This Glasgow performance is the best live rendition of George Benson playing 'Don't know Why' that I've heard. Yes, we can hear the girl on the toms come in late at one point which from his facial expressions at the time didn't go unnoticed by George, however he did try his best to cover for her publicly afterwards, by making it known she was fairly new to the group, having only joined up with them 2-weeks earlier. A more subtle way of saying 'forgive the mistake please'.

This song was written by Jesse Harris and _performed_ by Norah Jones. Just because it became a pop hit doesn't mean it isn't a lovely melody. In fact, that's probably why it became a hit: it __is__ a lovely melody. And now it's starting to stand the test of time as other great artists seek to interpret it. George Benson is a wonderful performer. And he's a grown up. He plays songs he thinks his audience will enjoy. You're actually insulting him if you think he can't find pop songs that he admires and enjoys playing. Over time, this is exactly how songs become standards: talented artists recognize the quality, and keep picking them out to be played.
