“Welcome back to ‘i have no one else to talk to about On Cinema’” driven by pure desperation to gush about something you enjoy to a hungry, far too online audience- that’s working man’s YouTubing
Tim praying “I hope nothing goes wrong” is the most hilariously on the nose moment in On Cinema. From that moment you know it’s absolutely guaranteed that the whole night will be a complete disaster
So breaking the jerk for a second, Greg’s ability as an actor (of Greg) to just ramble with meaningless facts ad infinitum in a way that flows so well (in a way I can’t fully explain) is amazing. It’s just such a rich expression of his role in the world. Like no one else can be a convincing 90s cartoon nerd character without themselves becoming a cartoon, except for Greg.
Both Tim and Gregg are amazing at filibustering, each with different styles. Gregg could easily fill an hour with trivial facts about mediocre movies, while Tim could kill an hour reading 5 names and 4 sentences from a card.
I just absolutely lose it at the bit with Tim putting his phone number on screen and it immediately backfiring as he gets deluged with prank calls. He's so insane and delusional that this possibility didn't even cross his mind. And then seeing his growing irritation and rage as he gets a million calls from not-Ayaka is priceless.
I would argue episode 406 is the first time we get an outsiders perspective on the show when the film professor stands in for Tim and proceeds to belittle Gregg’s expertise
“Welcome back to ‘i have no one else to talk to about On Cinema’” I wear my VFA hat everywhere I go in the desperate hope somebody will notice it and I'll have someone to talk to on cinema about. I'm still waiting.
My favorite Call Me Ayaka moment was when it appeared over the headshot of Kim Delgado looking tough. Then immediately cuts to the real guy, and he just looks completely baffled and confused. Love how threatening "call me ayaka" seems when accompanied by that photo. I also loved that Gregg was insistent that Peter Jackson was gonna make a hundred movies out of the Simmarillion. Even though he already basically adapted that stuff to pad out the Hobbit trilogies runtime. So I doubt Gregg even watched them. Still, James Dean was the greatest Dracula of all time. He'd probably have destroyed the world if it wasn't for Larry Curly and Moe.
The way Gregg says "The Hobbit" kills me. He slightly emphasizes the same part of the phrase every time and it just seems slightly off for some reason and is so funny.
The thing about these guys continuing to give each other infinite second chances is that, at the end of the day, they need each other. They rope other people into their dream, but they all end up leaving. They are each other's only friends.
HANK SQUAD UNITE. Hank is so fucking good, and he's usually my favorite part of every special he's in. He's just so normal, like that is a real guy. No big quirks or eccentricities. Just a man dryly recounted the logistics of his work places merger. The devolution of the food and the death of Tom Chaplin just highlight the rot/mold that Tim and Greg produce. Not even this bit player who talks for 6 minutes in the special is safe from it.
I’m glad you enjoyed the movie, but please remember to use the popcorn rating system. Otherwise you won’t be able to catalogue it in your personal collection using the VFA coding system!!
This special has my inexplicably favorite moment of all time: when Tim almost cracks up after Moe with his closer 'it's interesting to see the Stooges... in that way' 😬
i'd like to bring up that gregg WAS in that episode of decker: port of call hawaii you mentioned where "our values are under attack" was premiered, he was one of the background blink and you'll miss him extras hanging out at the bar with sunglasses and a bad wig clapping along to the song. i crack up every time i see him, lol
Fun fact: the syrup Tim is drinking contains a chemical specifically added to induce intense nausea if consumed in quantity, Tim would have had several times the amount needed. Mixing with alcohol causes the nausea to be even worse so that is a nice touch
I'm so glad somebody is making videos like this. I've watched every single oscar special live, been an on cinema head since the podcast days. The star trek debate storyline alone could have it's own video
This is so great! I've watched these specials over and over and haven't thought of some of the stuff you said. It was like watching them again in a new way!
In Tim's fretless bass playing lies a world of subtleties about where is character is at... It'd be great to work with you on a segment or separate video about that
I give this one 5 bags of popcorn, and I’ll throw in a live ant for Ant-Man!! PS: one of my all-time favorite moments of the series is when Joe Estevez accidentally calls the actor playing James Dean by his real name, “Ralph”
I love on cinema and the entire universe tim and Gregg built. And I agree it sucks that it's really hard to share with others. But your ability to really analyze the series -- I appreciate you dearly and cannot imagine your loneliness 😢
Hi , i love your videos. your takes never miss. Have you seen the movie "The comedy"? Tim is in it, and plays a very complex guy. id love to see your take on it!!
I always wondered what was the in universe reason why Gregg was obsessed with Oh God (besides the obvious fact that it’s a super obscure forgotten movie). When asked why he liked Arthur so much Gregg said “because it had a great message”, but Gregg has no interest in religion because movies are his religion. If you brought up the Bible he’d probably say “this reminds me of Ten Commandments starring Charlton Heston”.
I love the pettiness in Tim when the only Poppy that the Decker series didn't win was the one where Gregg was nominated (supporting actor) and the fact that the "Deckerheads" are dressed as Decker and President Davidson but not as Kington.
It does make you question if he ever even asks the people he promises are coming in a concrete way to be on the show. It could be that in universe they agree to come on but see the car crash coming and cancel or ghost him and the other is him just using the name to get attention assuming the crowd would pressure them to appear. (Fooseytube actually did this where he promised a ton of rappers were going to be at his concert) when asked about how he got them to agree to come (He never even asked them, he said that God told him they'd be there so he believed in God)
“Welcome back to ‘i have no one else to talk to about On Cinema’” driven by pure desperation to gush about something you enjoy to a hungry, far too online audience- that’s working man’s YouTubing
That's why we're all here!
I can't blame him. He's got the Oscar Fever. I think I got it too
Seriously tho, it is a lonely show to watch, literally nobody I know IRL knows about this.
niche
Terri Newman retweeted my comment and it’s all i can think about and nobody knows what it means to me lol

Gregg
Both Tim and Gregg are amazing at filibustering, each with different styles.
Gregg could easily fill an hour with trivial facts about mediocre movies, while Tim could kill an hour reading 5 names and 4 sentences from a card.
The slow downward spiral from Chaplin's Chili to Quik Bite is my favorite recurring joke from the oscar specials.
"Welcome to "I have no one else to talk to about On Cinema"" that's so real
Thanks!
Damn thank you so much!

I will watch every deep dive you do on these
Wow! A woman that watches On Cinema?!

“Welcome back to ‘i have no one else to talk to about On Cinema’”

I saw a very normal looking man wearing a VFA shirt at the grocery store once- I said "Hey, nice shirt!" and he nodded knowingly
One of the top specials imo
totally agree
"Thank you, Kim. Step away before I get pissed." is in the top five lines for me. The way it's delivered is so fucking funny
Another video essay that knocked it outta the park! Thank you, Pinocchio!
I mean thank you, Admiral Gregg!
thank you pinocchio
Honestly thanks for doing this. I didn't know how much I needed a space to truly admire this saga.
I second this, wholeheartedly 👍

This and Tim saying Jackson Hole

Yeah I love how Frank just absorbs Tim's drunk criticism of his food. Like 'OK...' 😬
I vomited from that hotdog
@@JustlarmThat’s your special recipe for hot dog?
Haven't even gotten through the first 2 minutes, but already gave this a 👍. I'll give it another after I see the whole thing.
same HA
I’m glad you enjoyed the movie, but please remember to use the popcorn rating system. Otherwise you won’t be able to catalogue it in your personal collection using the VFA coding system!!
Another fivebagger from Admiral Gorgg! I love your OCATC content man. Beautiful work every time.
you are too kind
This special has my inexplicably favorite moment of all time: when Tim almost cracks up after Moe with his closer 'it's interesting to see the Stooges... in that way' 😬
On Directors with Peyton Reed I can watch over and over.
If he can’t see where he is then he can’t talk about where he is
THEN SAY THAT??!!!
Really appreciate the effort, time, and thoughtful approach you take with each of these videos. This show is the best comedy running IMO
Tim's opening dance and the way he is out of breath minutes later is my favorite part of this special.
i'd like to bring up that gregg WAS in that episode of decker: port of call hawaii you mentioned where "our values are under attack" was premiered, he was one of the background blink and you'll miss him extras hanging out at the bar with sunglasses and a bad wig clapping along to the song. i crack up every time i see him, lol
Hands down my favorite special and its not even close. The slow motion train wreck is a thing of beauty
That was the perfect way to open the video to show how much of a roller coaster these are.
Fun fact: the syrup Tim is drinking contains a chemical specifically added to induce intense nausea if consumed in quantity, Tim would have had several times the amount needed. Mixing with alcohol causes the nausea to be even worse so that is a nice touch
Thats timing of James Deans: "who is this" is so absolutely amazingly hilarious
Truly can’t wait till you get to the 5th Oscar special oh and the 8th!! You simply have to make a video on them all they’re too good!
That's the plan!
I rewatch these every couple of years coming up to crimbus. Your reviews are perfectly timed for me. Thank you.
Thanks again for being my entry into this world.
SO happy to see you uploaded a new one, please keep em comin'! 🙌
I'm so glad somebody is making videos like this. I've watched every single oscar special live, been an on cinema head since the podcast days. The star trek debate storyline alone could have it's own video
Admiral I love these videos thank you so much for making them 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
Another erudite and scholarly investigation. You truly are the king of kings.
Their relationship reminds me a little of Mark and Jeremy in 'Peep Show.'
Really enjoying these videos, thank you!
Let’s go! Thanks for another video!
This is so great! I've watched these specials over and over and haven't thought of some of the stuff you said. It was like watching them again in a new way!
Lol, literally just finished watching your videos on the first 2 specials and you drop this one, here we go
Loving these retrospectives man, looking forward to the next! The James Dean plotline is so ridiculous I love it 😂
This is the best Oscar special, or maybe the 7th
7th is easily my favorite, i really love that one... but this one is great too ofc
I'm still watching this while commenting, but my personal favorite part is "Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye YAH - KAH, are you watching me rn?"
Loving these oscar special retrospectives, hope u keep em coming
This is fabulous as always!
Looooove this special and so appreciative of your insightful and funny commentary!!
Great work just like all the rest of your vids. Binge watched all of them during a slow day at work and loved every second. Can't wait to see more!
Glad you like them! thanks for watching, more to come
Thank God you made another On Cinema video 🙏🏼🙏🏼 these are all incredible 🔥
thank you jayzus almighty father for this new admiral gorgg video!
GET HIM OFF MY SET - never fails to crack me up every single time
Best content! Love these breakdowns
More to come!
Thank you. I feel like i cant talk to anyone else about these either
I love your videos!!
Thank you!!
See that justice is done CONVICT Tim Heidecker.
🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 well done! We got the Costco Fever! Can't wait for 4
love your videos! i think an analysis of some neil hamburger would be super interesting to see
I give this review 5 bags of popcorn and an admiral gorgg plush toy to give to your kids as a toy
It's so nice to know I'm apart of the greatest community of people in history when it comes to a show.
Tim Heidecker is truly an underrated actor. He wouldve been good in alot of comedy movies.
Yes!
Great video! The write in bit is as gold as it gets. For those atrocious Hobbit movies no less, subtitled Hobbit 2 and 3.
Mmm yes, more of this content pleeeeaaase
Yaaaaas what a great way to start a morning!!! ❤❤❤❤ Thanks for another masterpiece ❤ I cannot get enough Mark’s impressions. So beautiful 😍
In Tim's fretless bass playing lies a world of subtleties about where is character is at... It'd be great to work with you on a segment or separate video about that
James Dean is pure comedy genius.
Damnit, why are these so good?
Solid content 😂
I give this one 5 bags of popcorn, and I’ll throw in a live ant for Ant-Man!! PS: one of my all-time favorite moments of the series is when Joe Estevez accidentally calls the actor playing James Dean by his real name, “Ralph”
11:04 "Costco fever" un-ironically sounds terrifying... Why is that?
Admiral Gorgg with another certified five-bagger
Aaaaahh-yaka
The good admiral is doing the Lord's work... again.
For the record I'd just like to say: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing ... MOE!
honestly thats probably top 5 moments in OC for me. the whole living oscar but that line specifically is unbelievably funny lol
Another 5 bagger, so great
I love on cinema and the entire universe tim and Gregg built. And I agree it sucks that it's really hard to share with others. But your ability to really analyze the series -- I appreciate you dearly and cannot imagine your loneliness 😢
"I have no one to talk to about on cinema", aint that the truth brother
This is probably my favorite of the first seven.
Holy shit I didn’t realize that the call in was actually real. It makes total sense!
"It's clear Mark is a true professional that can handle anything that's thrown at him." Interesting choice of phrasing.
Tim's decker shirt is one of my favorite parts of this. It looks so funny especially when it's all distorted. Anyone know if these were ever for sale?
I have you subscribed with the bell on because I also have the Oscar fever with no one to share it with.
I just realized 2 minutes in I didn't see the 2nd annual oscar special video, I'm gonna correct this
"Im eating..."
Larry Turman also called out Gregg on his bullshit.
I see Gorgg, I click
I totally missed tim robotripping the whole fucking time
🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿
Thanks, but the scale only goes up to 5
Larry Truman is another great example of an outsider entering into their universe.
RIP Hank

@@AdmiralGorgg Awesome! Thank you, will be excitedly waiting for it!
Maybe I missed it - do we know how Kim Delgado connects to the Delgado killed at the Desert Sun festival?
No connection! Coincidence I think… Kim Delgado is actually an actor in real life playing himself

Is Tim saying Hucklebee?
