Have you had any issues with the g80 picking up readings on range balls? I just got mine and took it to the range, . It only picked up about 1 in 3 shots. Not good for the money. Any advice?
Mine works pretty decent with range balls. It sometimes misses a drive but nothing in the range as what you are describing. Have you tried placing the ball at different distances from the G80? Do you place a ball underneath the G80?
@@bngolf6999 Thanks for the reply. I have placed a ball under the G80 and I have tried laying it flat. I put the ball about 1 foot away from the device. I have tried lining it up perfectly even with the G80, slightly in front, and a little more in front. It was very frustrating.
@@SteveUhlenbrock I can believe that's frustrating ... the only thing I can think of is maybe something with light? But I'm sure you have tried it during the day and at night so that shouldn't be a factor? Have you tried contacting someone from Garmin? Maybe they have experience with the problem?
@@bngolf6999 I'm going to try it again today. See what happens. I'm also getting a hitting net. I'll see what happens when I hit from home with regular golf balls before I contact garmin.
Nice review. I have been thinking of getting this device for the last few days, but the steep price makes it difficult to make the final decision. Your review does however convince me enough to probably just go for it ☺️
Hi, thanks for the comment! Yeah, I have been doubting because of the steep price as well, but it sure is worth it! Not only for the on course gps, but very much for the training aid and getting a decent ideo of your distances. If you buy it, I hope it brings the same joy to you as it does for me 😁🤞
Hi Carl, I'm not aware of any calibration, but you can adjust your roll factor a bit. To suit your general ball flight, for example I generally play really high shots, so I have my roll factor set to the minimum. For me this gives pretty accurate distances (even some backspin with wedges). I also found that with the longer clubs, placing the ball a little bit behind the middle of the lasers gives more accurate distances. Maybe that's something you can play around with.
In addition to my previous answer, the G80 doesn't factor in weather conditions, so if you generally play in very dry and warm weather, the device will probably end up giving shorter distances than what you are used to.

@@SteveUhlenbrock Good luck, I hope it works! Oh I wish I had room for a hitting net too! Practicing at home is awesome!
Great review. Thank you!
Do you have any experience with the Garmin G80? If so, what do you think about it? If not, would you consider buying one?
Thank you for the review. Great swing by the way. Ordered one and should be here in a couple of days. Thanks again!
Thanks! Glad you find it helpful and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Great job ..good video
Thanks!
I have one, but the distance i get are like 20-30 meter less than what I hit in reality. Is there a calibration that I need to do?

@@bngolf6999 Nope, its cold and wet. And short.
