That was sweet. Linking the Awdry's directly to the timeline on the railway, getting Edward out again, and the speech and tribute at the end.. it's terrific.
Wilbert was a marvel of a man among Railway men and women. His stories have inspired everyone, and many railways have prospered from saving MANY engines from scrap.
Well done on a wonderful story! The Reverend would be thrilled to see so many people still love his works and that he is being blessed long after his passing.
NWR1991, this story brought a tear to my eye :') Thomas and his Friends have always been part of my life and I'm always thankful for Wilbert Awdry and his books! Without him, Thomas wouldn't even exist! Excellent job as always and long live Thomas the Tank Engine and all his friends!
There won't be another man like him and Christopher that can keep the RWS going and alive from it's slumber. May Mr. Awdry himself rest in peace with his friends on Sodor continuing to carry on the legacy he left to them and the rest of the world. Their hearts, with his spirit by their side, will indeed go on.
This was a very sweet and heartfelt episode. I loved the idea of Wilbert being the cause of the first story. This was a great way to celebrate 70 years of TTTE. Thank you.
Such a beautiful story. I liked how the one red engine was cross with the other engines for teasing Edward. Shows that not all of them were jerks. Happy 70th birthday, Railway Series.
Thanks so much for this wonderful, tear inducing, story. I was really hoping you'd make a story revolving around the 70th anniversary of the Railway Series. I couldn't stop smiling at the end when you showed Rev. W. Awdry's picture. It was also nice to see Gordon and James in their original colors, Henry in his original shape, and the extra engine that faded into the background. My biggest awe probably came from how Edward's flashback leads directly into the Railway Series. I can hardly wait to see where you go next. I will look forward to it.
I have to say this really was a lovely episode. So heart-warming; I don't often get those kinda feels when I watch a fan-made production, so I really commend you for making it achieve this effect. Yes there are quite a few good fan productions out there but how many have that heart-warming feel? Such a thing is certainly rarer even in a great fan-made production. I love seeing Gordon and Henry smile as Edward finishes his story too; it just shows how much they have changed since those days. No sympathy for Edward at all back then but they soon came to respect him as a valuable asset and friend. Makes it all the more special with the inclusion of the Rev W Awdry himself to make it happen :)
Such a great story. I remember some of the other engines saying the driver will not choose you again in the TV Episode Edward and Gordon, This is such wonderful tribute to the Rev W Awdry, so moving and heartfelt.
That is a very sweet story and I think that's a wonderful idea to celebrate Thomas and Friends on their 70th Anniversary. The story was cleverly thought up and I liked how you got Edward to tell his story to Shane. It worked and excellent use of 'The Island Song' instrumental. It played in just right on the episode :). The Rev.W.Awdry was indeed a remarkable man. He brought all of Thomas and his friends to life in his books and because of his books, we all got to love Thomas and all of his friends. Even in the television series, more and more new characters came to the Thomas world. May Thomas and all of his friends continue to entertain us for another 70 years, no matter if the fans are old or young :).
Another masterpiece. If I must be brutally honest, you have a way of storytelling that is unique, and all your own. No one else has your style which is unique. I commend you for a job well done.
I cried for the first time since my head accident of october 2014 you my friend made the best story any Thomas fan could have done you deserve a hug and an award
What a wonderful tribute to Rev Wilbert Awdry and his railway stories. May many more fans, old and new, continue watching, composing, computer editing, and even voice acting for our steam and Diesel engine friends.
Honestly, Edward is one of the best engines in the entire series. Sure Thomas is my favorite, but Edward is from an era where steam trains were taking very unique design choices, and so he’s part of the final few years where Wild West Locomotives were still very prominent types of trains in America, and much of his designs call back to that era in a much more refined vintage gentlemen kind of look. Edward is a grand old engine, and is honestly one of the most important engines on the island. Thank you Wilbert. You and my grandfather helped to bring trains into my life.
I really do enjoy watching your series among others. Even though your series includes characters and elements from the newer seasons, it truly captures the spirit of the older seasons. I admire that.
I think its amazing how far we have come in 70 years! Who'd of thought way back in 1945 that one man writing one book could spawn such a legacy that is still going strong today. Alright we haven't had a book in years but we've got the television series and the fan made stories now!
Your best work yet! I agree, this has been a wonderful franchise, all thanks to Revered Wilbert Awdry! I must say, the 70th anniversary of Thomas the Tank Engine really has been the best as of now!
This almost felt like a prequel to The Adventure Begins in a way. I love the expansion prior to Edwards Day Out and the fact that you made Wilbert be the one to set the stories in motion was an ingenious move on your part. I also like how you adapted the dialogue during Wilbert and Topham's discussion from the real life event that originated the original books. That ending also really hit me in the feels.
Such a great episode and a good tribute to the Rev W Awdry who started up the stories for his son Christopher when he was sick who later on to carry on the story of Thomas
Gordon, Henry, and James Got roasted Boy Edward when the three engines said THE driver wont choose you again unti THE fireman and THE driver came and made Edward move again and Edward said look at ME now
+NWR1991 I got good news I fixed error after looking at the LONG list I found the error typed in the number three and got Thomas working. now to fix all the rest of the engines I said in the other comment
I do have one question if you don't mind, did James already come to Sodor by then rather than him being introduce in the Thomas and the Breakdown Train?
Just to ask out of curiosity, if someone made a pretty good model of Hank, do you think you would include him in your series? Then you would have an official American engine on Sodor, and I'm sure some people would like to hear about his back story about when he worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad.
Maybe but I might make him a one-off character with purpose of being on Sodor as well as leaving Sodor. I did remember writing him a story on SI3D forums back in 2012 but it's now gone after they've revamped the forum.
NWR1991 But don't you think it'd be better if you had him stay as a member of the NWR fleet? After all, with his size and strength, he'd be able to pull longer and heavier goods trains, and with his speed, he'd be able to pull the express with ease. After all, the K4s were built to pull the Pennsylvania Railroad's Broadway Limited, as well as many other fast passenger/express trains. Plus, I'm sure Rosie would be happy to have another US built steam locomotive on Sodor.
Alright, so lemme start off by saying I absolutely LOVED the concept of this video. I found it very sweet to tie in the universes together by having the Reverend come to the railway, and actually be the spark that sets the RWS in motion. However, concept and ideas are rarely enough to make the story itself good, and that is the case here. I find the execution horribly flawed. Your narration quite often delves into extra bits we don't need to hear, and sometimes seems to ramble. And while I'm quite happy that you have begun using actual SFX instead of in-game audio, you really need to work on it's consistency and how it sounds in general. The steam hissing every few seconds at the start was frankly annoying, and some SFX later felt really out of place. Again, very sweet idea behind it all, but the execution really lets it down, I'm sorry to say.
I'm sorry I thought he was talking about the quality of the sound :P but when it comes to my writing I'll be honest, I'm not a perfect writer and I don't know too much about writing scripts. I'm in hopes of learning about it one day. I'm happy if people can give me a few pointers on improvement :)
NWR1991 Here's a few quick tips. 1) Less focus on the superficial aspects of storytelling, that means the history, types of engine class etc etc. While having these aspects is nice, it's not the most important aspect to telling a story, and too much of it can detract a story's entertainment value. 2) More concise stories, simple one here, just don't ramble over things that never get resolved, references are nice, unnecessary information isn't. :P 2) Show don't tell, this is standard for storytelling, especially when it comes to a visual medium. Your stories are very narration heavy, and while this isn't necessarily a problem, the visuals tend to be quite bland, and dull. Remember the WW2 story where you held on that shot of the radio for god knows how long? Yeah, less of that. :P 3) Make the point of the story the characters and not the event. With a number of your stories, you tend to base them off real life events, and that's good, very much like how the Rev did it. But I find that often you focus too much on the event, and not the characters that put said event into motion. Your stories tend to be literal copies of the event only just having the sodor engines. The characters needs to be more of a catalyst. 4) The characters and morals. I would like it for every story to have the characters learn something to move on from (whether it be engines or crew, yes! The crew could learn morals too ;)). But I understand that when producing a series with this many stories that can be difficult to achieve, especially if you're a one man army. As well as that, when there is a moral, it tends to be a bit forced. More subtlety is needed in this regard, The audience can figure out what the character has learnt and how they will move on, you don't need the character to spell it out to us. We're smarter than that. ;) 5) Finally, the direction. Not technically writing, but the two are very intertwined. Your direction, to be blunt, needs more flair, and more style to it. You have trainz for crying out loud, you have none of the physical limitations of models, USE IT! :P Directing is very important, and I can't really give solid instructions (we all develop our own style when we really get going) but my suggestion is this phrase. "Every second matters, every shot, every angle, every frame matters, never simply go, oh well, it's just an angle, ask yourself why it needs to be that particular angle, and how it helps the story be told." That's all the advice I can give at the moment. I hope to see some improvements in the future. :)
i've downloaded anything that i could find on sodor island 3d, sodor workshop, etc. but none of them work or are missing half the tracks, grass or any other part of them.
That was sweet. Linking the Awdry's directly to the timeline on the railway, getting Edward out again, and the speech and tribute at the end.. it's terrific.

actually if it wasn't for him and his son Thomas wouldn't even exist

Wonderful my friend! I honestly began to cry when Edward pulled out and the Island Song began playing. Happy 70th everyone! :D

+J L Khalaf At the end of the last book, Christopher Awdry wrote "The End" clearly to bring an end to the series.
Maybe Christopher's son, Richard can write series.

He forever will smile
I think he is proud of what he has done making the railway series books
That was beautiful. Happy 70th Anniversary to _The Railway Series_!

Meaning he would be there for a few episodes and had to go somewhere and not returning
NWR1991 But don't you think it'd be better if you had him stay as a member of the NWR fleet? After all, with his size and strength, he'd be able to pull longer and heavier goods trains, and with his speed, he'd be able to pull the express with ease. I think TFC has enough steam engines now :P

very very well made i must ask whats the intro song

i've downloaded anything that i could find on sodor island 3d, sodor workshop, etc. but none of them work or are missing half the tracks, grass or any other part of them.
Duncan it's very complex to me, I suggest help on the Sodor Island 3D forums
Who put this bowl of onions

Where 98462 and 87546?
Leon Xu they didn’t appear
You forgot that May 2015 is Thomas' 100th birthday in the storyline.
There was never any proof by the Awdrys that Thomas came to Sodor in May.
NWR1991 yes all we have kown is that thomas went to sodor in 1915.
Whose the red engine in the sheds?
ryanbelcher25rb The Red Engine is called 'Winston.'
Elliot Killick-Ward Or "Eagle"
