    I live in the North where we have long winters. I wear sunscreen everyday even in the house. I don't care to be in the sun much, though I love to see the sunshine. So, I stay protected in the summer. I have been taking 5000 units of VD per day. Got my blood work back and my FP told me it was too high, and I need to cut back. I have never had the gel nails. In my opinion I think long fingernails make aged hands look older. They draw attention to the hands. I'm 67, I keep my polished, but short. I use tretinoin on them every night and sunscreen and driving gloves when I'm out. This practice has certainly kept age spots at bay.

    • @nicolad8822
      @nicolad8822 8 місяців тому

      No need to wear sunscreen in the house for heavens sake. From the UK NHS website…..
      Taking too many vitamin D supplements over a long period of time can cause too much calcium to build up in the body (hypercalcaemia). This can weaken the bones and damage the kidneys and the heart.
      If you choose to take vitamin D supplements, 10 micrograms a day will be enough for most people.
      Do not take more than 100 micrograms (4,000 IU) of vitamin D a day as it could be harmful. This applies to adults, including pregnant and breastfeeding women and the elderly, and children aged 11 to 17 years.
      Children aged 1 to 10 years should not have more than 50 micrograms (2,000 IU) a day. Infants under 12 months should not have more than 25 micrograms (1,000 IU) a day.
      Some people have medical conditions that mean they may not be able to safely take as much. If in doubt, you should consult your doctor.
      If your doctor has recommended you take a different amount of vitamin D, you should follow their advice.

    About the gel manicures. I’m a manicurist and I’m very sun protection and blue light protection obsessed AANNDD I had a melanoma on my hand that I got removed that was caused by UV lamps. There are red lights that cure gels and I always wear spf on myself and on my clients hands and I also wear and put gloves on them because we don’t have red lamps yet but when I work independently I’ll definitely use one.

There are a lot of clear coats you can get that dry your nails very quickly, so takes away the need for the UV light.

Or those friends who eat the typical unhealthy diets and snacks with smooth skin they even dislike allot of healthy foods. Also some people have acne since they were an early teen and into very late adulthood..
    There’s also people who eat really healthy and exercise e.g salmon 2-3x a week but they still look glowing BUT aged in their 30s or there’s those that again still struggle with stubborn acne.
