I remember going to aircrew school in the Navy down at Pensacola. We got a free Blue Angels show every Wednesday. They're based at the air station there.
This was video of a practice day. That's why sometimes the smoke stops. The pilots turn the smoke off if they notice themselves get slightly out of position. Then turn it back on when they get back in the correct spot. That way when reviewing the video of the practice they can more easily see when they did something wrong. They ARE amazing to watch.
From the tip of the wing to the other plane's canopy (the glass over the pilot) is, on perfect flights, 46cm. Their regular jobs (Carrier Take-offs & Landings) are demanding. Landings consist of 1) finding what looks like a postage stamp on the floor from 2m away on an ocean that looks exactly the same to the horizon everywhere you look. 2) because the landing area is at an angle to the ships direction, you must constantly adjust. 3) you are in an aircraft weighing 13,000kg, traveling at 240kph, and 4) With that aircraft, wheel-to-steel (touchdown) must be in an area the size of half of a football pitch (50m x 40m). The US Navy does not refer to its men and women as "pilots". They are "United States Naval Aviators", anyone can be a pilot.
Exactly, "pilots" are like your Mavericks, people that should have their wings stripped. "Aviators" are people like the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds.
I really enjoyed watching these men! I was born and raised in San Diego, I saw many Blue Angel shows at the Miramar air base, I still remember the sound of those planes. Gave me goose bumps! 😍😇

the big plane is a C-130 Hercules and is nicknamed "fat albert" by the angles, it goes to all their air shows and carries most of their spare equipment for them. It is the last aircraft in the C-130 line of planes to use the JATO launch system, which straps 6 rockets to its back so the massive plane could take off from smaller runways and they used it in one of their shows for more pizzazz ;)
My ex flew P3 Orion and C-130 Hercules while in the navy. My son lives in Orange Beach, Alabama close to Pensacola. They see a show or practice often! When the Blue Angels return from a show, they will let red, white and blue smoke out over the beach.
I love seeing the awe on their faces! It reminds me of watching the Blue Angels as a kid, I was so amazed what those people could do, and the science that makes it possible. Even watching them perform as an adult still brings me great joy, it’s truly incredible.
My parents are Navy Veterans and growing up, they took us to the air show every year…it’s so awesome to see them up close and watch all the stunts they perform. So happy these wonderful men watched a video on The Blue Angels ! God Bless Y’all!! ❤️ from Texas
Someone needs to take these men to an airshow, then get reactions, besides the U.S. Navy Blue Angels there is the U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds and the Canadian AF Snowbirds, I have seen all three in person and they are all unique and fun to watch.
A few facts: the Blue Angels formed in 1946 when they saw the French “les Bleus”, this is the world’s first aerial demonstration team. Blue Angels are the second. The team thought it would be a very good idea to have its own. Thus, “The Navy Aerial Flight Demonstration Team” was born. It soon became very popular. However, in July 1946, the team got its official name of Blue Angels after one of the pilot read the same name nightclub in New York and decided the name is absolutely a perfect fit with the team since their planes have always wore a coat of “Dark Sea Blue” paint. 2. The “Blues” and the Air Force Thunderbirds fly some of the closest formations in air shows, only as far apart as 2ft or 0.5 meters! So close that one time, a pilot scratched his nose and was surrounded by his fellow pilots once they landed cause everyone saw it! 3. Blues are also the only flight demo team to not wear any G-suits since it’s feared that the suits, when inflated? Might jostle there pilots stick hand, which rest on their legs. This may tip their hand and thus the stick, cause a crash that will kill them. Currently, they fly the Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet. Team consists of 5 naval pilot and 1 Marine. Pilots all have at least 2,000 flight hours and are super experienced. Although they have six planes, all single seat, the team do have at least a two seat F/A-18F to take civilians or dignitaries up for an experience flight if the order comes in!
Fascinating! Thanks for this info . I was blessed to go for an incentive ride in a T-38 at Holloman AFB ( back in the day ) I thought I was in pretty good shape until the next day 😳 . My flight suit was a bit big . I have so much respect for the men that fly . The USAF was truly a great gig .
They have 12 F-18's in total....1-6 are the show birds and 7-8 are two seaters used for demo's and back ups while at the shows (They have in the past had an issue with one of the show birds during a show and had to land quickly and jump into the spare). Out of the other 4...1-2 are painted the show colors, and two not painted. They normally bring 7-8 birds on the road, unless if the show is overseas (Europe, Asia, etc) or Alaska where they bring most of them. They use the C130J (Fat Albert) for transport of the equipment and crew, on longer shows they may bring a reg cargo plane for added crew and equipment. Fat Albert also does flight demo's, along with picking up added equipment if needed. After the 2020 season, they upgraded to the SuperHornet (bigger, heavier, more powerful and updated).
These men share our enthusiasm for such displays of great talents. Thanks for sharing your views. I enjoyed it as well and have seen the Blue Angles in person three times.
Seeing these men and women fly is a treat. I got to see them in 2012 in my home town of Baltimore. Then I moved to Pensacola Florida, the home of the Blue Angels. Hear I was able to see their show at their home base the NAS. The sight and sounds are so different when you are on the tarmac, Amazing.
I've taken it for granted as I've been blessed to see them year after year in Brunswick, Maine. USA at the explain shows... from a child to an adult... So glad you enjoyed the... they fly with in inched of each other... been doing this for many years.
I was fortunate enough to see the Blue Angels when I was a child. My parents took me to an air show. It was absolutely amazing, and very loud, indeed. I will never forget it. You do get to see more detail in a video, but the live experience is more sensory, to be sure.
LOL. You think seeing this is cool? Try being on a Carrier coming home from a deployment and watching some of the stuff they do out in open ocean. I worked on the Avionics on the F-14 for 11 years and loved seeing them perform with no restraints.
Before Covid the Blue Angels perform every year in Seattle during the HYDROPLANE ( fast boats ) races for 3 days. They show up 2 days early to practice because they are flying over a lake with lots of boats. The airfield is next to the freeway and they travel with 7 jets and a C130 cargo plane called Big Bertha. Their are better videos of the Angels but their is also the Thunderbirds and other nations have their own performing.
The C-130 is called "Fat Albert" and carries their maintanence gear and ground crew. It is a U.S. Marine aircraft and performs a ticket assisted takeoff at the beginning of the blue Angels demonstration.
The sad part is 27 of these pilots have died while flying since the air shows started in 1946. The most recent being in 2016 in my home state during a mid-air collision.
I still remember some years back when something went wrong and we lost some of these amazing performers in a deadly accident. Even when trained these stunts are risky because the air can be sucked out of the engines at any time. They are indeed talented flyers!
The entire Thunderbird team i think all died during a practice run when i was little, followed the lead plane right into the ground. I was air force brat so got to see an air show pretty much yearly the entire time my dad served. Over 14 years of my life lol
These airshows are always a risk. Back in 1988 (I believe), there was a major accident in Ramstein, Germany, which killed 3 pilots and some 70 spectators hit by burning airplane parts. You can find footage of the accident on youtube if you look for it, though it's not for the light-hearted. I had been attending the airshows in the previous years myself and was lucky to have missed out the one where this accident happened. A lot has happened since. Most notably, the airshows now take place at a considerable distance to the spectators, and ideally above water.
I had the thrill and good fortune to have had a delivery route in Dayton Ohio for the 100th Anniversary of the airplane. And for three days in a row, just as I was passing the airport, at the same time. I got to experience the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds together in tandem. I could hear them coming up behind me on I 75, and then they'd pass low directly overhead . I mean REALLY low. It was such a rush!! I can't think.of anything more thrilling than those jet fighters.
Most of childhood was at Centerville Oh! Some of my favorite memories was watching the Blues and T-Birds at The Dayton Air and Trade Show held annually at WPAB.
Wish the video shown had a clip of the Blue Angels flying so close to the ground over their live audience. Amazing thrill for spectators to see them so close. Awesome pilots.
I loved going to the air shows as a kid every year at CNE in Toronto but at one point there were back to back accidents until they stopped doing them altogether. Luckily I've never witnessed it in person. We'd either get there late or the other times we didn't go those years. Watching this brought back memories and it's such an amazing thing to watch air acrobatics but it still scares me that the slightest miscalculation can mean someones life. I'm glad the men enjoyed it🤗
Love this one! I have seen the Blue Angels perform several times. They usually come every year or so to a US Naval Base near my home. It's so amazing to watch and it is LOUD. I have videos of them somewhere.
The guys have such camradery and fun with on target comments! I have been to several Blue Angels air shows in San Diego and it takes your breath away! The sound, the flying stunts and the high speed crossing maneuvers. Amazing!
The blue angels are masters of the sky. The very fact that the slightest mistake could get them killed shows their insane control. They made flying a plane an art form.
I used to live near a Naval Air Base. The Blue Angels do a show their every summer. They would show up for practice about a week ahead of the show, and would fly over my house while practicing. It's soooo loud, and you can hear them coming, but by the time you see them, they're gone!
They're not tribal people cause they speak Hindi which spoken by majority which is moderate Nd yeah there is so many tribal people in India who don't know this things exist but these people faking cause theyre aren't speaking tribal language and they're from rajesthan which board with Pakistan Nd it's the land where nuclear bom test the smiling Buddha most air base of India is located there and as well as these aren't wearing tribal clothes !
27 Blue Angels have died in Air Shows or training for one. That's somewhere around 10% of all the people who have flown in that group. It's incredibly dangerous, even for the best of the best. They keep pushing the edge though because that's what fighter pilots do, train for war.
The blue angels was overhead in my work delivery area a couple days ago, there were people out on their porches watching. I was driving around hooting and saying “WOOO SOUNDS LIKE AMERICA OUTSIDE TODAY!”
Every Year the Cleveland Air Show happens Labor Day weekend, the Blue Angels perform one year, and the Thunderbirds the next. It's every other year and they are gorgeous in person.
Oh my God - I can never get enough of these guys! Please see if you can find a way to get them to an actual air show. They sound of these jets is 90% of the show. You need to see it in person! Anyway keep up the great videos! My regards to the 3 of them.
I've had the honor and pleasure of seeing the Blue Angels a few times in person. Watching them fly right overhead. To think that just a few centimeters is the difference between mind bending incredible aerobatic maneuvers and a national tragedy. You don't just have to be supremely talented and physically capable of handling the repeated G-forces, but you have to have an iron will and balls of steel! I hope you gentleman get to witness something like this in person because even online, it's impressive and enjoyable to me.
Not Army Men...NAVY men. These are US Navy pilots (occasional a US Marine), which means they can do the ultimate stunt...land on a postage stamp in the middle of the ocean.
I used to live next to an airport that would host air shows and the Blue Angels were featured multiple years. There's nothing like having 6 F/A-18 Hornets flying right over your house for 4 days at a time, so low that it felt like I could touch them while standing on my roof. I remember the window-rattling sound and the smell of the exhaust were oddly satisfying.
The first time they came to San Francisco they buzzed the city the day before the show, on their first practice. We were working downtown, and one of them came flying right by our windows, upside down. Another one flew underneath the Bay Bridge, lol. I think they got in trout ale for that, but it was so cool! I was up on a hill next to the Golden Gate bridge watching the show, and one came flying right over our heads, fast. The noise was ear splitting. Love this guys.
It is amazing what they do. I did not actually realize how fantastic these airplane stunts are until now, because I could never stand the sound when they were near. Love to all!
I saw one of these shows in person. As a kid my grandfather would take us to his fly-ins. Planes from all over would "fly in" and meet at an airfield for a weekend of air shows. Very cool.
To see the Blue Angel's live is a beautiful sight, these pilots go through years of training, my husband is a retired US Navy pilot, he was a top gun, flying F 18's super hornets and A1 corsairs, I'm extremely lucky and proud of him, my kids and I were lucky, he came home after every mission, many did not.
I have seen a few airshows. I recall seeing the blue angles a few times at Miramar in the mid-late nineties as a teen. We lived near the base so I could watch many of the shows from my backyard. On one occasion I was on one of those older cordless phones with the antennae on it talking to my friend while watching the show. It must have been using a similar frequency as the pilots because we could hear the lead pilot talking, calling out the timing for various maneuvers. Took a moment to realize where the extra voice was coming from. A few years earlier, I had the chance to go to the airshow with VIP tickets (friends dad owned a car dealership and supplied the tickets), and we were seated along the runway with the pilots. Was a cool experience, and I remember it fondly. I still have the autographs tucked away.
Not sure if they reacted to old WWII planes during air show events. Let them see some history with the famous P-51 Mustang, Supermarine Spitfire, Curtiss P-40, P-38 Lightning, and others. The P51 though, sounds so amazing.
This is my favorite and would have loved a part B included as the lenses used to capture this are telephoto and makes them appear closer then they actually are. But if you see them flying with helmut cams, they are a bit further apart, but not by much. And they bop around by four or five feet which makes what the percision flight teams do, all that more amazing.
They should definitely see the videos of the Blue Angels flying in formations from cockpit camera views. Than they can truly see how close they're flying together.
Seeing through video is ok but being there omg so fun. Ive been to blue angels air shows 2 times in my life. Once when i was 5 and then 16. The one when I was five I just remembered the cool planes. But being older the second time was more of an experience because the feel of the rumble of the jets in your body, the smell of jet fuel in the airbthe pressure wave as they fly by at almost mach speed oh it such an experience. Plus I not only saw blue angels but other exhibitions as well. Marine apache helicopter maneuvers I got to see many planes up close and touch I've loved over the years. One of my favorite planes was the f4 phantom and f14 tomcat. It's so different when you can walk around one and touch it. Then knowing after the air show it will fly away because it's actually a vehicle in service and not a museum piece.it's truly a fun time.
I was lucky to grow up in an area where there was always at least one air show a year. The Blue Angels are always the top act! I can't remember which group it is, (it could be the Thunderbirds) but they do a big "surprise" that never fails to get you, even when you know it's coming!
Every year, the Blue Angels visit the Bay Area and they fly over my apartment building when orienting themselves to San Francisco. The noise is amazing but very exciting to see such skills and precision.

@@StryderK They still use the JATO in the shows, last I saw at least
should have given them the view from inside the cockpit to really get a feel for how close they actually are.
I ,knew that our friends would be very vocal while watching THE BLUE ANGELS
I didn't know that about the flight suits. Makes perfect sense
@@andrewj9831 very cool Andrew ! Thanks for the info 🇺🇸😎
I have seen the Blue Angels preform many times and never get tired of seeing them fly.
These men share our enthusiasm for such displays of great talents. Thanks for sharing your views. I enjoyed it as well and have seen the Blue Angles in person three times.
Very nice to share this with these people. Something they will never forget.
The men show respect to the elder who does most of the talking.
they should even show them the Red arrows
or the real World's Best USAF Thunderbirds.
Loved watching the blue angels come to TAFB really amazing especially their ground stunts
@@kdrapertrucker I knew the name had a Fat person I guess Bertha was in a song maybe one on the Butt sister's.
My dad flew the F 18 in the marines, so I grew up loving the Blue Angels. I'm glad they were able to react to it.
I just love these guys😍 may they live long, healthy and happy and close to each other always
Can you imagine having this guys in your house all the excitement when watching tv and something new to talk about everytime that will be awesome
@@jeffhall2411 That might be what I'm remembering. It all starts to fade together after so many memories and time.
I hope the Blue Angels get to see this video. That song was beautiful.
EVERY SINGLE TIME I watch them, I am filled with SO MUCH PRIDE!!!! WHAT PRECISION!!!!
Wish the video shown had a clip of the Blue Angels flying so close to the ground over their live audience. Amazing thrill for spectators to see them so close. Awesome pilots.
I have attended numerous shows, the sounds and skill are amazing. They bring great pride 😊👏👏
I served in the Navy for 8 years. I got to watch them practice many times. They are awesome!
1:30 "They show aromatic shows"? So the Blue Angels do crop dusting?
Wonderful people showing appreciation for the display. ❤️❤️❤️
Long live love indeed.
These men are great, so eager to learn new things and have a strong sense of wonder.
I grew up between two airbase in Pennsylvania. The Blue Angels flew over my house every year. What a show!
Red Arrows are the UK's version of the Blue Angels :)
And Canada has the snowbirds!
@@DeusSalis snowflakes* ;D
Should let them watch the Royal Air Force "Red Arrows" display team.
Hello gentlemen, I've seen dozens of the Blue Angel's air shows. They always blow your minds!
I used to live near a Naval Air Base. The Blue Angels do a show their every summer. They would show up for practice about a week ahead of the show, and would fly over my house while practicing. It's soooo loud, and you can hear them coming, but by the time you see them, they're gone!
To see them fly over Orange Beach, Alabama will bring tears to your eyes. Love seeing them buzz the beach 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I just love these guys. They are so amazing!!
Aww, man...I need to watch more airshow videos. I had as much fun as they did!
Not Army Men...NAVY men. These are US Navy pilots (occasional a US Marine), which means they can do the ultimate stunt...land on a postage stamp in the middle of the ocean.
This is the one I was looking for in all the comments!
Saw them at ab air show and it was mind boggling. I enjoyed watching this you guys! I loved your comments. Be safe and take care!
I love the old guy on this panel - I bet he has a great sense of humour.
These men are fabulous and are very astute!
Yes.. this was what I asked to react to i was amazed when I saw them as a kid I went to many airshows
These guys are awesome. So funny to see their reactions!
I saw the Blue Angels at a Naval Air Show when I was a teenager. It was an amazing experience.
Not sure if they reacted to old WWII planes during air show events. Let them see some history with the famous P-51 Mustang, Supermarine Spitfire, Curtiss P-40, P-38 Lightning, and others. The P51 though, sounds so amazing.
At luke Days here in Arizona one year they had f-15s flying formation with P51 mustang.. it was awesome
Show them the UK RAF Red Arrows
I can't remember which group it is, (it could be the Thunderbirds) but they do a big "surprise" that never fails to get you, even when you know it's coming!
i know exactly what this surprise is, it always makes me jump
Thank you gentlemen be blessed always
I absolutely love these guys and all their reactions! 😜👍🏼
Gotta love their honest reactions
Their whistling adds to the excitement😊
They used to fly over my house in Hillsboro, Oregon every year
Love these guys so much🧡
Every year, the Blue Angels visit the Bay Area and they fly over my apartment building when orienting themselves to San Francisco. The noise is amazing but very exciting to see such skills and precision.
