Necrotic Nick and Jammin' Jon go over the latest offering from deathcore veterans Suicide Silence with their new album "Remember... You Must Die!" out now!
thrallsofmetal...
denverdeathfes...
And now this happens; aww man. Longtime ARTILLERY drummer Josua Madsen, who played on the band's last four albums, has died at the age of 45. Rest In Peace. 😔
I saw. That poor guy got hit by a bus!
Shame
@@robertsparling917 super fucked!
RIP to both of them.
This is sad.
I have to say this is one of the heaviest albums they've ever made. Sheer brutality all the way through. 🤘🏻
Necrotic Nick- They've always been heavy as hell but this is catchier and the riffs really jump out this time honestly. This definitely has some more death metal dynamics to the songwriting but they still have all the deathcore breakdowns you'd expect from them. This might be the best thing I've heard from them.
Sad news tonight; Jim Durkin passed away. He was a guitarist and one cofounders of Dark Angel. 😔
Holy shit. What?? Fuck
Heard on Twitter
I saw Suicide Silence in 2014 at the Mayhem Festival in Auburn, Washington! There were on one of the outside stages at White River Amphitheatre after Miss May I! This was around the time that they released You Can't Stop Me, which was their first with Eddie Hermida on vocals.
R.I.P. Mitch Lucker, the original vocalist who was on the first three albums. He unfortunately perished in a motorcycle accident in 2012.
Necrotic Nick- What did you think of this album?
@@thrallsofmetal I listened to most of the album except for "Be Deceived" because I couldn't find that song on UA-cam.
All seconds wound but the last one KILLS. Fucking felt that! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Necrotic Nick- Full Void might be the best song they've ever written in my opinion.
Glad to see these guys go back to their brutal roots! The Cleansing is a very important album to me as far as introducing me to different kinds of extreme music and is all around just a heavy ass album. I haven't heard the album yet but the singles to me kicked ass and I love old Suicide Silence and bludgeoning death metal riffs so I definitely have to check it out. RIP Mitch
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, this definitely has echoes of their earlier material but I think the songwriting is much better on here. There's some really killer riff work on this album and honestly the singles I thought were some of the weaker songs. This album is packed with killer deep cuts.
Such a fun album! Wasn't expecting anything from this, but man, there's so many bangers in this that it made my day! ... And probably tomorrow too! 😂🤘❤️
Necrotic Nick- Honestly, my expectations were exceedingly low on this one but this was a legit banger for the most part. Some of the best riff work I've heard from them so far. I might just have to order this one.
Good to hear!
Necrotic Nick- I mean, it legit bangs.
No disrespect to Suicide Silence , but the last track “Full Void” was the only song that really captivated me. Great closer, just wish the other songs were this vile and creative with its musicianship.
I haven’t listened to Deathcore since 2007. But the band Mental Cruelty from Germany has impressed me and gave me the energy to re-examine the genre. I HIGHLY recommend their 2021 record “A Hill to Die Upon” if you want to surface more quality Deathcore that still exists out there!
Necrotic Nick- I do think Full Void is probably the most dynamic song on the album but I really enjoyed God Be Damned and Endless Dark a lot as well. I would love to hear more like that in the future but honestly even the more primal stuff on here was pretty solid. I've only checked out Mental Cruelty's most recent single with the new singer and it sounded way too similar to Lorna Shore which I'm not a fan of. I might check out the earlier stuff though.
I'm closed minded toward deathcore. Props to you for being open and fair minded.
Necrotic Nick- I used to really love it then I feel like I just outgrew it. Honestly though, this was pretty sick and had a lot death metal elements to it that I dug and at least reminded me more of late 2000's deathcore over a lot of the more modern stuff coming out now.
This was also my first full Suicide Silence listen, much better than expected 🤘
Necrotic Nick- It had been years since I jammed a Suicide Silence album and this was pretty damn good.
I guess I’ll give this a listen.
Necrotic Nick- Even if you're put off by deathcore I think this one is worth checking out. This is honestly some of their best riff work ever.
This will shock you i hate this album
I hated the last two albums!
Necrotic Nick- I'm more shocked that I liked it.
Personally this album interests me a lot less than their first 3, just feels a lot more generic and meh. It isn’t bad but I don’t plan on listening to it again 😅
Necrotic Nick- I mean, to each their own. I haven't felt strongly about many of their albums. While they've pretty much always been heavy I never thought their music was particularly interesting. This was the first one where I thought there was some really focus on songwriting and making the songs stand out a bit more. That's just me though.
You guys where going to dump on it and it was going to go i the Fucking trash segment then you were like I can’t do it I just listened to the first song and it was good
Necrotic Nick- Correct
A lot of Unga bunga
Necrotic Nick- Some serious, knuckle-dragging riffage on this album for sure lol
Glad to see them get back to their roots.. Most modern deathcore is to polished and computerized sounding..This brings back the deathcore sound I really like. Glad to see they're back on the right trajectory. Plus, their best album artwork they've ever put out.
Nick, if you're looking a for a solid af deathcore album, check out Fit for an Autopsy's last album, "Oh What the Future Holds". I'm actually seeing them in Detroit tonight. The album jams, has a lot of tribal influence in the instrumentation (particularly the drums), and it made me a fan of them. Great review as always!
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Actually, I reviewed that one and own it. It's a pretty solid album and I have to admit Far From Heaven is an absolutely infectious song.
@@thrallsofmetal hell yeah! They played that song last night and the pit went NUTS. Those guys are sick and the vocalist has some serious pipes on him!
Suicide silence for better or worse are a tremendous influential band ,I personally don’t like them even when Mitch (rip) was alive
Well you guys sold me on it. Definitely gotta check this record out then
Necrotic Nick- Generally deathcore puts me off (well, most of the modern stuff) but this was really solid.
The highlight of this video was you dudes shirts…👿🧟
Sounds cool have to take a listen =)
Necrotic Nick- 100% worth checking out, bro.
I jammed this twice yesterday. Once at work and once on a hike. When I heard it at work I was like "Ok. Damn. They really sound great. This is instantly one of the better records they've ever done." Wish they hadn't put out so many singles before the drop. Second time I heard it I knew I wasn't trippin lol. It's a solid album.
Necrotic Nick- I jammed it again the other day honestly and I'm kinda shocked I like it as much as I do. I think it has a lot to do with it sounding like earlier deathcore from the late 2000's than a lot of the more overproduced modern deathcore and the fact that the riff work is some of their strongest. Honestly, the singles for the most part were weaker tracks so at least they didn't make the singles the best songs on the album.
Might be a hot take but to me this is their best album since The Cleansing
Necrotic Nick- Honestly, I like this one more than The Cleansing. I thought their debut was good but it got outshined by their contemporaries in terms of songwriting. This one is more dynamic and didn't sacrifice any of the brutality. Well done.
Another band could never get into. I’ll check er out doh
Necrotic Nick- I've always been more on the fence about this band but this legit bangs. I was kinda shocked.
Love this review. Very well articulated. You can tell you guys actually care about the MUSIC!
Awesome vid as usual Thrall boys! Love how in-depth y'all go with each band you cover. Now....release the would you rather video!!!!!!!!
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! We do our best. The would you rather video is coming but it's still in the editing process. It ended up being a longer video than we anticipated.
Sick record! Best since The Black Crown IMO. RIP Mitch
Necrotic Nick- Been awhile since I jammed The Black Crown but I definitely say this is a solid album from them for sure.
I would definitely check out Become The Hunter. It's in a similar vein to this album in my opinion.
Necrotic Nick- I might actually do that at some point. I'm kinda curious now.
I bought the debut album and that was it. I never got into them. I was into All Shall Perish for the first 2 albums. I know a lot of ppl love this band and loved Mitch tho. RIP Mitch
Necrotic Nick- Same here. I still have The Cleansing and I thought it was OK but I was more into Job for a Cowboy, Whitechapel honestly All Shall Perish as well at the time. I just thought The Cleansing was heavy but that was about it. This album though is pretty slick and honestly has some of their strongest songwriting I've heard.
@@thrallsofmetal i still love Whitechapel. Their my fav Deathcore band I guess.
I’ll have to check this one out! I own the albums No Time To Bleed and The Black Crown, which I think were pretty good!
Necrotic Nick- I legit think this might be their strongest album.
Even if you don’t like Suicide Silence, I recommend checking out Garza Podcast (the guitarist) interview series. He got more out of Glen Benton than anyone has in an interview hahah
Necrotic Nick- Dude, I legit checked out that interview when it dropped and holy shit was it awesome. It's just strange seeing Glen be so personable here lately since he's had this rep as the "grumpy old man of death metal" but he's got a lot of cool insights about the industry for sure. Chris seems like a solid dude too and I like the format of his podcast too. Honestly, Suicide Silence got a lot of brownie points this year for both this album and the podcast lol.
Suicide Silence is the band that solidified my taste in extreme metal so they always have a soft spot in my heart. The Cleansing will always be my favourite record from them. RIP Mitch... PS Good to see the blokes of Thralls of Metal to go outside their normal reviews 🤘🏾
Necrotic Nick- I get it, man. There's bands that regardless of their missteps (I'm looking at you Morbid Angel!) I still carry a torch for because they were such a huge part of me getting into certain kinds of metal. We occasionally cover deathcore on here but I'll admit most modern deathcore has been really off-putting here lately. Still, I'm willing to give it a shot though.
Seeing them for the 3rd time on the chaos and carnage tour. Very hyped
Necrotic Nick- I think I'll be on vacation for that one. I really wanted to see Dying Fetus on that tour too.
Man all the deathcore kids on the internet were not ready for that grimy crushing taylor young production and it shows 😂😂😂 i do agree tho that the bass could have been more prominent but if more deathcore had this kind of guitar and drum sound with actual balls to it and more classic death metal nods Id probably be willing to give the genre a bit more of a chance
Necrotic Nick- With all the overproduced "laptop-core" out there right now in deathcore this album's production was a breath of fresh air. This actually sounds like a band rather than a dubstep band with chugs and breakdowns. The guitar tone on here is snarling and vicious as hell and actually sounds like what you're going to get live. If more deathcore sounded like this I'd definitely be more of a fan of it.
@@thrallsofmetal 100 hundred percent facts now maybe its an apples to oranges cpmparison but regardless a big part of deathcores sound comes from death metal anyway and yet usually it doesnt have that grime and grossness thats integral to death metal which is why it often doesnt hit as hard for me
Said before that I like my deathcore, but modern stuff or newer bands I've not kinda into the intros/samples/atmosphere and whatever.. this a cool record. Never been a huge fan- stuff I like by them, but this is a good, no fuckery heavy riff LP... Some of these riffs are totally fucking banging.
Necrotic Nick- Right there with you. I still have a soft spot for older deathcore but so much of the modern deathcore is so overproduced and seems more driven by laptops than it is by musicianship. These guys brought the riffs and stripped down the production and it legit worked.
@@thrallsofmetal I totally started off enjoying the likes of Distant, Angelmaker and To The Grave.. still like a bit of TTG, but the dive into the high pitched widdling noises and over produced tracks is bugging me. It's like, I love old Hip Hop, the beats and loops, samples and percussion. Production was clear and raw, sounded fucking mazing.. just the drums driving the song.. but Deathcore has taken, or at least a ton of bands have taken, that same Hip Hop route of modern times.. over produced songs, so dense in sound and samples, manipulated sounds and vocals.. it's a total thing now in Deathcore. All sounds the same with a lot of bands.. same song structure and identical digital production values.. gets on ma tits! I listen to a lot of stuff and make compilations on Spotify- all extreme metal for the most part, Death, Deathcore, Slam, Grindcore, Black Metal, Doom and Heavy dark sludge.. And there are a ton of bands now that all sound the same.. could not tell them apart at all if played back to back to be honest. Hearing this record was really cool as I was totally apprehensive of it being any different.. but amazed that they've gone for a more analogue sound and approach. It's reminded me how much I loved Deathcore at it's best, Job for A Cowboy, Thy Art Is Murder will always be some of if not total favourite bands out there. This record just proves that if stripped back to basics, Deathcore totally fucking slams.. and the riffs on here are just really fucking great. A solid 3 and a half but a total 4 skulls and extra half point for bucking the trend and bringing out a rager of a record.
Getting on anything motorized with 2 wheels is the real suicide these days. Mitch reminds me why I never want to get on a bike ever again. RIP my man
I can’t believe it’s been 10 years? That’s insane
Necrotic Nick- I've known too many people that have been seriously injured on bikes so that keeps me off of them. Hell, it's dangerous enough being in a car sometimes. RIP Mitch.
Remember… You Must Hate This!
I guess not? 😂
Necrotic Nick- I legit couldn't lol. Dudes made a solid album.
@@thrallsofmetal Since you liked their new album I suggest give their last album become the hunter a chance. I’m kinda surprised people are saying this new one is a return to form because that’s how I felt about the last album lol
