      I know right!? Sometimes people can't tell (you can!) and they choose versatility. The MV7 also allows you to use the Shure Plus app so there's some extra bells & whistles there. But if you need a great sounding XLR mic, that MV7x is killer!

      @@Dealcasters i agree in all points and i have to say the mv7 has interesting features (the software as you said, the possibility to choose xlr or usb, when you‘re connected with usb you can see the gain on the mic), but the most important is the sound i think and for 100$ less the mv7x does a really great job and i‘m not sure if the eq can make them both sound identical 🤷🏼‍♂️ i would have loved to own a mv7x white noir limited edition, but i guess they chose this mic bc of the fact it has more features and the mv7x is like the little brother of the mv7, which is the little sister of the sm7b, so they could sell a white noir limited edition for all of this three mics and i‘d definitly buy them 😂

      MV7 being it comes with their software to allow you to tweak the microphone is the only reason why it is more in price.
      I would mind the mv7x as all that same tweaking can be done on OBS which I already do for my Rode Procaster Dynamic mic.
      So save yourself the $$ and just get the mv7x if you already use OBS to get all that done.

      @@JunnyR-qw8jh meanwhile i own the mv7 and mv7x, but i really prefer my procaster instead, with the rode ws2 and some equalizing it‘s unbeatable in my opinion. maybe the electro voice re20 could compare, but i have to test it by myself some day.

    I thought the MV7 via XLR was pretty hideous compared to the MV7x. Then the MV7 via USB seemed like an improvement, but the MV7x still sounded the best. Guess I’ll stick with my MV51 for online meetings and King Bee II for podcasts.

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  Рік тому +2

      Yeah, there is a difference between the MV7x and MV7 for sure, but it seems a lot of people don't hear it or overlook it because they don't have the interface they would need in addition to the MV7x. Since you're more of a fan of the Large-Diaphragm Condenser mics - it looks like neither of these are options for you! How do you like the MV51? We were possibly going to get a few and test them out to compare and do videos. Thanks for watching!

      @@Dealcasters I like the MV51 fine for online meetings and singing on Smule, and it's fine for voiceover or podcasting in a pinch. As long as it's positioned well it sounds quite good. The MV7/x both sound a little better to me, so I still have a bit of MV7 envy. Thanks for your reply, by the way. This is a really well done video.

      @@milesian1 Appreciate you chiming in and watching! I also like the way the MV51 looks - reminds me of the old school intercom systems that homes had in the 70s/80s 🤣. I agree on the MV7x - we've suggested that mic to people who didn't have the budget for the Shure SM7b, since it has the same form factor. Great mics! Thanks again

    Hello, in the other comparison videos of the two microphones, people say that the sound is the same, except in your video. Could there be an explanation like a defect or a setting error?

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching and your question! With the exact same settings, we’ve found that the MV7x sounds a bit better when both are plugged in via XLR (traditional microphone cable). It’s slight, but there is a difference in sound quality. The MV7 has more versatility, with the USB connection and ability to alter the sound with free Shure software as well. Does that help you?

    I’m getting a really bad headphone monitoring delay when using the mv7+ either using the XLR cable or just plugging in the USB-c cable which leaves me to believe that it is a windows issue using OBX Is there a solution? With the XLR I use the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen.

    Quick question. I got the MV7X but got a different windscreen that's for the MV7 I believe. They said it'll be better for plosives but since it's much larger (end of the mic is father away from the end of the foam) will this change the experience?

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, smurf! Did you get a different pop filter from Shure or another company? The size of pop filters are the same for both the MV7 and MV7x. Regardless, a larger pop filter will affect things slightly. Distance is one thing, but also the added foam might slightly add a bit of difference. All of this depends mostly on your voice, what you prefer in terms of your sound and also how the mic is placed. In all scenarios, we prefer to speak across the top of the mic (not directly into it) and the provided pop filters help minimize plosives. Does this help you?

    Hi, do the basic windows settings matter for the Shure Mv7x mic? Do I set the microphone volume to 100% on windows? and what sample rate and bit depth is recommended?

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for watching Ryan! 16 bit, 48kHz is the best for these mics for video & voice. Since the MV7x is going through an interface for your computer, just make sure you’ve got things set properly on your interface in terms of volume. Does that help?

    Hi i know that its an Old video and not sure if you are going to respond but ill give it a try so is there any Good settings for the shure MV7X with the Scarlett solo 3rd generation

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  Рік тому

      That's a great setup! The key with the Scarlett is to get your gain cranked up loud enough without clipping. Make sure your phantom power isn't activated. Focusrite does a good job of having a color-coded ring around the gain knob, and as long as you are in the green and yellow (never in the red) you should have the right level. The Focusrite preamps are really nice and should have enough gain for your MV7X without any noticeable noise, but we use a Cloudlifter CL-1 with the MV7X (and turn down the interface) to get additional clean gain without overpowering your Scarlett's preamps. If you are ever having issues, sometimes just swapping out the mic cable (XLR) does the trick. We also use cable testers and make sure we don't get cheap when it comes to cables - super important! Does that help you?
