Ameen. I don't speak Arabic but I do find the extensive usage of Arabic in these lectures somewhat helpful. It is good to hear the language spoken and learn from context. I agree more translations would be beneficial

Scholars talk about history of Arabs, inlc. tribes & din to know context of Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him's home and mission.
What was Allah's wisdom behind this? There are 2 Arabs, Arab Ba'eeda, Arabs who perished before Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him, like Aad.
Thamud, al Aamaleka (in bible?), Qasm, Jdeesah, Jurhum (Tribe Nabi Isma'il ibn Ibrahim Alehom Salam from Iraq married into).
IBrahim had 2 wives, Sarah who delt with an evil king from Egypt with her du'a who gave her am abd bint named Hajra who she gave to Ibrahim and Hajra gave IBrahim his first child, Sara got jealous and Ibrahim left Hajra with Isma'il in modern MEcca when it was a blank desert... the tribe that was near them was Jurhum. When Isma'il was crying Hajra looked for water (from which came our Hajj rituals) and burst out the ZamZam... she charged Jurhum for this and this was her livlihood.
    10 :30 -
Hadith If you rely on Allah as you should you are like the bird who leaves its nest in the morning and return with food.
Arab Al Baqiyah (means lasting or everlasting) means they exist. Also known as Arab Qahtaniyun or 3'ribah meaning pure Arabs from the south like in Yemen, the other tribe is Arab Adnaniyun or Must3'ribah or Arabized like Isma'il.
Prophet Muhammad peace & blessings be on him 's ancestors were from Adnan.
From Qahtan is Saba (Kingdom? Surah Saba?), Naeem, Lahm, Another tribe is Juhfnah....
Sad Story of the last King of Juhnah (Jabr ibn Ayham), they were Kings of Syrians, They aided the Ansar against yeahood before the coming of Prophet Muhammad peace & blessings be on him.
Ibn Kathir mentions in Bidaya wan Nihaya.
Jabr ibn Ayham wrote to Umar I will come and become Muslim, which was good news as Kings can bring their kingdom to their religion.
    20 :30 -
He came with 500 soliders and gold & had a big welcome, then he said to Umar I want to do Hajj with you later... then during Hajj Jabr had his izhar stepped on and he slapped a man during tawaf Kaba and damaged the eye of a man from bani Kazara who reported it to Umar who said did you do this... and he said either you go to him and give him compensation or you will have the same done to you... he said I am a king and he is nothing will you do this to me? Umar said Yes. He said I will be a snara again, Umar said then I will take you out. Jabr said give me one night, then he went to his ppl at night let' leave and majority left with him to Rome, he apostated.
Umar sent a letter to Heracle via a man from Ansar, when he took the letter to him he said go to Jabr ibn Ayham who got a portion of his kingdom. Jabr brought wine and said if your heart is good you can do what you want, the Ansari said I don't drink it as its haram, he then bought a cup of gold and the Ansari refused again... Jabr got drunk and had praise sung for him. Jabr asked him do you know Hasan Thabit, the Ansari said he is blind now, Jabr said this is poem written by him, and asked about Umar... the Ansari said his condition is getting better and better... Jabr said I feel bad about the slap and not giving compensation, I wish I can go back to medina and be Muslim. the Ansari said do you regret it, Jabr said can my repentance be accepted, the Ansari said Ahshraf ibn Qais even marrie abu Bakr's sister...
    30 :45.
Jabr said i will return on 2 conditions, I want to marry Umar's daughter and 2nd is I will be leader, the Ansari said I can give you the first, but the second is up to the Muslims So I will leave now, Jabr said take all these gifts before you leave, Jabr on his way home saw Hasan bin thabit who recognized the scent and said is this from Jabr... Then the Ansari said this is the response from Heracle and I also saw Jabr who will return on 2 conditions. Umar said why didn't you agree to both conditions. 2nd was if he came to Medina wanting leadership Iman will remove it... then he was sent back to constantinople and heard the ppl just returned from burial of Jabr...
This was due to pride, Quran says be just speak the truth, the best is the most righteous. to give virtue based on physical creation is way of the outcast. Abu Lahab is the uncle of our Prophet peace and blessings be upon him but he had a bad ending. The view that the only Prophet from the Adnan is Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him. the Arabs of Adnan were in North of Yemen, Isma'il married into them and his wife from tribe of Jurhum taught Arabic to his kids.
    40 :00 -
From Adnan came Maad and from Maad from Bazar/Nizar who had 2 kids. Rabeeya & Muda'a. These two tribes are well know.
From them came Hawazin, Tawan, Tamim, Ali and Qayraish / Fi'eer.
Arabs were bedouins, look for grass is greener on other side, travel alot.
other type was Habar or urban Arabs, mainly in Yemen wa Jawarah... and were neighbors of the romans and Irans... they made the dam of Mahram and held and used water for their farming.
    Mentioned in Quran 34 :15-16
    45 :00 - Q & A.
If someone doesn't know the answer to a question say I don't know.
ibn Kathir didn't mention the chain of Jabr. Some say this was Umar calling Rome to Islam and if not then Jhad would take place.
    Ismail gave birth to Adnan.
Some say Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him being Mut3riba is a sign even non Arabs should learn Arabic as its the language of the Muslims... (and the Quran set up their grammar.)
Samiyun or semitic langauges, Arabic, Ahmaric, Aramaci , Hebrew etc.... the only language not effected was the Arabic langauge. Arabian peninsula was protected from other influences, this changed only after Islam came.
Sirah can be called Magazi meaning battles like how salat can be called Qiiyam as a big part of it.

Episode 2: The History Of Arabs
The topic of discussion in this episode:
    1. Types of Arabs
    2. Civilisation of the Arabs
    3. Religious matters of the Arabs before the arrival of Prophet ﷺ
    4. Why Allah ﷻ chose Muhammad to be the seal of all Prophets from the Arabian peninsula and the Arabs.
The scholars talk about the Arabs before going into the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ in order to understand the Prophet ﷺ more. Indeed, there is no doubt the Prophet ﷺ was an Arab. This episode will speak about the way of the Arabs were in terms of their religion before the arrival of the Prophet ﷺ.
Every single action and statement of Allah ﷻ has a wisdom behind; sometimes we know because Allah ﷻ tells us why but sometimes we don’t know the wisdom but just because we don’t know the wisdom does not mean there is no wisdom.

The Arabs Are Divided Into Two
      1. Al-Arab al-Ba'ida (The Extinct Arabs) - they perished before the arrival of the Prophet ﷺ and they are following tribes:
      1. 'Aad
      2. Thamud
      3. Imlaq
      4. Tasm
      5. Jadis
      6. Jurhum (people who lived in Mecca before Ibraaheem came)
      7. Hadramout
Ibraaheem came from Iraq to Mecca with his wife Hajar who had a son named Ismaeel. Sarah had a maid called Hajar in which she gave to Ibraaheem as a gift. Hajar was given to Sarah by the King of Egypt. So, when he came to Mecca with Hajar who he had a child with first (Isma’eel) - this is where he left his family, and this is where the Zamzam water came from. And the evidence for that is as follows.
      As Allah ﷻ says:
"O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in an uncultivable valley by Your Sacred House (the Ka‘bah at Makkah) in order, O our Lord, that they may perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât). So, fill some hearts among men with love towards them, and (O Allâh) provide them with fruits so that they may give thanks.
      [Surah Ibraaheem 14:37]
A Benefit To Take From This:
When Ishmael's mother followed him saying, "O Abraham! Where are you going, leaving us in this valley where there is no person whose company we may enjoy, nor is there anything (to enjoy)?" She repeated that to him many times, but he did not look back at her Then she asked him, "Has Allah ordered you to do so?" He said, "Yes." She said, "Then He will not neglect us,"
      [Sahih al-Bukhari 3364]
      • In a desert where there is no such thing as a car, no air conditioner, nothing to go to seek security and comfort. Her connection with Allah ﷻ is something to take from this and the pain Ibraaheem was feeling leaving his wife and child in the middle of the desert. The child he was making Dua for a long time and to be granted a child at an old age to only leave them behind.
But as we know if Allah wills good for someone, He afflicts him with trials. Therefore, Allah ﷻ wanted good for Ibraaheem. If Allah loves someone, He afflicts him with trials.
      • When the Zamzam water came out, Jurhum drank the water and Hajar used to charge them to drink the water and this is where she got livelihood from.
      • Allah ﷻ will take care of you wherever you are, Allah ﷻ will provide for you. One should come with full reliance in Allah and the correct reliance in Allah. Just like the bird who leaves with an empty stomach and returns full.
      Allah says:
And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allâh, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allâh will accomplish his purpose. Indeed, Allâh has set a measure for all things.
‘Umar bin Khattab ibn al-Khattab reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “If you were to rely upon Allah with reliance due to Him, He would provide for you just as He provides for the birds. They go out in the morning with empty stomachs and return full.”
      [Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2344]

      2. Al-Arab Al-Bakiya (The Living Arabs) - The Arabs that exist through Islaam and they are two tribes:
      1. Al-Qahtaniyoon also known as “the pure arabs”
      - They live in the south of the Arab peninsula
      - They are the ones in Yemen and around it
      - Saba (people of Qahtan) - it is a kingdom they had
      - Na’een and the Laghmiyoon are all from the Arabs of Qahtaniyoon
      - Awladi Jafna are also Qahtaniyoon
      - Mamlakutul Khasaseela are also Qahtaniyoon
      Allah ﷻ says:
Indeed there was for Saba’ (Sheba) a sign in their dwelling-place - two gardens on the right hand and on the left; (and it was said to them:) "Eat of the provision of your Lord, and be grateful to Him." A fair land and an Oft-Forgiving Lord!
But they turned away (from the obedience of Allâh), so We sent against them Sail Al-‘Arim (flood released from the dam), and We converted their two gardens into gardens producing bitter bad fruit, and tamarisks, and some few lote-trees.
      [Surah Saba 34:15-16]
      2. Al-Adnaaniyoon also known as “Arabised” meaning they weren’t Arabs before.
      - If you count the Prophet’s name, his name goes back to Adnaan.
      - The strongest view is the only Prophet from Ibraaheem from Al-Adnaaniyoon is Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
      - According to one view, Adnaan is the son of Isma’eel (who was not an Arab, he came to Mecca and married from the people of Jurhum and that is where they became Arabs and he learnt Arabic from the people of Jurhum) . The wife of Isma’eel was also teaching him.
      - Resided in the North and lived in Mecca
      - Adnaaniyoon were named after and Adnan came from Ma’ad, then came Nazar and his two children Rabee’a and Muthar.
      - Rabee’a and Muthar are two tribes you are going to hear in this episode.
      - Famous tribes from them are Hawazi, Natafan, Tameem, Adi and Quraish
      - The name of Quraish is Feehiir
      - The types of residency are of two types:
      1. Ahlul Badwiin - the bulk of Arabs were bedouins
      2. Ahlul Hadhar - urbans who live in cities and towns majority of Ahlul Yemen who were in between the Roman and Persian empire so they picked up not to travel too much and they had provisions as Allah ﷻ says
Indeed, there was a sign for ˹the tribe of˺ Sheba in their homeland: two orchards-one to the right and the other to the left. ˹They were told:˺ “Eat from the provision of your Lord and be grateful to Him. ˹Yours is˺ a good land and a forgiving Lord.”
But they turned away. So, We sent against them a devastating flood, and replaced their orchards with two others producing bitter fruit, fruitless bushes,1 and a few ˹sparse˺ thorny trees.
      [Surah Saba 34:15-16]

Sad story - Last King Of The Kingdom Of Mamlakutul Khasaseela (Awladi Jafna)
      Introduction
      • The tribe of Awladi Jafna resided in Sham and their religion was Christianity and were very wealthy.
      • Awladi Jafna helped the Ansaar in Madina against the three tribes of the Jews: Banu Quraida, Banu Qaynuq’a, Banu Nadir and thus were weaker than the Ansaar even before Islaam
      • Name of the last king was Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham ibn al-Aiham
      • Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham ibn al-Aiham was the last ruler of this Kingdom.
      • His Kingdom ended by embracing Islaam although his Islaam was short lived under the leadership of '‘Umar bin Khattab bin Khattab
This story is mentioned in Al-Bidaya wa'l-Nihaya by Ibn Kathir
---Acceptance of Islaam by Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham ibn al-Aiham
Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham wrote a letter to ‘Umar bin Khattab saying that he wanted to come to Madina and accept Islaam and he wanted to leave everything behind.
‘Umar bin Khattab became happy by this knowing the tribe he is from are from the purest of Arabs and they are powerful with a powerful history.
‘Umar bin Khattab said to Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham to come and that his Islaam will be accepted from him. So, Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham came, knowing that a King will be Muslim, he will bring a large group and said ‘Umar bin Khattab that Madina will not be able to accommodate him.
Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham brought 500 soldiers all clothed in gold, silver, diamonds and put a crown on that was worth more than every home of the Muslims.
The day he came to Madina was a day where everyone came out to witness this day. The whole city was watching seeing a Christian man accepting Islaam just like that.
      ---Incident of Hajj
In the same year, Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham said he wanted to Hajj with ‘Umar bin Khattab, so ‘Umar bin Khattab accepted and invited him. When Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham went Hajj, he was doing tawaf around the Ka’ba and a man from Bani Fazar stepped on Jabala ibn al-Aiham’s ihram which caused Jabala ibn al-Aiham’s awrah to be exposed, he put his ihram back on and slapped the man in the eye which caused permanent damage.
The people of Bani Fazar came wailing to ‘Umar bin Khattab bin Khattab and informed him of the matter regarding which Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham has done, slapping a man during tawaf (during worship). 'Umar bin Khattab has called for Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham to come see him.
Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham was brought to 'Umar bin Khattab and confronted him regarding the incident and wanted confirmation from Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham whether he did this or not. He admitted to it without hesitation.
Umar gave him two options, he said to either take the man and give him whatever he likes, come to an agreement and to bring this man back happy or Umar does what Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham did to the man and slap him.
Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham with arrogance responded that he is a king from the kings and from Awladi Jafna indicating that the man he slapped is a nobody. Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham questioned Umar that if he’d really do that to him. Umar said yes.
Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham responded that he is going to Islaam and become a Christian again. Umar agreed to it with the condition he’d kill him if he did. When he saw how serious Umar was and how tough the situation was. Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham said he’d come with a decision after a day. Umar agreed and let him go and is expecting him to see the next day with a decision from the two options he gave.
But Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham returned back to his people on the outskirts of Madina and went to Rome - and he left Islaam. However some of the people refused to go with him.
---The letter to the leader of Rome
Umar then wrote a letter to Heraclius (leader of Rome) and gave the letter to an Ansaari to deliver it to leader of Rome.
Heraclius got the letter and said before he gives a response, he told the Ansaari to go to visit Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham and see how he was doing. Bear in mind that the leader of Rome gave a large portion of his land to him, wealth, and everything else.

---Ansaari visited Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham
When the Ansaari went to visit Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham and the Ansaari saw him and could not recognise him. The Ansaari saw the man so young, wearing the best of clothes, hair was glowing that he powdered. Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham tried to offer wine and the Ansaari refused the wine and stated the Prophet ﷺ prohibited alcohol.
Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham responded saying “As long as your heart is good, it doesn’t matter what you do” - how many times do we hear this statement. The Ansaari was then given water in glass cups - the Ansaari refused the cups of gold and wanted it in a normal cup.
Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham was so intoxicated, and he requested for singers to come and sing for him, and he asked for the praise of his people to be read on him which turned into music was a poetry that Hassan ibn Thabit had read for the people of Awladi Jafna.
The poetry was recited for Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham which was initially read by Hassan ibn Thabit who used to read it for the people of Awladi Jafna - so Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham cried and cried and then he looked at the Ansaari and asked if he has seen Hassan ibn Thabit and the Ansaari responded yes and that he is now blind now.
---Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham wanted to come back to Islaam
Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham then asked the well-being of Umar, and the Ansaari responded saying he is in a much better position because Islaam has spread, and the upper hand is for the Muslims.
Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham cried again and read the following poetry “they have become Christians just because of a slap that Umar would’ve done to them” - this slap wouldn’t have been any harm for them.
Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham then said “all that took me was rage and anger, so I went to an argument with Umar which I didn’t really need to, all he would’ve done was slap me and maybe I’d have lost an eye but I’d have had the two eyes of Islaam and I wish my mother never gave birth to me, I wish I could go back to Umar and take what he said to me. I wish I could go back in time that I can go to the people of Madina even as a slave or servant for them, so that I can hold onto the religion which they are holding onto, the peace and happiness it brings them”
The Ansaari said to him that if he regrets what he did and Jabala ibn al-Aiham said that he regrets his decision and questioned whether Umar would accept his Islaam from him. Ansaari responded that of course he would and gave examples of those who left Islaam and came back and was accepted. Rather, when Al-Ash'ath ibn Qays left Islaam, Abu Bakr married his sister off to him.
Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham wanted to come back to Islaam with two conditions, and they were if he could marry the daughter of Umar. Ansaari responded that this is possible and is guaranteed for him. The second condition was that if Umar dies, he writes a letter that he’d be the next leader. The Ansaari couldn’t guarantee this and stated this is the matter of the Muslims and not in the hands of Umar.
The Ansaari rushed to leave and was told by Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham to take some gifts to give to Hasan ibn Thabit and to tell him that Awladi Jafna will never forget for what he said for them (regarding the poetry)
So, he took the gifts to Hassan and before anybody came in, he smelt the fragrance from Awladi Jafna. He received the gifts and acknowledged they are from Awladi Jafna. And knew that they gifted him because of the poetry he read for them.
----The end for Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham
The Ansaari then went to Umar to give him the update of ruler of Rome and told him the meeting of Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham. Umar asked about Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham on what he has said and that was he’d come back to Islaam with two conditions. Umar said to the Ansaari that he should’ve agreed to both conditions.
Ansaari confusedly responded “both?” - Umar said “yes, regarding the second condition -if he came to the city of Madina, Imaan would settle in his heart that he’d give up wanting leadership and the first one, I’d have done for him.”
The Ansaari said ok and returned to Rome to promise him both when he reached, he saw a group of people and he questioned where they were coming from? They responded that they came back from the burial of Jabala ibn al-Aiham, and they realised on a bad path.

---Reason why Jabala ibn al-Aihama ibn al-Aiham’s life ended this way
Anger and arrogance. Humility is important in Islaam. This is what Islaam came to destroy the concept of a human being better than another human.
Allah ﷻ says regarding being just and truthful:
Verily! Allâh commands that you should render back the trusts to those to whom they are due; and that when you judge between men, you judge with justice. Verily, how excellent is the teaching which He (Allâh) gives you! Truly, Allâh is Ever All-Hearer, All-Seer.
      [Surah An-Nisa 4:58]
"And come not near to the orphan’s property, except to improve it, until he (or she) attains the age of full strength; and give full measure and full weight with justice. We burden not any person, but that which he can bear. And whenever you give your word (i.e. judge between men or give evidence), say the truth even if a near relative is concerned, and fulfil the Covenant of Allâh. This He commands you, that you may remember
      [Surah Al-An’am 6:152]
Allah ﷻ says regarding the most honourable of people:
O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allâh is that (believer) who has At-Taqwâ [i.e. he is one of the Muttaqûn (the pious. See V.2:2)]. Verily, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Aware.
      - Anyone who gives virtue to a person because of where he is from is taking the path of shaytaan because shaytaan based virtue on where Adaam was from and where he is from. When [Satan] said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay [i.e., earth]." But Allah ﷻ based virtues on your actions and hardwork and not where you are from.
