ive got a 330d x drive saloon and I get an average of 44mpg on a mix of towns in luxury mode. I drive briskly rather than flat out. ive never checked if the computer is telling the truth though. A seriously great car it never fails to make me smile.
Have the same vehicle just 1 year newer without x-drive. Real life consumption 45 mpg (UK)combined 50% motorway and 50% town etc during summer when hot and now without traffic. During winter drops to 40 mpg as engine worms up much slower. BMW states unreal mpg for 6 cylinder engine (56 mpg) however still very economical compared to the previous models. Can't find any consumption test on the version without x-drive except forums.
Not that I care but It is pretty strange , but mine e91 330xd does pretty same above 130km/h, with 6 gears (auto) . 2 more gears but no improvement in consumption. Looks like u drove with winter tyres in summer…?
+Dominic Madbull I estimate it to be around 10l / 100km, but it depends a lot in which kind of town you drive and how the driving conditions are (lots of stopping and accelerating is killing for your consumption).
guitigefilmpjes I mean i live in Europe Albania in my country in town the traffic is heavy i was thinking buying an 330d so 10l is the consumption of your new bmw,the 2003 2006 it might consume around 12-13l/100km in town i think
+Dominic Madbull Don't forget that the xDrive also adds another 1 to 1,5l per 100km to the fuel consumption. I am driving a lot in Hamburg, the BMW X5 3.0d (2009 / E70) would use around 11 to 12 liters / 100km in city traffic (lots of stop and go) and the BMW 520d Touring (2012 / F11) about 7,5 to 8l/100. So if you consider a BMW 330d without xDrive, I would lower the fuel consumption in this video by around 1,0l / 100km.
Mines pretty bad on fuel I get around 36 mpg and in honesty I had a mk7 gtd before this with a stage one revo map on it and there isn’t much in performance in the 2 until u get to around 100mph (track or private road of course) the the 330d pulls way ahead. But the gtd was far better for mpg
@@sabinislami8884 still at least 30hp less, but your missing something talking about hp. It’s about torque and the 330d would run laps around the gtd!… yes Iv owned both
The petrol engine is much more simple. No turbo, no EGR valve, the injectors fail less frequently compared to diesel. The diesel engine works at a much higher pressure that equals more stress on the engine parts. The dual-mass flywheel is expensive as F. And lastly, come on- who would drive a lame diesel
Don t be clueless...you can drive this car more than 300k miles if you do normal period maintenance, father of my friend break 700k kilometers on 3.0d...6cylinders is always better option
Thank you very much for this video, it was just what i've been looking for. I've wanted to buy this car for some time now and hesitated only because haven't found these fuel consumption number (real numbers) anywhere... btw, what drive mode you had on during this test?
@@HerrBeatMaster Ecopro helps consumption on combined driving, make the throttle less sensitive. so ecopro while driving at same speed for a long time will not help. And on some models of these i heared ecopro decreases the turbo boost unless you press the kickdown effect
@@HerrBeatMaster from my experience it does more (eu model). reducing aircondition to a low level and keep the alternator just engaging while slowing down (if battery allows). helps not supermuch, but it's somehow noticeable. maybe theres some more, not sure about.
I am literally clueless concerning cars. So can anyone plz tell me, from a scale of 1 to 10 (the higher the more efficient), how gas efficient is this car? I didnt understand much from the video. If i had to guess I'd say it is very efficient...?
+Sethuna “The Ascended” Hi Sethuna, it is hard to answer your question with a simple answer, as you need to know what you are comparing. A large SUV will always use more fuel then a small car, but still can be fuel efficient. A petrol and a diesel engine are also hard to compare. So it comes down not only to comparing the same classes of cars, but also the same types of engines. For a 6-cylinder engine, this one is indeed quite efficient.
This car is top..great automatic gearbox, also fuel consumption is more than you would except and ypu have torque beast, stage 2 map push this car to almost 400hp and around 800nm of torque, and driving is best among all. It s BMW afterall, european point of view, but if i was american i would drive some nasty old school muscle car, ford chevrollete etc...thise v8 cars are classy
It's a great car... i have a late 2014 model but my average MPG has been stuck at 36.9 for an eternity. Might press the reset button and see what happens.
200 km/h and not even 3,000 rpm? This is awesome! :)
Sure it's nice. I have 3500RPM when driving 200km/h. Mine is 2.0T petrol though :)
Mercedes W205 I have 3000 rpm when driving 140 km/h :D

You must be driving like a grandad to get that figure, why bother with a 330 if you drive it like a dead meatbag

the fact that there will be expensive repair on a diesel engine minimizes the low fuel cons
LOL and petrol with their direct injection not?

My F31 (rwd) 330d with 4 people on board had an average fuel consumption of 7.6l. Cruise speed 160km / h measured over a distance of 20km.
Take a look at those wingenerators at 2:36: He is driving with headwind, which has quite an impact on the fuel consumption at such a high speed.
