watching you break it down. The new houses are duping but the older houses like Ajmal, Samid Abdul Quarasi etc the established houses make their own creations. I must agree Paris Corner is a bit more down market compared to French Avenue which is my favorite trend ME house at the moment. The scents are more expensive but the quality very high. What I find is the dupes are sometimes better than the department store original. I very seldom buy department store because some of them are very poor quality. ..😅. If you look at the fragrance community with an unbiased lense and take your emotions out of it what we call dupes are “inspirations” of some major houses, BUT….all houses in America get inspiration from other houses and just because a house is not duping exact smells does not mean that a house is not “inspired by” other houses and borrow ideas and concepts for profit. To really examine this it really takes an unbiased eye.
And honestly I don’t care what anyone thinks the American or French or English perfumers don’t have the firepower or budget to go war with no middle eastern companies. There is no cap on their budget on their end to fight and win

    • @winglady
      @winglady  11 днів тому

@@reboot4357 oh. So in the end everyone is sorta duping everyone else. Well, if you look at the fact that Middle Eastern Perfume Houses do not usually disclose their Perfumers or only do so when the clout from such decisions will drive up sales, one can come to the conclusion that the entire fragrance community is a small but mighty world 😐

  • @sharfalor4244

I see so many people buying and buying the same scent profile over again and being disappointed. They'll buy 10 dupes of a niche perfume they've never smelled or tested, trying to find one they like. I always tell people to go to a store or buy a sample of the OG to see if they even like that DNA BEFORE they buy. They end up spending as much or more than they can buy the OG for.

Dear Winglady, thank you for this viddeo.
I agree with you and loved watching this. I went down the rabbit hole for sure and I do love Middle Eastern perfumes with a passion ( just as I always loved perfumes and collected them) , I love them because I do not seem to get nose blind when I wear them. But I started feeling I was buying far too many and enough is enough and put on a total break for a while and now only buy a very selected few and only after loads of research ( I did always research perfumes before buying but now do so much more diligently) and then I also wait for the price to go down as they seem to always be very pricey at the start. I think it is sad that they have gone up so much in costs, but perhaps it is because there is now such a demand and so this may also be why there are so many new releases. I feel overwhelmed at how many new releases there are and stopped watching a lot of videos because I am also ill. But it must be so frustrating to buy such similar fragrances that have been inspired by the same OG. So far this has not happened to me yet. I am now on a complete perfume buying break as I honestly have too little space left, 2 fragrance cupboards are filled to the brim and I want to enjoy what I own. But I can see how addictive these perfumes are and I do love wearing them. Lots of love from sunny Tasmania, Tia ❤

@@winglady Thank you so much. I love most of my perfumes , so I have been very very lucky, but there are about 3 I will give away as I will never wear those for sure, I disliked those from first spray and even months and months later, they are still not nice either on my skin or to my nose. I had an allergic reaction to one , so that was thrown out. About 5 or so I have only worn twice or so but I feel I will return to those as they still are something I really enjoy but there are others that I reach for continuedly whilst trying to rotate my perfumes ( especially certain ones for summer and so on).
We are also renovating and adding various things to our house and garden which will cost money so I feel I have so many I do not need anymore and would only buy perfumes again that I know I cannot live without 😂 . My signature scents have back up bottles already 😀. I may break my rule for a special perfume when I am 100% sure I will love it and it is not too expensive but I truly feel I have enough.

I have bottles I've just sprayed few times and boom I'm buying a new frag, like why????
I remember when I bought white orchid then for 5k,even Lamsat too but now price has gone up. Most of them are now at cut throat prices... Least good perfume you can get at company's price is 10k naira, meaning if you're buying from IG vendors you'd pay moreee.
One thing that annoys me now is, Nigeria was one country that readily accepted these mid eastern perfumes hoha and we hyped them like madt even before the western world did but now, they don't consider us first when they launch new frag. Imagine Angham just getting to Naija few days ago, we've not even smelt Yara candy. Even Lumiere garcon by fragrance world that's been out since when, only God knows when it will get here. Hi, I am not trying to be disrespectful to your views but as someone who has been collecting perfumes since I was so young (and am now mature like a fine old wine🤣) and have been in the position of inheriting so many wonderful perfumes, I do not feel that Middle Eastern perfumes are not as good as designer niche perfumes.
I must add to this though, that I have never bought any perfume to try and dupe another scent . The perfumes I buy , I buy because I love the notes and know or believe they will suit me.
I had Covid some time ago and was very ill and have long covid symptoms. I found that my designer niche perfumes and other loved perfumes just did not do enough for me. I needed a total change, or my body chemistry changed or my sense of smell changed but by accident I came across a M E perfume oil which I adored and that one I could smell all day on my own skin and got so many compliments that people stopped me in the street. This started my journey into M E scents and it has been such a joy. I love how I can wear these and not seem to get nose blind to my own perfume. I love the perfumes that are 'oriental' or have a distinct M E feel but still wear some Chypre perfumes and Gourmands and so on. I bought my husband also 5 M E scents and he loves them and also feels they last longer. But again I did not purposely buy any to dupe any other perfume.
I can honestly say I feel the M E perfumes that I now consider signature scents or so often reach for as well are actually at least of the same quality as my other perfumes and again longevity seems to be better ( to my nose and with my body chemistry) than the designer niche ones. Again perhaps it has to do with my body chemistry and we all smell things differently and I also have not bought a dupe.
Why would I anyway do this? If I love a perfume, designer niche or whatever, why would I buy a dupe for this if I love the OG?
      Kindest regards, Tia
