മൂലകഥ
(സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ ശൂരപത്മാസുരനെ നിഗ്രഹിച്ച കഥ സ്കന്ദപുരാണത്തിലുള്ളത് നിരവധി കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ ചേർത്ത് വികസിപ്പിച്ചതാണ് ഈ കഥ)
കഥാസാരം
ദേവേന്ദ്രനും ഇന്ദ്രാണിയുമായുള്ള ശ്രിങ്കാരപദത്തോടെയാണ് കഥ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. ശൂരപത്മൻ ഇന്ദ്രാണിയെ അപഹരിക്കും എന്നുള്ള കാര്യം നാരദൻ ഇന്ദ്രനെ അറിയിക്കുന്നു. ഇന്ദ്രാണിയെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനായി സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യന്റെ കിങ്കരനായ മഹാകാളനെ ഇന്ദ്രൻ ഏല്പിച്ചിട്ടു സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യന്റെ സമീപത്തേക്കു പോയി. ശൂരപത്മന്റെ സഹോദരി അജമുഖി ഇന്ദ്രാണിയെ ലളിത വേഷത്തിൽ സമീപിച്ചു പ്രലോഭിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോകാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു. മഹാകാളൻ അജമുഖിയുടെ കരങ്ങൾ ഛേദിച്ചു ഇന്ദ്രാണിയെ രക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.
അജമുഖി ശൂരപത്മനെ സമീപിച്ചു തനിക്കു നേരിട്ട ദുരവസ്ഥ അറിയിക്കുന്നു. ഈ വിവരം അറിഞ്ഞ ശൂരപുത്രനായ ഭാനുകോവൻ ഇന്ദ്രൻ തുടങ്ങിയ ദേവന്മാരെ ബന്ധിച്ചു അസുരപുരിയിൽ എത്തിച്ചു.
പരമശിവന്റെ വരബലത്തോടെയാണ് ശൂരൻ ഇപ്രകാരമെല്ലാം ചെയ്യുന്നതെന്ന് വീരബാഹു സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യനോട് പറഞ്ഞു. ദേവന്മാരുടെ ദുഃഖങ്ങളും അറിയിച്ചു. സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ ശൂരവധത്തിനായി തയാറെടുത്തു. ആദ്യം വീരബാഹുവും അസുരന്മാരും തമ്മിൽ പോരാടി വീരബാഹു ശൂരപുത്രനെ വധിച്ചു.
തുടർന്ന് ശൂരപത്മനും സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യനും തമ്മിൽ ഏറ്റുമുട്ടി. സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ ശൂരപത്മനെ നിഗ്രഹിച്ചു ബന്ദികളായ ദേവന്മാരെ മോചിപ്പിച്ചു. ദേവന്മാർ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യനെ സ്തുതിക്കുന്നതോടു കൂടി കഥ അവസാനിക്കുന്നു.

Scene-1: Ajamukhi
Ajamukhi (played as KARI Vesham), sister of Shoorapadmasura is plotting to kidnap Indrani, the wife of Indra. To carry out her plan, she decided to disguise herself as a beautiful damsel - Lalitha.
Scene-2 Lalitha, Indrani & Mahakalan
Disguised as beautiful dasmel Lalitha, Ajamukhi approaches Indrani, attempting to lure her into a trap to deliver her to Shoorapadmasura. Sensing the impending danger, Indrani remains wary. Realising her deceit has failed, Ajamukhi reveals her true form and tries to forcibly abduct Indrani. In the ensuing struggle, Indrani' s guard, Mahakalan intervenes to protect her and ultimately chops of Ajamukhi' s hands to save Indrani.
Scene-3:Ajamukhi & Shoorapadman
Ajamukhi battered and wounded, staggers into her brother Shoorapadma' s (Kathi Vesham) durbar, recounting the events with anguish and rage. Enraged by his sister' s ordeal, Shoorapadma vows venegeance and begins to prepare for revenge.
Scene-4: Lord Subrahmanya & Veerabahu
Veerabahu, the chieftain of Lord Subrahmanya' s army reports on Shoorapadman who has gained immense power through a boon from Lord Paramashiva after an intense tapas. In response, Lord Subrahmanya dispatches Veerabahu and his army to confront and challenge Shoorapadman.
Scene-5: Shoorapadman & Veerabahu
Following the counsel and directive of Lord Subrahmanya, Veerabahu approached Shoorapadman attempting to offer wise counsel and advice. However Shoorapadman angered and dismissed Veerabahu and ordered him to leave immediately.
Scene-6: Lord Subrahmanyan & Veerabahu
Veerabahu returns to Lord Subrahmanya and explains the encounter with Shoorapadman, detailing his cruelty and refusal to listen. He implores, "My lord, it is evident that only you can put an end to this tyranny.
Scene-7: Shoorapadman & Lord Subrahmanyan
Lord Subrahmanya confronts Shoorapadma and a fierce battle ensues. In the end, Lord Subrahmanya emerges victorious, slaying Shoorapadman and putting an end to his oppression.
scene-8: Lord Subrahmanya. Indra & Narada
Indra, Narada and other Devas praise Lord Subrahmanya by expressing their profound gratitude for saving them.
