what a track, i raced there once in the 80s, i think it was 85, big, wide, high banked and lots of racing groves. too bad it had all the problems. this is the first video ive seen of a race there, thanks.

Sort of sad watching this since it's my local track. I remember going to this track configuration when I was younger and now it's a 3/8 mile where you can still see the old t1 and t2. The racing is still decent with sprints but stuff like this would have been amazing to see again.

You must have some great stories watching races at this track. My local track is now a track pull place. 😢 Enjoy what you have today and Thanks for sharing.

@@bjwhite sadly I only went a few times at most and it was as a kid/young teen but it really is nostalgic seeing the full view of the track.
I did get to see a guy jump a flaming station wagon or something of that nature over a bus at the time. It's just kind of weird watching an old footage and comparing it to today because they haven't done anything to the bleachers/chairbacks but seeing the full length of the track, the long pit box, and even the building in the center of the pits makes me wish it was back in time today.
It was shut down in 2004 then reopened in 2009 under new ownership when they did the conversion and honestly they have been attracting quite a few good series since then. Last summer Tony Stewart showed up for instance.

U know I'll say this again but I still think that the late models from bak in and around 1996 look so much better instead of these twisted pinched or chopped car of 2day

Wendell Wallace...what a clown. Bloomquist was under him on entry and he just drives down into him tearing up two cars.

This track has stands very high still to this day no one sits that low to where u can see in the stands in this video

@@alamkarb im glad to hear that, i was going to comment that it looked like a typical race in texas where there were more empty seats than ones with fannies in em. Looked like a sweet track and facility too

Only problem I saw with that start is Billy Moyer didn't get the lead on the first start. Obviously, they like Billy better than Terry Phillips. Watch the start. Moyer did start the race first. Other than the favoritism, thanks for this old video. I love the late 80s and 90s dirt track racing. I grew up on them years. The best of the dirt track racing.

You are blind and know nothing about these cars. Wallaces car was already committed in the corner even had the front tires turned to the right a little which is no way really to cut down on someine when your car us already commited abd you are rolling into the gas to come out of the turn.. Bloomkiss ran in planning to use wallace as his brakes whether he spun him or jus threw him off enough to get ahead if him to where hopefully the crybaby could run from him the rest of the race w the gap he made from that move and hopefully it throwing wallaces car off enough that he wouldnt catch him the rest of the night because I have seen Bloomkiss be dominant and fast at times, he will surely do some dirty shit, pretty much anything to win when he and his car are lacking and then cry about it. No way wallace cut down on him, if that was the case those cars under power in the middle of curve and more as you come out would be 2 sec faster every lap because from 1/3 the way in until straight 90 pcent of the time the whole goal is to not come out too high because theres a wall there. If he can magically reverse that to cut down on Bloomkiss then his speed from now on will be so fast crybaby wont ever have to worry about getting close to that.#6 again
