Can you do a special that looks at the hunting habits of one of the lowest predator on the foodchain, then whatever hunts that, and so on until you get to some apex predator. Spider eats the beetle, what eats the spider, and what eats that which eats the spider, etc.....
Great concept! Meanwhile I'll set you up with our recent video about burying beetles -- they drag a mouse carcass underground, prep it and feed it to their offspring: ua-cam.com/video/5i_rRofGdWA/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
And here's our terrifying video about crows (which eat spiders): ua-cam.com/video/ixYVFZnNl6s/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Now we need a video about the cats that eat the birds. Here's our video about why cat tongues feel like sandpaper: ua-cam.com/video/9h_QtLol75I/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
And here are the fleas that live on the cats -- gotta keep going with this great concept! ua-cam.com/video/A5KvNcNz9aQ/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Enjoy!!
guess we're gonna get a coyote hunting a cat next 😵
@ Yikes.
2:53 that's the best take of this clip, as failures are usually ignored, thus not on screen. No one is perfect! Deep Look captures nature's drama.
I once got bit in the finger by an assassin bug as a kid, picked it up thinking it was just a funny beetle, probably the most painful thing I've ever felt, like an extreme burning sensation, lesson learned
Ouch!
Oof. That must have hurt pretty good...
I once got nailed by a boxelder bug. Its proboscis is generally for sucking sap out of tree leaves of the boxelder family, but that proboscis is stiff and sharp, and the bug regularly uses it as a defensive weapon. I had some of these bugs in my house a few years ago, during one of their boom years, and mostly left them alone, but I tried to pick this one up in a paper towel. That proboscis went right through two layers and got me in the finger.
But it was nothing like what your experience sounds like.
One of the best channels for nature content period!
Thank you! We're so glad you enjoy our videos!
omg that turret spider music is SOOO spooky!
Not sure of insects and bugs abilities to sense fear and pain, but i still gotta feel bad for the ones losing their lives being eaten alive. Pretty terrifying the way these hunters get them
Brutal.
🎶🎶 the circle of Life🎶🎶 is super brutal
Imagine being paralyzed by venom so you can't move, but can feel everything. Some giant spider sticks a soda straw into your abdomen and starts slurping it up.
@@pierrecurie The spider wasps are worse
Their brain structures are too simple to feel any of those.
"Dude don't get close to that hole"
*dude get's closer to the hole*
🪦
I love work-from-home spiders.
Thank you for bringing so much information in the form of entertainment. You guys are the best.
I love zoology, I follow everything with you.
We're so happy you like our videos, @BiólogoAnimador
I had just started watching the segment about wormlions, when an ad for Dune Awakening started playing
Terrifying video, but the narrator's tone is so gentle it kept me around for the whole vid.
Great content!!
I love her voice.
I love this documentary about these tiny predators. Before this I watched separate documentaries for these four creatures but your video combined all of them for me😅. Thanks
The narrator is excellent, elevating the video quality with their clear, captivating voice.
This made my day, especially the part on dragonfly larvae.
Been subscribed to yall since middleschool!! currently on my second year of college and still love your content :))
Amazing! We're so happy to hear that!
EXCELLENT music and sound editing for this one. Seriously, great job.
Thank you for the kind words! We love making these videos.
These tiny hunters may be small, but their skills are absolutely terrifying! 😱🕷 Nature never ceases to amaze. Incredible footage, Deep Look!
I love watching the hunting patterns of dragon and damselflies… so precise, quick and graceful
What gets me is how intelligent the animal kingdom is. Builds a turret. Enforces the inside. And decorates the outside with forest elements for camouflage. Just amazing.
Love the narration. Made me giggle a few times. I also found out of a few new things about wild life, which doesn't happen that often. My fav fact was about wormlions and that they fling the shells of their prey. So adorable.
The dragonfly section reminded me of Ze Frank's video on dragonflies.
one of my cats is curled up on my lap very attentively watching this video with me. ears perked up, head following the action, and purring vigorously. thank you for helping to educate my little orange dummy lol
My orange one doesn't care at all 😆.
SILLY CAR
Your videos are so amazing, thank you for the extraordinary work you’re putting into!
Every time i see spiders i get flash backs to when some friends and me went into this war bunker and the walls were covered in spiders, so many big ones crawling down the walls and ceiling 😫
Well that was terrifying 😅 great choice of music too, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time 🙆🏾♂️
The production quality on this is incredible. Subbed!
I've heard of an Antlion, but this is the first time I've heard of a Wormlion. Such a fascinating creature.
I don’t think people appreciate enough the effort that goes into making these incredibly addictive documentaries. The unique voice-over, the stunning background score-everything is so brilliantly crafted! Huge thumbs up to the team at Deep Look. Amazing work guys!
Alien vs Predator
The alien is the predator 👽😈
Mexican child vs. Catholic priest!
😨no, bugs scare me cause me alarm 😅
I hope that bug isn't suk'ing a caterpillar 😭
Nice compilation. I especially appreciate you give the correct scientific names for each creature--something lacking in many nature documentaries.
Thank you for the nightmares.
I'll be sure to cherish them tonight.
Lol.. I was just thinking to my self, who needs Alien vs predictor, when you can watch Deep Look. A minute later, you show a clip from Alien. That was sweet.
Hrrrrr this gave me chills, scarier than any horror movie 😅
Your killing me with these 15 minute long vids :D
Once again, absolutely stunning footage from the Deep Look camera crew (who should probably wave at the camera together in the outro so they can get some well-earned gratitude from us)!
Right when I was pondering about Deep Look, they come with a video!
Very interesting! 👍
I simply adore this channel
Turret spider is like: "Gotcha.. Oops.. Just a leaf". 🤣
The dramatic music is so funny, but I hadn't heard of turret spiders before...cool to know that somewhere in California there are a bunch of tiny damsels in towers (and possibly young males, too, I need to look this up now).
Deep Look Lady! I miss you!
*ladies
there's at least 3 different lady narrators in this compilation (i think)
Superb video. I love this stuff.👍
dragonfly and damselfly larvae mouths blew my freaking mind WOW
I had never heard of a wormlion before watching this clip, the antlion, yes, but not a wormlion. And I once lived in North California for about 16 years.
Imagine a 70 million yr old giant turret spider the size of a small cat.
Think more the size of an adult man's hand, but still spooky.
Normally they're quite small
That's pure nightmare fuel
How about no
Great channel.
Please do a video on the 3 most deadly spiders
-The Brazilian wondering spider, the funnel web and the 6 eyed spider
Feels like i’m watching a horror movie 😰
Love it 😍
another great show
Take a look at mosquito fish..? We have them all over Pennsylvania and ive always been fascinated by the little guppies
Fascinating! Thank you.
I loved this amazing video.. it's a Cool video to watch.
I don't think I've ever been this early before, love yall
I love the compilations please make moreeeeee
This 15 min video scared me more than all the horror movies I have ever watched combined 😳
Turret spiders & Trapdoor spiders are badass. Tanky beetles normally are too tough for most spiders.
You are good at video recording, I wish you well.❤🎉
The way the camera man puts the bait bugs at the spiders 💀
🔥🔥🔥🔥 Love your content
9:42
This caught me so off guard. Had to rewatch it three times to hear "midge" properly
The Tarweed part was crazy!
Deep Look: *looks deep
Me: I DON’T WANNA LOOK INSIDE THE BURROW!!!
1:58
(13:40) *"The nymph has a killer lip, called a labium."* - That attack is straight out of a sci-fi horror movie! Who knew dragonfly babies were such lethal hunters? 😳🔥
Great video! 👌
Amazing how diffrent wormlion looks, but how similar strategy has to antlion's.
Thank you ❤
That turret spider really looks like an Aussie funnel web.
Good Narrator 😮
2:02 even the camera wanted to backout 😅
The assassin big part had me lmao
Great narration.
We're glad you enjoyed it!
This is the monster teamup movie we really need.
Fascinating.
Glad you enjoy our videos!
@ never ceases to amaze me!! Learning something new everyday!
I really don't know about dragon flies has such badass names like *Flame skimmer* 🔥, *Blue dasher* 🌀
Hello friend I love insects I love all the animals on our planet.❤🎉
I just want to shout out Laura Klivans for her amazing narration as always!
Laura does a fabulous job. In this video you'll also hear our previous host Lauren Sommer on the turret spider, wormlion and dragonfly episodes.
Good stuff!
The little Turret Spider towers look very similar to the fairy chimneys made by 'lawn prawns' (Burrowing Crayfish species) down in Tassie where I grew up. They dig little holes into soil near rivers and valley floors where water can pool at the bottom and keep them moist through the day, and that removed soil is towered up like that Turret Spider's little house. There are numerous species with often extremely small ranges which makes them vulnerable to extinction as an entire species might live in just one rainforest valley.
The Turret Spiders look very similar to the Sydney Funnel Web Spider that we have in Australia.
can we get more behind the scenes i saw some old videos but would love to see that again
Small but mighty in size!
BTW the killer lip for the dragon fly larva is also called a mask
Transformation of buccal structure (for prey catching) in dragonfly nimph looks mysterious, but actually, in an insect world it might not be so surprising. For instance, an adult butterfly can't munch leaves, to name a few.
0:34 amazing shot
This torret guy is ingenious & meticulous when it comes to construct his house & a hunting lodge! Personally, I prefer a spider hiding behind a flap door (don't know what's it called) with the same tactics, sensing vibration, catch a prey in lightning speed. Never forget closing the door.
Love the turret spider!
A minute twenty in and I had to pause to let the horror quell.
Never heard of the Wormlion, however the Antlion hunts in the same way but it's way creepier! I was lucky to find these on our property and got a bunch of videos of one pulling ants into its sand pit. I wonder if Antlion is a better hunter since the Wormlion took many attempts to get the pray into its pit. The one I observed captured an ant in its first attempt.
Think I just discovered my favorite spider! 😍
Turret spiders are amazing. But there are so many arachnids to choose from! Here's a playlist of our videos about jumping spiders, black widows, tarantulas and more: ua-cam.com/play/PLdKlciEDdCQAVNuJev4cXFHJfw7BD51dI.html
Turret spiders. When the princess in the tower is also the monster.
The face at 2:19, wouldn't wanna meet that guy in a dark alley.
wow, together with this soundtrack that looks like a horror movie, indeed =))
Wow the wormlion works similar to the Antlion
Can you do a video for lighting bugs
That wormlion is like a tiny Shai-Hulud from Dune. Lol
@KQEDDeepLook Do you do requests was wondering if you could review the Brazilian Tree hoper?
I appreciate the fact you're not using terrarium. Yes it takes a LONG time to get the shots and lots of luck and patience but the end result is 100% authentic. The terrarium feels "forced and cheated" on the animals.
Hi! We try to film animals in nature whenever we can. We filmed the assassin bugs and turret spiders in nature. The wormlions we filmed in a naturalist's home, where she keeps them in small containers. The dragonfly nymphs we collected in the backyard pond of a pair of naturalists. Then we filmed them in an aquarium so that we could get our lenses very close to them and show you how they use their killer mouthparts.
Some of the shots are wild but some are probably captive
There's no disrespect in using captivity in small animal filming as long as they exhibit natural behavior
Tarweed is basically your average bootleg product equivalent of Sundew, lol. Also, I've heard about a Liana species from Africa which also uses these similar sticky traps to feed on bugs. It's called Triphyophyllum.
Ideas for Grounded 2 ^_^
Never saw wormlions before.
Weird I've never seen or even heard of a worm lion, can't even see how it eats its prey, here in Australia we grew up with ant lions and they have big spiky jaws which you can often see just sticking out of their pit and out side of the pit it looks like a big jawed tick or something.
