I own a Kia Sorento Gen 1 the 2.5TD automatic with 170bhp. It's a good car it's easy for me to get in and out of considering I had a stroke 2 years ago, but later on this year I'll be looking to buy a Gen 2 , they look alright to me and a lot more refined than what I have now.
I'm convinced the value is there with the Sorento. I only need a 5 seater but was doubtful the turbo could handle it. So I was considering the V6 which comes with a third row I don't need. The sales rep was great and I'll try the turbo and your suggestion was much appreciated. Thanks!
You'll see the turbo is very powerful, enough for a five-seater. The third row is only for children or your worst enemies. ;-)
I was impressed with the turbo in sport mode in the Sportage for smooth power delivery. I also think the outward visibility is better in the Sorento due to stylistic hood bumps on the hood of the Sportage. If I get the Sorento it will be a terrific vehicle to travel in with all our stuff and maybe sleep in the back once in a while at a campground. My wife is very good about these suggestions. Our last trip was to Grand Coulee Dam in Washington state and I had some concerns about the Accord konking out on one desolate desert stretch. We made it back to our cabin near Penticton without any problems.
I've liked the Sorento for a long time and suspect the 2016 model is too big. I test drove a 2017 Sportage SX today and the list price here is $43,000. I don't feel the value is there due to uncomfortable headrests, no CD player and too many hard plastic surfaces for the top trim. I should have taken a 2016 left over Sorento home to see if it fits in my garage. I find the dealers sense I'm responsible enough to take a vehicle out by myself or I can't concentrate on the vehicle. While I'm bad mouthing the Sportage I was shocked at the poor sound quality of the stereo. My old 1998 Accord EX V6 is much better.
I didn't test the 2017 Sportage yet, it will be in a few weeks, but I tested the 2016 Sorento last spring and really liked it with the 2.0 turbo. If it fits your garage, I think it's a great choice. And you will have plenty of space and comfort inside...

I'm looking at buying a Sorento and would have appreciated an owner's comment on their experience rather than the car reviewers. So it was a disappointment and let's be honest, I'm too old and not bright enough to learn French. Thanks anyway.
