- Jamaal Cunningham comes on to discuss the interesting topic of why there aren't a lot of Black dudes who surf & what surfing is like if you're African American. Thanks for the stoke! - Ben
I'm late watching this pod cast. Jamaal is a beautiful human being. What a guy! A REAL LEGEND!!!!
Great interview and interviewee
Great video! ❤️
Dude this was so so good! Glad I found your other channel. You should promote it more on the main so more peeps know about it. Jamaal is such an awesome dude, I live about a hour north of him and surf Trestles & North SD all the time. Maybe I'll see him and get to say hi.
Please dont stop Ben. Thanks!
Jamaal was such a great guest! I've seen him in Casey's vlogs and was always curious to know more about him. You both nailed on this one! The podcasts are getting better and better!
These podcasts are epic. Keep em coming! Excited to see who you interview next haha
I justxwant to say that Jameel should be a movie star so handsome and a nice man
favorite podcast ever so far!!!!
Jamaal just explained what gravy brought to my world about 4 yrs ago,(around 13:30+) Abd I couldn’t be more appreciative 🙏🏼💪🏼🤙🏼
Hope you keep going with this Ben, I think it will grow into something big. You do so well with communicating and you know a lot of great people. Whenever you travel you can still do these and interview the people you know in those areas. Take care, hope the knee is good 😎
Love this guy!
Podcast is a great addition to the dream
This was so good! Keep them coming!
Enjoyed it y'all!
Drinking never caught on with me because you never know when the waves are good and you can't surf drunk or hungover. I was a bartender for 15 years and saw the carnage first hand. We have a lot in common 🤙
Jamaal for the win!!! What an epic dude!!! Way to rep Positive Piney too!!!🏄🏿♂️🍍😎👍🤙✌
Sick backflip, it's a huge achievement! Great interview 🤙
Really love watching these podcasts keep them coming 👏
This is good!!! This guy goes deep
TheAmazingHob heavy coming from such a legend
@@RiGHTEOUSJAMAAL love your thought process
podcast is on point and having jamaal on this episode was really enjoyable. i see jamaal on casey’s vlog also and always stoked on his vibe. keep this going and if i can suggest one thing...ask people at the end what their dream surf spot would be. it would be fun to hear peoples perspective on their dream spot. for the dream!
Excellent interview. Sharing. Ben, you really need to keep this going, for the win, for the boys. That job board tho. Yewww!!!
So sick
Great interview, two great guys. 😎🏴
Damn at 30:37 he gets it again
Real always recognize real 🙏🏼
The best place to surf in Sea Girt is right by one of those pipes. Def feel a little funky but it's worth it lol. Great podcast
55:30-56:10 was worth listening in and of itself!!! CLASSIC!!!
Surfing after a rain is even worse worse now since cities are washing human waste down the storm drains into the ocean. In the early 60's it seemed like everyone was a lot more friendly. We seemed to meet new friends and spend more time talking than riding. So true on being careful what you teach your kids - they take almost everything totally literally.
This dude is cool, lots of great info too. Had no idea about the water being so disgusting after a rain lol would be sick to see you and Brett Barley talk, thanks Ben 🤙
Thanks so much to everyone for watching and Ben for having me 🤙🏾 Anyone who would like to see more from me subscribe to my channel here! Yewwww
Upload some content, bro
I remember in 1997 when I was 27, living in Aspen. My girlfriend and I were practicing jumping and filming each other in the park at Snowmass.
We were barely making it over the flat to hit the downhill transition, but we were trying. My girlfriend was going to jump but she told me to wait to film as someone was coming down and lining up to jump.
I just remember seeing this kid fly over my head about 20ft up, the most effortless and graceful, slow rotating 360, probably a 60ft jump total and used the hill to land, forget the transition.
I saw him regularly after that, only 16 years old and happened to be the only black kid that was a local.
I was like, dude...ripping is not the word for that guy.
I think my takeaway was being pretty happy that the rippiest grom in the elite enclave of Aspen, CO. was a black kid
Oceanside!? Hit me up Jamal, I will surf with you anytime! Fellow Ben Gravy disciples 🤙
Eric Copple yewwww I’ll be back soon let’s shred!
@@RiGHTEOUSJAMAAL for sure!
Gonna have to go edit my own stuff but will be back to finish watching this!🙌🍍 Loving these Ben! Jack of all for life!
Ambassador of stoke🙌🍍
It's just demographics and has nothing to do with the color of your skin. I play basketball all the time and I am usually the only white guy playing with my black friends. It feels so good to break the stereotype and I get so much satisfaction from just being me. I think I may have seen Jamal surfing now that I think about it, late summer in Newport he had a Ben Gravy wetsuit at 36th street? I mentioned that I saw somebody wearing your wetsuit on the vlog. We are all Americans and being a surfer on top of that it's just like you say "For the Win"!
Friday?
Great interview! Stoking on this channel! Yewwww
I used to live next door to Sugar Ray, the used to be called the Shrinky Dinks but had to change their name because of copyright laws. They were the Quiksilver band for parties and wore our sunglasses called SWAK. Mark never surfed but when he was on the beach he would have 5 or 6 girls hanging all over him. Stan is the coolest guy ever and Murphy was kinda of jerk but we got along because I dated a friend of his girlfriend. Rodney was very low key cool and very nice. It's a small world! Best interview I've ever seen, everyone should watch this because it makes so much sense. Ask Jamal if he remembers any of this?
This is the best shit ive ever seen love my nigga J
Expert, Pro, G-mode, Skyrim
Does jamaal have a UA-cam channel?
@1:37 😂😂Jordan❤️
He used to get me sick!
I'll claim that I got Ben on Sugar Ray.
I remember beaches being closed on LBI for needles washing up from the NYC barges dumping trashing the 80's ....
Another small podcast day. STEP IT UP!
Why can you not surf after a rain?
Spotted the J.O.B board
Pod casts r going sic!🤮 Keep up the epic work. Jamal was a perfect guest! Both of you clicked well. Maybe a little long, you could of done a 2 parter.😃 Keep up the positive vibes🤙
Crazy that you snagged Russel Wilson for a podcast
Jack Megale hahahahaha classic
👍🏿👍
This is so sick from a personal level. I grew up surfing. I started swimming at 3 and surfing at 4. So before I realized I was a different color then everyone else surfing I was already a really good surfer. And I think that’s what really helped me not care about the color of my skin. If surfing was only for white people then how come I was good at surfing? Surfing doesn’t discriminate and I think some more people of color shouldn’t be scared to get out there. Yea I get some looks just about everyday like I just invented fire but everyone needs to get out there and charge. If you’re a person of color and scared to surf, dm me on Instagram(same username as my UA-cam), come down to LBI and lets catch some waves.
Dude I just read this and this stoked me out so hard. Glad to hear your journey and perspective. Keep on shredding.
DANK HABITS jersey got a bunch of storms this week so I’ve been out everyday the morning after. Nothing like some clean waves in the AM
Ya got to get rid of that Job board lol replace it with a Gravy train board.@🤙
The show was "The Idiots"? Sounds like type casting to me!!
jamaal lake dog at the SPOT
Big vibes. Locals be shook when gravy pulls up. Period. Hahaa chee
