Kakuranger will always stand out to me as the one Sentai that did what others couldn't... make an all Female team, in the form of the Flower Gang. Cause, they never did anything similar ever since. It's a real shame that Power Rangers didn't use them.
This is 1 of the few Sentais I've seen from beginning to end (since it's hard to find full episodes subbed), and from what I've seen it is not only a good Sentai, but I feel its underrated.
@@hiEste You can't FIND legit releases and the DVDs are rare/expensive. Tubi, Pluto TV and Shout Factory TV have the older sentai (1980s/1990s/Early 2000s) but nothing newer than Huricanger. (So no Abaranger, Dekaranger, Magiranger, Gekiranger, Go-onger, or Shingenger, Goseiger, Gokaiger, Go-Busters, ToQger, Kyuranger, etc.)
The reason that Ninjaman was something of an afterthought was because the notion of a "Sixth Ranger" was still new at the time, with the only two prior to this one being the Dragon Ranger from Zyuranger (The Green Ranger in MMPR) and Kiba Ranger from Dairanger (the White Ranger). So Toei was still mulling over the idea of making it a permanent part of the series. That's why Ninjaman is a guy in a suit, to serve as a sort of compromise of being a new member, but also just another mech for the team to call upon. The production clearly hadn't gotten the hang of including another member of the team into the story just yet, and were still working with building a story around just the key team and no additional members.
Kakuranger is my favourite Sentai season, so it is so cool that is the first season you've seen. I hope you see more sentai seasons, I recommend you to see Go Busters.

My first exposure of Super Sentai is Gaoranger when i was very little. Just have to say, it deserves to be in the hall of fame. The morph is so iconic that Wild Force doesn't even bother changing the sequence. The storyline is great too, it has some tragedy to it too, but still a happy ending.

My first Super Sentai Series I've watched from start to finish was Ohranger. I actually loved Ohranger but I also heard it's not a very popular sentai series. Power Rangers (the first 10 years- including Ninja Storm) will always hold a special place in my heart. But, the Super Sentai series is pretty fun to watch. I'm currently watching Gingaman right now.
My Cousin told me about tubi two weeks ago, I have been watching Super Sentai Zyuranger, it's really cool to see the difference between MMPR and super sentai. Well, given the fact that you mentioned how this is your first time watching Super Sentai...Many people would have suggested this but Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger is one of the seasons that I too would suggest for you to watch first. Since it allows for the viewer to learn about past Super Sentai team. Gokaiger had been the reason why I was intrigued to check out past series (the ones that I had missed watching before). If you wish to watch something a little lighthearted, you can try Mahou Sentai Magiranger. Or even Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (I mean, there was one scene that seriously cracks me up despite it being part of the season's two-episode finale). Either way, good luck with your search. Have fun~
I recently bought the entire series of Jetman, Super Sentai's fifteenth season and I tried to introducing it to my brother and we spent three days watching all 51 episodes and we loved it.
I tried to watch "Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger" but I kind of stop halfway, it's a nice show I just can't keep the distance, I'm weak. Cool vid as always, congratz on the 30k. _M_Squad "go pew pew"
My first exposure to Sentai was back in 2014 with Shinkenger. Forgot how but then soon after I found Gokaiger when Super Megaforce was airing. I saw a few episodes then and compared it to Super Megaforce. I Ultimately didn’t start watching Sentai until a year ago. Gokaiger was the first Sentai that I watched from Start to Finish. Then went over to Shinkenger. Finished that, saw Goseiger. Finished that and then saw 9-10 episodes of GoGo V, then Stopped watching it (along with Sentai in general) cause of school. Now that quarantine hit, I began watching Kiramager and I gotta say I love it. But since Kiramager’s on Hiatus, I began watching Lupinranger vs Patoranger, I’m a little more than halfway through it and I gotta say that LuPat would make for a great Power Rangers Anniversary season IMO.
When i was young i watched Choudenshi Bioman, Hikari Sentai Maskman, Turbo Rangers. Also in the last few years ive watched Gokaiger and Go Busters, really liked both of them.
Hey, welcome aboard to the Toku Club! (It's not an actual thing, I'm just naming it.) My first outing with Sentai was surprisingly the big fight scene for the crossover between Goseiger and Gokaiger while my sister and I would watch Power Rangers Samurai. While I'm not sure if I assumed Goseiger was going to be the next adaptation at the time, I didn't think they'd sandwich both into the same package. Oh, right, Dairanger is an interesting idea being one of those "Never before seen on Earth" teams, which somehow crawled its way into Megaforce. But I think you'll enjoy it! I might've watched the retrospective from Marcosatsu, but I'm down to try it too. In case you're wondering, the first proper tokusatsu I saw years later was Kamen Rider W, and I found it hard to switch back since. Though I still find some Power Rangers series enjoyable, especially Wild Force, RPM, and S.P.D.
@@pathofthedragon I've never seen Go-onger but I hear it's a joke compared to the dark and destroyed world of RPM. (Pro racecar drivers turned Rangers). So yes, some seasons of Power Rangers are better than the original Sentai counterparts.

Personally, gokaiger is my fav Sentai. Learned soooo much about the old sentai in the process and started watching bc of it. I loved Shinkenger, Go-onger, Lupinranger vs Patoranger too!
Super sentai has more episodes and is more "episodic" because it's "part" of their culture. Every Sunday (through the year) you're going to watch Sentai and Kamen Rider in the morning. Exercising in the morning comes in the dances at the end of the episodes, this is something that we have up even to the recent series. That's why sentai and PR are so different.
I like how when talking about highest, SPD, RPM and InSpace are the one always used as background pic as a fun fact, the 3 ninja sentai have a weird dicotomy (tricotomy?) behind them: Kakuranger are ninja in the japanese pre-internet culture Hurricanger are ninja in japanese art (mainly theatre) while Ninniger are ninja as the world see them in the new millenium
I really enjoyed Ohranger. Glad to hear you've been checking out kamen rider. They're the soap operas of tokusatsu. First one I saw was kiva but my favorite spot goes to decade. I'm new to the channel so sorry if you covered it, theres a western adaptation of kamen rider ryuki called kamen rider dragon knight I really enjoyed
I recommend Megaranger since it is a great slice of life high school show about how hard it is for the rangers have to balance high school and being a ranger from beginning to end and they are also seniors too
Kakuranger is one of the Super Sentai shows I like the least. I actually think it's just meh overall. It has its cool ideas and cool moments but a lot of it feels all over the place in a lot of ways and you pointed most of them in the video (I particularly disagree about Ninjaman, I like him but you're kinda right). But hey, at least you liked it way better than me and had fun with it, so I'm happy for you and that it got you into super sentai! Since you like SPD, you'll probably love the hell out of Dekaranger. My particular favorites are Jetman, Timeranger and Gekiranger from the ones I watched. I also strongly recommend Changeman and Flashman if you want some 80s sentai too.
I think that you should watch Go-onger, shinkenger, Gobusters, magiranger. Those seasons have interesting plots and characters that are enjoyable to watch with each episode. Trust me when i say that these are perfect for getting into super sentai, you have my word. I promise you wont regret it
I've watched Gosei Sentai Dairanger a couple years ago, and look forward to hearing your thoughts about the show. Honestly, it was a waste to not have used the costumes from Dairanger, but having grown up in the '90's I would have found the color shift from Black to Green Ranger a little confusing, especially after the excellent 'Green With Evil' story arch . . . and the gender shift with the Yellow Ranger, as I don't think they could have passed off Kazu as a chick the way they did with Boi. The thing I liked least about Dairanger was Kibaranger (the White Ranger) - a 9 year-old running wild with no parental supervision, macking on the Pink Dairanger - though I think the real problem was the sharp contrast between Kou and Rin in comparison to Tommy and Kimberly. I just remember cringing during every scene that Kou was in.
DaiRanger was my introduction to Super Sentai outside the Dino Thunder Lost in Translation episode. i definitely recommend watching Zyuranger as it will help make since of the stock footage of the first 40 episodes the MMPR first season.

You should watch a few of the more recent seasons of Super Sentai. For example Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, Mashin Sentai Kiramager, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. All of these are my top favorites. You can also watch Kaitou Sentai LupinRanger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger, not my favorite but it was pretty good.
Jiraiya and Sasuke. Were there characters named Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi as well? Jokes aside, I went into Super Sentai with a similar mentality to you one week ago. Anime drew me to Japanese shows. I learned Kamen Rider and Power Rangers were from Japan over time and I figured why not try to get into it since I'm already into anime. I got into Kamen Rider, but I never fully got into Super Sentai. Then I decided to watch all of Go-Busters and it was awesome! I thought it was a great show and really funny.
Gokaiger was the first Sentai that i ever watched, and i loved it. SOOO much better than Megaforce by a huge margin. After that i watched Zyuranger. Personally, i prefer Zyuranger over Mighty Morphin' anyday. A lot of things make so much more sense in Zyuranger. Plus, the first episode of Mighty Morphin' i'm afraid hasn't aged well. Compared to EP 1 of Zyuranger, again, everything makes more sense and feels more natural. It's so jarring how when the rangers decide to morph to fight Goldar and the Putties, they suddenly get teleported to a city and the fight happens so quickly it's like WTF???
My first Sentai was Engine Sentai Go-Onger (Power Rangers RPM) back when it was airing in Japan along with my first Rider series, Kamen Rider Kiva which was airing alongside it.
I would really recommend you to watch Zyuranger as well, after you finish Dairanger. Both series are pretty good, though there is no Sentai that doesn't have its issues.
My first super sentai was lupin vs Pat Freaking loved it After that I watched ryusoulger and during ryusoulger I watch kyuranger which I loved too I started watching gokaiger but I haven't finished it yet
Kyoryuger is one the best super Sentais that over ever really seen, it mainly focuses on red, but the whole story overall is pretty great. Another series that was really good ToQger. I feel as if it’s an underrated series, the story unlocks itself along the way & it’s honestly the best thing ever.
I've recently watched zuyranger, dairanger, and I'm up to ninja sentai kakuranger and I'm learning that their zords From the first 3 seasons of Marie morphin Power Rangers. And i'm learning a lot more even though I watched it when I was a kid that this season are the alien rangers
First sentai i watched was shinkenger..but i got hints of Dekaranger from Clips of it online before SPD. That when i figured out that Power Rangers wasn't original. It came from Japan. And ive been a sentai fan ever since.
When you watch Dairanger, the thing you might want to do is to find what they use from that season, like weapons, vehicles, villains, and storyline that they used in other season of power rangers. Also you might want to check out Zyurangers to see why they choose the direction that the 1st season of MMPR took. Also if you look up Zyurangers 2 or Zyu2, you'll find that Japan had to make more stock footage for Power Rangers 2nd season. It's kind of interesting to compare super Sentai with Power Rangers. How different and similar they are together.
Awesome video welcome to super sentai and I started watching super sentai with kyoryuger and now I am still behind on ryusoulger and kiramager . I started watching Kamen rider with dragon knight and I then I watched kamen rider Gaim and fourze and wizard and drive and ghost and exaid and zio . Now I am still behind on kamen rider zero one . Congrats este to super sentai . I still like power rangers so much .
While not amazing, Kakuranger was a fun season to watch. I enjoyed it a bit more than Zyuranger, which was boring at times. I'm looking forward to the Dairanger review as that is one of my favorite Super Sentai.
Man, you got to watch them in order. Zyuranger is the one you gotta see; the series that pretty much laid the foundation for MMPR and the whole franchise.

ToQger is another one of those very fun seasons that I HIGHLY reccomend. It's very comedic, lighthearted and endearing.

I'm currently in the process of Marching through Megaranger.
I preferred Megaranger over Space. Note that I don't always prefer the Sentai to the Power Rangers. It's just a few cases.

I really enjoyed Ohranger. Glad to hear you've been checking out kamen rider. They're the soap operas of tokusatsu. First one I saw was kiva but my favorite spot goes to decade. I'm new to the channel so sorry if you covered it, theres a western adaptation of kamen rider ryuki called kamen rider dragon knight I really enjoyed
I recommend Megaranger since it is a great slice of life high school show about how hard it is for the rangers have to balance high school and being a ranger from beginning to end and they are also seniors too
Kakuranger is one of the Super Sentai shows I like the least. I actually think it's just meh overall. It has its cool ideas and cool moments but a lot of it feels all over the place in a lot of ways and you pointed most of them in the video (I particularly disagree about Ninjaman, I like him but you're kinda right).
But hey, at least you liked it way better than me and had fun with it, so I'm happy for you and that it got you into super sentai! Since you like SPD, you'll probably love the hell out of Dekaranger.
My particular favorites are Jetman, Timeranger and Gekiranger from the ones I watched. I also strongly recommend Changeman and Flashman if you want some 80s sentai too.

Kakuranger is one of the seasons that I like both the adaptation and the actual Japaneses version at the same time.
I think that you should watch Go-onger, shinkenger, Gobusters, magiranger. Those seasons have interesting plots and characters that are enjoyable to watch with each episode. Trust me when i say that these are perfect for getting into super sentai, you have my word. I promise you wont regret it

I've watched Gosei Sentai Dairanger a couple years ago, and look forward to hearing your thoughts about the show.
Honestly, it was a waste to not have used the costumes from Dairanger, but having grown up in the '90's I would have found the color shift from Black to Green Ranger a little confusing, especially after the excellent 'Green With Evil' story arch . . . and the gender shift with the Yellow Ranger, as I don't think they could have passed off Kazu as a chick the way they did with Boi. The thing I liked least about Dairanger was Kibaranger (the White Ranger) - a 9 year-old running wild with no parental supervision, macking on the Pink Dairanger - though I think the real problem was the sharp contrast between Kou and Rin in comparison to Tommy and Kimberly. I just remember cringing during every scene that Kou was in.

DaiRanger was my introduction to Super Sentai outside the Dino Thunder Lost in Translation episode. i definitely recommend watching Zyuranger as it will help make since of the stock footage of the first 40 episodes the MMPR first season.
You should watch Kyuranger and ToQger. They're one of the best post-Gokaiger shows imo

You should watch a few of the more recent seasons of Super Sentai. For example Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, Mashin Sentai Kiramager, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. All of these are my top favorites. You can also watch Kaitou Sentai LupinRanger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger, not my favorite but it was pretty good.

Jokes aside, I went into Super Sentai with a similar mentality to you one week ago. Anime drew me to Japanese shows. I learned Kamen Rider and Power Rangers were from Japan over time and I figured why not try to get into it since I'm already into anime. I got into Kamen Rider, but I never fully got into Super Sentai. Then I decided to watch all of Go-Busters and it was awesome! I thought it was a great show and really funny.
Kyuranger is the first sentai I am currently watching and I'm loving its mix between fun and story so far
My first encounter with Super Sentai is with that Dino Thunder episode where they watch a full episode of Abaranger(their Sentai counterpart).
Gokaiger was the first Sentai that i ever watched, and i loved it.
SOOO much better than Megaforce by a huge margin.
After that i watched Zyuranger. Personally, i prefer Zyuranger over Mighty Morphin' anyday. A lot of things make so much more sense in Zyuranger.
Plus, the first episode of Mighty Morphin' i'm afraid hasn't aged well. Compared to EP 1 of Zyuranger, again, everything makes more sense and feels more natural. It's so jarring how when the rangers decide to morph to fight Goldar and the Putties, they suddenly get teleported to a city and the fight happens so quickly it's like WTF???
Gokaiger was great, which makes the PR version look even worse than it already did.
Fun facts: jiraiya(black ninja) was ultraman powered 😳😳😳

KakuRanger will always be my favorite series. Tsuruhime is my all time favorite out of the 200+ sentai members.

My first Sentai was Engine Sentai Go-Onger (Power Rangers RPM) back when it was airing in Japan along with my first Rider series, Kamen Rider Kiva which was airing alongside it.
I would really recommend you to watch Zyuranger as well, after you finish Dairanger. Both series are pretty good, though there is no Sentai that doesn't have its issues.

Kyoryuger is one the best super Sentais that over ever really seen, it mainly focuses on red, but the whole story overall is pretty great.
Another series that was really good ToQger. I feel as if it’s an underrated series, the story unlocks itself along the way & it’s honestly the best thing ever.
I've recently watched zuyranger, dairanger, and I'm up to ninja sentai kakuranger and I'm learning that their zords From the first 3 seasons of Marie morphin Power Rangers. And i'm learning a lot more even though I watched it when I was a kid that this season are the alien rangers
First sentai I watched from beginning to end happened to be Abaranger. So good :)
First sentai i watched was shinkenger..but i got hints of Dekaranger from Clips of it online before SPD. That when i figured out that Power Rangers wasn't original. It came from Japan. And ive been a sentai fan ever since.

When you watch Dairanger, the thing you might want to do is to find what they use from that season, like weapons, vehicles, villains, and storyline that they used in other season of power rangers. Also you might want to check out Zyurangers to see why they choose the direction that the 1st season of MMPR took. Also if you look up Zyurangers 2 or Zyu2, you'll find that Japan had to make more stock footage for Power Rangers 2nd season.
It's kind of interesting to compare super Sentai with Power Rangers. How different and similar they are together.

Awesome video welcome to super sentai and I started watching super sentai with kyoryuger and now I am still behind on ryusoulger and kiramager . I started watching Kamen rider with dragon knight and I then I watched kamen rider Gaim and fourze and wizard and drive and ghost and exaid and zio . Now I am still behind on kamen rider zero one . Congrats este to super sentai . I still like power rangers so much .

While not amazing, Kakuranger was a fun season to watch. I enjoyed it a bit more than Zyuranger, which was boring at times. I'm looking forward to the Dairanger review as that is one of my favorite Super Sentai.

Not sure about the PW versions but the original Dekaranger (SPD) and Boukenger (Overdrive(?)) are two of the best SS series I’ve ever watched.
Man, you got to watch them in order. Zyuranger is the one you gotta see; the series that pretty much laid the foundation for MMPR and the whole franchise.
