Network+ is a gem if you are looking to start your certification journey. It definitely helped me with my CCNA, it was a "what to expect" kind of situation rather than just approaching something big as CCNA with a blank slate.
Great video once again tyler.
Thank you!!
That was fun! Net+ is awesome cert!
Sec+ over the Net+ all day. Nobody is looking for the Net+ on your resume. The information on it is great to learn though.
someone who only knows Security+ can't really do anything. Sys Admin will be the one making group policies or making firewall rules.
I have my A+, Net+, Linux+, and Sec+. Currently I’m studying for my CCNA.
I have all five and am still looking for a job!
@@leothalion3983 I have my A+ and Net +. Currently working in a Helpdesk. Have you put in for any Helpdesk position
Two time A+, currently studying Net+ then Sec+, CCNA then CCIE, then a cloud cert and so as a SysAdmin I get to do everything lots of fun
My job is paying for these exams best job I ever had.
@@justinkinsey5517 bro you are not touching CCIE
thats a super hard cert
theres less than 10 people in the world with every CCIE cert
just got the CCNP after if you want
But the hiring manager prefers security+ than network+. It's all about landing a jobs.
I would tend to agree, but from a learning standpoint, I always recommend the net+ prior to the sec+
Eventually in order to have a better grasp at sec+ it is necessary that you understand the concept of networking, kind of a building block situation if somebody is starting of in the industry without any prior knowledge.
I studied Net + but didn't take the test. I approached that as a precursor to the CCNA. Definitely does not go in depth compared to the CCNA and tbh, Net + gets you ready for the fundamentals but it won't for the depth of CCNA. For instance, I don't remember learning about Static routing or OSPF in Net + but I did learn the OSI model in both. The CCNA is my first cert. I think you should have picked the CCNA over Net plus for the same reason you picked AWS Cloud Practitioner over A+.
Static routing and OSPF are both on the Net+ exam objectives.
@@windthugness Oh that must be new because it definitely wasn't on there a couple years ago. If they added static routing, they should have added dynamic routing as well.
I started with AWS. I don't mind doing just cloud stuff. I just recently got the Cloud Practitioner foundational cert thru an AWS re/start program. I'm going for the Developer Cert next with AWS. I am of age, changing careers, and I'm really not trying to learn everything about IT. I just want to learn what I need to be an AWS cloud developer, and implement infrastructure as code, build CI/CD pipelines, and do a little bit of operational work in the cloud.
Sounds like a good plan, I don’t think the dev side benefits as much from knowing networking and foundational IT topics
You can't land a job with linux essentials. Network + max you can get, in the country I live, is support role, not different from what you can get with A+. CCNA is the best, it is harder but got me a better job, also it teaches you how to configure equipment hands on. Vendor specific certifications are usually better. You Boss doesn't wanna know if you understand theory, he wants his network running.
I still beg to differ, I believe starting with a comptia cert will be a better way to start off if you are BRAND NEW to tech. It won’t be as steep of a learning curve and could help build some initial confidence. I agree that for getting a job the CCNA is better but I do not believe it is a better first certification to go for.
@@ZeroDegreeTechtrue the point here is too actually make it and get your foot in the door as soon as possible. Im currently studying for Net+! Also is there like a discord with other people in the field that just like to hangout and maybe talk about there careers?
I am not sure, I am not on discord
Interesting video.
I agree with Network+ winning. but AWS Cloud Practictioner beating A+?
I just think it is more scalable, looking back, the a+ would likely be better for getting that first job…
KCNA or Kubernetes Cloud Native Associate is a better fit with docker associate than the CKA is. CKA is a rather advanced hands on exam, KCNA multiple choice.
Ahh ok, good to know. I was not aware that cert even existed
I’m studying for the net+ now. Already got the sec+ and cysa+ and thinking for going for the CCNA or a cloud cert
Good stuff!!
I have no IT experience but I'm reading in alot of spaces that the CCNA is the better cert to obtain...I'm hoping to get that and then a cloud cert like Azure..
The CCNA is a great cert, just be ready for a sharp learning curve if you are starting from ground 0, either way, good luck!!
@@ZeroDegreeTech thanks for the headsup
If I need to work on my Secuirty cert, do I need to start with Network first?
You don’t “need” to but I definitely think it would help :)
@@ZeroDegreeTech thank you for the info and the video. I’m looking for some videos to prep on security +, any suggestions? Or do I need to pay for some
This is a hot take video with AWS bias
I believe aws is easier to learn which is why it did better in a video about the best first cert
could you please share the roadmap somehow need to stick in the wall
if any changes that you can add it in update I appreciated
I think net plus, then Ccna is a great start! After that, you can pick which specialty you want to study!
Do you have any sentiment of redhat or terraform certs?
I know a fair bit of terraform but I am not certified, I am not very familiar with red hat though
This is a hot take video with AWS bias
You’re absolutely right, I love AWS☺️
