Thanks for this video. I'd heard that Birmingham was rundown/dismal but this video seems to dispel that. In fact I'm impressed by what I see. I'll have to visit (I live in London).
Birmingham and London aren't that different really. I visit both places quite often. West Bromwich, Walsall and Wolverhampton look a lot worse than London.
Over 2.6billion pounds is being spend on Birmingham from back in 2016 - 2023 . Birmingham is a great city . yes there is a lot of building work and traffic probs right now, but it will be worth it . in 2024 60% of the city centre will have be rebuilt .
I didn't think the city looked nearly as dirty and run-down as the comments would indicate. These people have clearly never been to either Third World cities or the Third World areas of the United States, e.g. New Orleans, Chicago, Flint/Detroit, Baltimore, etc. What WAS indeed bizarre was the lack of human life in form of pedestrians or vehicles, especially considering what a large city it is and how central/downtown you were. One might be mistaken for thinking they had accidentally clicked on 28 Days (or w/e the Danny Boyle zombie movie was called)
Has everybody left the country , where is the traffic , is this a Sunday morning at 5am , if this was Australia there would be bumper to bumper traffic .
@sarah jones It's much wealthier than other British cities apart from London. The suburbs are very rich, like Solihull and Sutton Coldfield. Streets full of mansions.

There's a lot of snobbery against Birmingham. Also, regarding the lack of people, the main downtown area is all pedestrianised.
Yeah the area near the beginning of the video is widely considered one of the rougher parts of Birmingham as well.
I’ve seen that car in my neighbourhood (white BMW reg no C8 MEN)
My theory is that Birmingham is the place people go to retire or if they are to poor to live in London they go to Birmingham
afrah nur. That's a hypothesis not a theory.
Nobody goes to Birmingham to retire.

They're probably held at traffic lights, just out of view . . . .
This definitely wasn't filmed in the rush hour. It's very busy then. Probably a Sunday.
I live in Birmingham what your seeing definitely isn't the norm it must of been filmed at the crack of dawn or something.

@Hedz Almador Because birmingham is changing and developing.

Some sort of commentary is needed - to say where you are in the city
You can read the street signs in some places, like 2:57.

Are the British now too poor to afford cars , there is no traffic .
It's Good Friday, Bank Holiday, quite early in the morning, so hence, little traffic.
@sarah jones It used to be poor in the 1960s-2000s until 2010s when Birmingham was booming

The Third World .
How?
My theory is that Birmingham is the place people go to retire or if they are to poor to live in London they go to Birmingham
Not many people choose to retire in Birmingham, they would choose to retire in the countryside.
Birmingham is a dumping ground the locals are rude and racist and backwards act like they are in the countryside.
