  • A team of researchers from the University of Calgary are working to better understand how the ocean and atmosphere communicate and exchange green house gases. The team, led by associate professor Dr. Brent Else, have established a weather station and multiple water sampling stations near Victoria Island in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut. With the data collected they hope to establish a baseline of results focused on carbon cycling in the atmosphere as well as CO2 levels and total alkalinity in the nearby waters. The team from U of C explain how this data is collected and why these findings are not only important for this specific region, but in other Arctic areas as well.
