This is probably the most level headed, relatable, and insightful person I’ve seen do a thing like this. Of course this is but a microcosm of his life, based around a social media experiment…but his description of letting the bacon grease drip into the Mac and cheese just lets me know this dude is a real one.
Wow Evan was the coolest dude you could’ve found for this video. Shoutout to him. Welcomed you into his home, took you guys out on the boat, AND cooked for yal. Seriously awesome.
Imagine living in your fortress, armed, and still miserable and afraid of the world. I understand the adversities that Texas faces, but my God… I love the man and his family that opened their home to the guys for cooking. We need to strive to be more like this in our communities.
i mean, it angered me a bit at first too. but you don't know what people have been through. i am actually a very open and social person, but i have been through so much stuff in my life that that spark of mine has extinguished quite a bit. i am working on getting back there again, but it's not always as simple as it being a choice.
the reason why they are still miserable and afraid of the world is because they have their fortress, guns, and security to hide behind of... it would be more surprising if they weren't sceptical of every little thing. Normally the most secure and protected are the most fearful and insecure.
This is the second video of yours that I have watched and I love what you are doing. Evan's family, including their dog, is filled with love and joy. I will subscribe to your channel because I need to see that there are still kind-hearted people in this mean, hateful world. Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity. ❤
The coolest part was seeing how genuine and relatable Evan was, and not at all what most people would stereotypically imagine "the rich" being like.Breaking out Catan at the end was the icing on the cake!
Yeah seriously! The whole time through I was thinking to myself "wow, this scene looks a lot like what I do with my buddies when we get together. Maybe minus the nice smoker and sous vide haha". Catan really brought it all together.
Evan isn’t the “rich” you hear people complain about. The truly rich people that are actually complained about are the ones who spend 500 million on a trip to space.
When I say I want to be rich I mean I want to be rich like Evan. Wonderful family, well traveled, and not too rich where you can’t invite a stranger inside. Dude was humble and funny.
You can see Haven's curiosity shining already from the way he talks about cooking. Jalopeño poppers dripping onto mac'n'cheese, perfectly sous-vide steaks seared on the grill, umami-bomb mushrooms, ...this dude should have his own cooking show!
Evan is about as close to completing life as you can get. Super nice, genuine, warm, intelligent, interesting well rounded guy whos been incredibly successful and has a beautiful family
Are we gonna talk about criminals (even in rich neighborhoods) impersonating themselves as delivery drivers or whatever, waiting for you to “welcome” them the same way into your house only to get robbed and prolly killed? Quit with this “hospitability” bs, sure if you know a guy or you’re just so desperate to let a stranger into your house, go ahead. Just don’t expect or worse blame others just because they’re more cautious than you are.
I don't think @traetrae11 was blaming the lady at all. Simply pointing out a dramatic difference from someone who said she had guns and dogs and to get off her property to someone that reached out to them and said he wanted to cook them dinner. It wasn't a comment hating on the lady, just pointing out a dramatic juxtaposition.

My thoughts exactly. He is smart although, he said that he thought he was smart, just good at what he did. The thing is that he was a hard worker and cared about the quality of his work where many don't share the same values. He now works where he can appreciate the effort that he puts forth and that is really the thing any hard worker wants. He is the genuine article :)

odd af take, how many 50+ millionaires do you personally know? cause personally i know 5, and 4 of them are great guys, hella nice, open minded and well mannered. but people in my income area over a milion i find are wayyy more pompous and think they are gods gift to men cause the wealth is new to them and not something they have experience with. and for example i did a lil research into evan, and he comes from money his father was a lead partner in Daytona engines in Japan, so he has had 30+ years to get accustomed to having the money and its not his main focus anymore. idk just weird for people to comment on people they dont know at all, striclty based off what they have seen online... if we were to judge evan off what is posted online we would see that he is pushing for less taxes which most under 50 mils are pushing for that, and above 50mil they stop caring, just truly an odd take idk@@willvr4

They may have had a situation in their past like a robbery, and like someone else in the video mentioned - This is a good tactic to case a house. Being on a lake/river doesn't help with this - Because that is access at all hours. We have some estates on the river near me - Very well secure, Security everywhere - 7 houses robbed in 1 night. (I personally think it's an inside job with the security) but it was very clear they used the river and a quiet boat to get in and out.)
Oh my this was one of my favourite videos I’ve seen so nice seeing people make new happy connections and shows that there are still great humble people out there
But without seeing this 99% of people would be saying he made how much? Tax that asshole more. Just how people are. Most wealthy people are like this, people just picture them differently.
I wish all wealthy people were like Evan and his family, not just in the US but around the world. Sharing their blessings, showing you what it feels like to live in their neighborhood, and welcoming them into their home is such a beautiful and selfless act.
Why just wealthy? You mean share their money? C'mon. People have become so jaded because many people think others owe them something. Why can't we all connect without trying to grab what someone else has earned?
I snapped that issus not that they wanted to grab something. I wanted to express that there is a great emotional distance between the richest 10% and most people in the other 90%.
I'll never forget a stranger once in New Orleans gave me such endearing hospitality. She was older and a local. She attempted to buy my friends and I dinner but I could not let her (so I snuck my card to the waiter). She let us park in her garage so we didn't have to pay it at the hotel and showed us around the city. I will never forget her southern hospitality. She was incredibly pure and kindhearted!
That is so amazing, esp in New Orleans. I had the lovely experience of being screamed at by a local on the trolley b/c I dared carry a closed bottle of water onboard. Screamed at me to the point of feeling unsafe. I've done a LOT of travelling & have experienced much kindness, but never in NOLA. What a gem you encountered :-)
Surely, I could list many bad experiences, even from Chi-city which is where I am from. The point of my positive comment is to recognize the good hospitality cause it happens rarely. I am happy for you that you are well travelled and have encountered great kindness, but don't be coming at me with that haterade and sarcasm cause you're just making yourself look bad. @@user-vs6hx9ib2o

Nah. That defeats the purpose of meeting new people and making ACTUAL connections. They would get people that just want a moment of fame or think they might make money for doing it. Also, they're not professional cooks.
Same here. I'm in suburban Western Australia. Love this. I remember this kind of open giving people as a child in the 80's but it's definitely gone now in today's society. Such a refreshing wholesome experience to see this.
I agree but you can't blame anyone who does not even want to answer the door. In today's world, you never know what could go wrong. It can also be nerve wracking bringing in two strangers into your house with your family there.

The difference between the lady who threatened them and Evan is night and day. He’s such a warm personality.
Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that women are likely to be raped.
She has every reason to be that cautious. She’s an old lady, the threatening was her leverage. No need to blame her for being wary.
I don't think @traetrae11 was blaming the lady at all. Simply pointing out a dramatic difference from someone who said she had guns and dogs and to get off her property to someone that reached out to them and said he wanted to cook them dinner.
