Tampa to Siesta Key Drive via Howard Frankland Bridge & Sunshine Skyway in March 2023

- The drive from Tampa to Siesta Key is a distance of about 70 miles. I drive south on Interstate 275 (I-275) towards St. Petersburg & Sarasota, traveling over the Howard Frankland and Sunshine Skyway Bridges. I then take exit 207 west to Siesta Key. The island is known for its stunning beaches, including Siesta Beach, which has been named the best beach in America by several travel publications.

The Motorway signs in Florida look just like the ones in Queensland. Great drive, it actually looks just like the Sunshine Coast in Southern Queensland, AU.
A great totally free thing to do in Sarasota… On Tuesdays, the Ringling Art Museum and Estate Grounds are FREE! It takes hours to check it all out, so it’s nice to have a free day and not think about fitting it in with the Circus Museum… which is massive. Great drive and great job AK 🫶

Many of the people you see are from cold weather states and Canada.

Most of us are just too busy while the vacationers are, well, vacationing. And when we do go to the beach it is usually because we are already there fishing.
@@321gates it's amazing today. Sunny and mid 80s. Yet most people in Florida look like it's Michigan winter and get no sun. Tampa radio stations are advertising tanning salons. Florida is so idd.
@Keith Barbaro I'm not sure where you're seeing all of this, but whatever. As for tanning salons, you do realize that most people have no interest in nude beaches, right? That's why women use them. Odd what you seem to find odd.
I find that too, many local Floridians don't really take advantage of the beaches.
@@ActionKid It does seem odd if you weren't raised here. We boat, fish, dive, ski etc. Lying on a hot beach is, well, boring to most of us. We did that when we were kids.
I live in Bradenton FL and I have been over the St Petersburg bridge like 3 times, the first time my God I didn't know that my husband was taking me over that thing, I was scare, and the other 2 times my sister she messed around and got on the wrong road coming back to Bradenton. And I haven't been on that thing since. And pray that I didn't have to. I just don't like bridges period.

@@321gates I found DC quite safe, even at night. Though that was back in 2014, could be very different now. But I visited a lot of monuments and tourist heavy places at night avoiding the crowds. There was still plenty of people around even after dark.

Hey AK just now watching this video just now crossed The skyway I know you do a lot of research and probably know about it but you weren't born yet that fishing bridge alongside the skyway was the original skyway terrible tragedy in 1980 I remember that day it was really foggy bridge got knocked down by a ship summit venture a lot of vehicles went into the bay. Tom Delgado did a little piece on it
