Shell, I had the great honor to meet your father in Sacramento about 11 years ago when he met and talked also to my wife, who is from Japan. He especially mentioned Unagi (grilled eel), and he said it was his favorite Japanese food! He was such a kind man, and such an INCREDIBLY gifted piano player. A jazzman's jazz player. So, so underrated. You should be very, very proud. One of jazz's alltime greats.

What a beautiful Christmas album! I was searching for some worthwhile jazz Christmas music and finally came across this after sampling a lot of uninspiring stuff. This is now at the top of my list.
I met Eddie Higgins at a cocktail party in Ann Arbor, Michigan back in the 1990s. He was nice enough to talk to me about all of his work with so many jazz greats over his career. He was a marvelous musician and a real gentleman. Meeting and talking with him was a genuine privilege. You had a terrific Dad, Shell.
Fortunate to have worked with Eddie Higgins, a few times in the 1990's in Florida...a gentleman, humourous, volumes of history, and a wonderful pianist. 'Twas an extreme pleasure.
This album is in my top 2 all time for Christmas records, along with Charlie Brown/Vince Gauraldi. Both were on repeat all day in my home on Christmas Day this year. I would LOVE to see this reissued on vinyl.

I was listening to Guaraldi’s xmas album . When it was done, the next offering was Mr Higgins. To me, its sounds very comparable to Guaraldi’s. The only difference is that VG’s group used the brush on the drums on many tunes. Higgins group doesn’t. Still enjoying Higgins music!
The first time I heard this cd was on a Southwest plane before take off last year. I asked the flight attendant who this was and she told me. I found it on UA-cam last year and played it all during Christmas time. Finally purchased it this year.
They came on my Pandora, and I LOVED what I heard! So I went and found this on youtube, and now I've ordered the CD online, and just waiting for it to get here. This is exactly what I'm looking for when I wanna play background Christmas music! This is an awesome album!

This album is so awesome! It puts a big smile on my face when I listen. I can imagine all sorts of settings where this would be the perfect live music to have. I, for one, would love to sit and watch these musicians as they performed live! Thanks for putting together such a great arrangement of tunes for Christmas!

Jazzy Christmas tunes are the best and this is a nice one; listening to it for the 1st time.

I used to hear Eddie with Ira Sullivan down in fort Lauderdale...Eddie was a beautiful, impeccable, creative player.

Higgins is backed by Jay Leonhart on bass and the late, great Joe Ascione on drums.
I heard both of these musicians many times at various jazz festivals. Joe was my favorite drummer.
