This is my first season on 10 meter being a new technician and I've got my log filling up fast. Lithuania, Namibia, Ireland. Appreciate the informative videos ! 73
Yesterday on 10m band VK’s were strong into central England so you are spot on, I’m only using a vertically mounted mono band EFHW wire up a pole at 5 meters off the ground and getting superb results now conditions have improved
I will admit that I haven't used the radio in the shack for a few weeks, as I've been busy outdoors making contacts. But the trees will soon shed their leaves and I'll be reconfiguring the antennas for another winter of ham radio indoors.
A few years ago and I can't remember when exactly and I know this isn't ham radio but it was in the AM band but it was probably late winter early spring here in Minnesota and I was able to tune in WSM radio in Nashville on radio shack multi band radio it was faint but I was able to hear it pretty clear. I'm going to try to see if I can hear it again this fall and winter again this year. And as you know that's close to 900 miles away so I was blown away by the propagation.
That's a pretty common occurrence in the winter months. Most AM stations are required to cut power after dark to reduce interference, but there are a few clear channel stations that are allowed full power at night. WLS, WSM, KDKA are just a few. When conditions are right, you'll hear them come in from hundreds, if not a thousand miles.
After the equinox we still certainly see a marked improvement on the 10 meter band. This summers violent solar activity really did a number on the upper bands.

10 meters is such a great band for DX, as the season changes, you have opportunity to catch even more.
good for you,
when 10 is good you can make amazing contacts with not that much power
time to fix my antennas for this winter
KB9VBR Antennas, you're on fire with your videos
10 is picking up for sure. My son just passed his tech, good timing. He got his 1st dx the other day at 11 years old.

If propagation stays like it is today it’ll be awesome!
Agreed
I have noticed in the last week the propagation has gotten way better. I am able to hear alot more pota stations from home when hunting
Good Job!
Thank You :)
Today has been amazing!
10 opened up in a big way over the weekend.
If it's anything like today was, fall conditions will be amazing! S1 and under noise floor 40 through 10 today during my POTA activation.
We're at the top of the cycle, so as long as we don't get a big CME that blows everything up, conditions are going to be great.
Another thing is that in the summer there are fewer hams active because they are busy doing yard work, house repairs and antenna repair.

10m band was wide open for me since 5 September. Worked Japan on Sept 6 - rather hard for me normally in Virginia.
I haven't even turned on the radio in months because I don't hear a thing.
20m has been good for a while now but at night!
9/8/24 17m was open all nite long even past 12 am Central time.
Recently worked JA 20W on 15m from my car with HF mobile whip. Was on high ground with good North take off.
G6DQY John
12 m is going good my last five contacts were all in Europe
10M seems to not have been very good, which is tough for a tech trying to activate. Hope it gets better soon!

Propagation stinks for GMRS here in Texas.
😂
Watch the Aurora prediction sites. If we get a strong aurora come in, that will energize the E Layer for strong UHF E-skip propagation.
DID HE SAY PROPAGANDA OR PROPAGATION 😂👋
😂
FT-8 doesn't count.
Why? It’s a mode like any other
Next he'll say that CW is pointless... 🤡
