Just got the update yesterday, still playing around with it. Just glad the update came. My Galaxy Note 10 plus got Android 11 one month before and I was kind of getting worried LG might not deliver. So glad they did!
Android 11 on my Pixel 4xl and 3xl. Android 10 on my Galaxy Note 9, LG V40 and Essential PH-1. I know the last three are literally done as per updates but will be upgrading to the V60 soon. Been trying to decide for a while now. That V60 is a real powerhouse and I no longer feel the need to have the absolute latest or greatest phone.
I really hope LG mobile division doesn't cease to exist, but hopefully LG may continue to refine its software, and hopefully add a battery bypass mode like the Sony xperia 1 II and 5II have. And I'm hoping for the next LG V series LG really doesn't give the US a water down version of hardware so they can keep the prices down. I really wish I could return to LG. But they need to do more to assure users that now they got us covered. Otherwise Samsung dex is way ahead and Sony battery bypass is so useful.
I just today got a v60...and just tonight I read the unfortunate news that LG is folding its' mobile ventures. While I'm glad I got this when I did, it is a total bummer. I have had a v20 for the last 4 years and loved it. I am a musician and audiophile alike, so the headphone jack, DAC, and I don't even need to get into it, you all know! I feel sort of the same way right now as when Blackberry stopped making phones. I am still keeping my horribly cracked v20 around for the ir remote function, among other things...long live LG mobile devices.
I so agree with you about the DAC. The audio quality from it is second to none. Heck, it was because of it that I no longer use my wireless headphones and I ended up selling it.
I'm the same way. But this is my third LG Vxx and my retired V30 now serves high definition audio files wired to the house sound system. I expect the V60 will see similar duty when its time comes.

I think we can cut LG some slack for the late updates to the software considering all the extra features they add (dual screen support, pen support, android desktop improvements). At least with the v60 and Velvet. I'm hoping to finally get my v60 this week. Should've arrived in January but lockdown in Virginia caused plans to change.
Just so you know, Juan, the brightness slider can be accessed with a single swipe down on Samsung phones too (thankfully). I believe it's in the settings.
Is there a way to enable desktop mode using usb 2.0 webcam connected to my thunderbolt3/usb-c docking station, that has my display/keyboard/mouse/mic+spkr attached as well, instead of the android 11 phone or tablet builtin front facing camera for apps like skype, teams, zoom?
Android 10 on the V40. I want to upgrade to the V60, but I want to see what happens with LG's releases this year before I do. I hope they make a V70. If LG stops making phones, I'm probably going to use the V60 for like, the next decade lmao. All other phone manufacturers cannot compare to LG (when considering what I value in phones)
I also have a V40. I'm wanting to upgrade to the Velvet because the V60 is just too huge. Hopefully that LG "Rainbow" phone is a real thing and gets released soon.
The dim and non-touch mode makes sense. There are times when you have to handle the phone with a single hand but still need 2 applications on at the same time and both (or one of them) need to be in fullscreen for better function.
Was hoping my favorite camera recording app MCPRO24fps would be able to work correctly again after the update but no. Still get the random app freezing "camera sensor not found". Ughhhh.
@@SomeGadgetGuy It works perfectly fine on my LG V40 and on my LGV60 it was great until the last 2 app updates and then I would get random camera sensor lost notifications and the app would freeze and I would have to close the app and restart it. Any footage I shot just prior to the freeze would be lost. Previously shot scenes would be saved.
Galaxy S20FE user here, running A11, OneUI 3.0. When my Nexdock Touch arrived, I was still rocking the LG G8s, fresh on Android 10. I loved every little bit of that phone, despite the unseemly notch... However, since Nexdock Touch does not work properly with the LG phones (I'd need an extra hub and set of cables to get it running, and I'd be losing the touch functionality either way), I opted for a switch to S20FE and its Dex. S20FE is a fantastic phone (even though I could only get the Exynos version and that one overheats more often than would be appropriate), but I still miss the LG. I sold it to a friend of mine and she loves it just as much as I did and she does not use the desktop mode. My point is, as someone who lives in Dex, I love seeing LG pushing forward with their desktop mode. If they get it to a good place by the time I'm looking for a new phone, I might have a hard time choosing between a foldable Samsung or a dual-screen LG.
Any news on a V70 or new LG flagship that's not a rollable or anything crazy. I've been forced to go back to my old S9 plus since my Pixel 4 XL went for a ride on I89 in Vermont and man I just realized how much I missed the headphone jack, SD card slot and that iris scanner has been clutch for unlocking with a mask on while getting 🤯 looks from iPhone users who ask me how I could do it with a mask on, pure James Bond moment 😎

I've always liked LG's Android skin. Loved the icons and features. Samsung I used to like their skin but nowadays not as much. One Ui is more fluid and cohesive than previous Samsung skins but I preferred the look of 2014/16 TouchWiz. I like the icons better then.
Finally someone agrees. I absolutely hated the way the Galaxy S8 series looked and it's software look. I ultimately loved the G6. I am a fan of Samsung too but those were just plain ugly.
I am using android 11 on a S20 plus and been rocking 11 since December and prior to that 10, of course I did get to enjoy 10 for about 3 and a half months because I got my s20 plus in September and prior to that I used my LG G6 on android 9. any way great video as always and i also dig the different angle you shot this video in and being very different from your usual spot in your office.
Just waiting to receive this on my international version! Regarding the pen sounds and locking the memos, I've had that out of the box since I got my phone in August last year. It actually locks it automatically upon starting a new memo. These improvements, and especially the desktop mode which is a major thing to develop, give me hope we'll be seeing the V70 this year.
Been waiting for it on my Velvet smh. thanks for the advice at the end though,I've been considering factory resetting as is but I'll definitely clean house when my update comes. My battery life has been questionable from the start and I've wondered awhile whether it had something to do with backing up ALL my stuff from my last phone.

Gotta love the invisible navigation swipe gesture. I am probably one of the community that suggested the invisible navigation gesture. It removes that eyesore navigation white bar line on the bottom.
Thorough review. Thanks. V60 android 11. Who knows how many future updates the v60 will get. But the audio quality, battery life , screen quality, toughness, SD card, 3.5mm headphone socket, dual screen MQA... means I'll be using my v60 for as long as possible. And will get a V70 or whatever if LG keep them going. Whilst I don't use my v60 (or other phone) on a large monitor it's good to know it's improving. The things I'd like as an upgrade are hard ware. Another LG attachment like the dual screen but with a physical keyboard. And a V70 with a dial screen that includes a stylus housing. Also, improved cut and paste across apps and improved features to support content sharing (eg taking a link from UA-cam into onenote to work like iOS, manual resequencing of apps to which you send content etc).
Aww maaan, this makes me even more cranky about LG cheaping out on the 4G Velvet. It not only doesn't have desktop mode, it doesn't even support basic video out through the USB C port. I'm not saying that this is a deal breaker, but hearing about all these cool features my phone should have and would have would I live in other regions, it's just sad.
The LG Velvet does have desktop mode! I have a Velvet and have used Desktop mode on it! The velvet android 11 was also released starting in korea, and currently pushing out worldwide!
@@T3CHGY007 The US/5G variant does indeed. I was talking about the EU/4G version. It does not have it. As I said it simply doesn't support video out over USB C only Chrome-/Miracast.
Just did the update earlier today. Hope the stellar battery life remains. The LG V60 was one of my favorite phones from 2020. Returned my S20 Ultra for this. Real happy with it.

By a single comment I've since found on Amazon, it says it is Geolocked and won't unlock until it's been used for 30 min on an Indian carrier within India. I didn't know there was such a thing as Geolocking, otherwise I would have looked out for it/dealt with it before having it sent. I'm floored.

LG V35 (V350n; Unlocked South Korean variant). Running Android 10 & just got the Jan 2021 patch OTA. I'm using this on T-Mobile in Los Angeles & everything is excellent.
It has nothing to do with LG my V60 got Android 11 on Friday. It's your phone carrier who relseases the update to phones not LG. LG just sends it to them to make it work with their systems it's in their hand from there. Dont hate LG because your phone carrier sucks.

The fact is that they just stopped releasing top of the lines and the v series which I also love are never sold in my country. Here an lg velvet is as expensive as a galaxy s20. And as much as I like lg the Samsung(s20 compare to velvet) is just a better phone. I read that LG will stop making phones altogether... That's why I'm going to switch. Nothing to do with hating anything or anyone.

It's always nice to see a company deliver on their promise of software support, SPECIALLY when the V60 doesn't have a direct successor to pull or copy new features from like in years past.
I am running Android 10 on my v35 and it has not worked well for me. The biggest problem is that the upgrade broke text messaging, causing lost messages, unopenable attachments, etc. This was the original reason I decided to regrettably leave LG and the only reason I need to replace the v35.

As far as the battery goes, I assumed that a major update like this would cause a lot of battery drain until it settled so I kept my V60 plugged in during the update. And now, a few days later, after being off the charger for 16 hours with 4 1/2 hours of SOT I still have 42% battery left without having to do a factory reset. Battery life is still excellent.
I have a question, has anyone else's little LED display on the front cover become super dim? Mine is incredibly dim where I can only see it in the dark now.
@@SomeGadgetGuy the problem is, LG does not have fully unlocked devices for sale in the US . My V40 was a verizon version and it got updates. The LG G8, V60 are mostly exclusive with ATT. Unless youre on ATT you wont get updates.
Once Android 11 was installed on my LG V60 thinQ and now it will NOT charge on any charging wall wart except an LG. I have tried multiple charging blocks and cable and nothing will work. You will get a message that fast charging is not available. Using Ampere software, the LG block will give me 1600 to 2000mA. With other charging blocks it drops down to 200mA to 400mA. What's worse, even with fast charging unavailable, it should still slow charge. However, leaving the phone "slow charging" overnight the battery simply does NOT charge. I have tried toggling every setting and even did a factory reset. The issue persists. Has anyone else had this issue?
T Mobile upgraded my V60 2 weeks ago. Photos (Gallery) seemed a bit off, now better. LOVE this phone. Don't tell me LG is moving away from phones. I thought you have gotten through to a few people by now!!! (I came from the V20 and a solid LG sheep.)
Great video! LG have done a good job with LG UX10. I'm really happy with what they've done on the desktop mode. I don't expect the G7 Thinq to get it but the G8 seems like a safe bet. Who knows, LG could surprise me again 🙂
Is anyone else having the issue with LG Music app not playing WMA files on their LG V60?? LG V30 play all with no issue now the V60 won't play. Any fix on that??

Great that the Desktop mode is better. I think it should be the future for all Androids. Listening to you analysing it makes me see how DeX is kinda underrated, how better it is than it's usually said. How advance already is. I use it since 2019 and like it a lot. It's my Chromebook. Hope that Motorola and the others really implement it. Competition is great for us consumers.
Oh I"ve been muscling through with the LG desktop modes too. It's SO handy for how much data I have on my phone, to just pop directly into a more PC style use. More people should really try it.

Does anyone know if there's a fix for the Android 11 battery drain? I've already done a clean factory reset without transferring old settings or reinstalling all old apps. On android 10, I got up to 9.5hrs when I hit 30% battery, now I'm lucky to get 7hrs when I hit 30%. On the battery info screen, I keep noticing there's a drain in the Systems section, but it's definitely not Google Play doing it, and Android System itself is only marginal. Google Play remains at 1% or nothing. Thanks for any help.
I got the update today it screwed up the feature of watching videos and scrolling on the other screen and it disabled my floating bar. I kinda wish I waited to see what happened to everyone else first.😔
It seems like LG is still improving the Desktop Mode. Hope to see it getting more mature in the future.

V60 android 11. Who knows how many future updates the v60 will get. But the audio quality, battery life , screen quality, toughness, SD card, 3.5mm headphone socket, dual screen MQA... means I'll be using my v60 for as long as possible. And will get a V70 or whatever if LG keep them going.
Whilst I don't use my v60 (or other phone) on a large monitor it's good to know it's improving.
The things I'd like as an upgrade are hard ware. Another LG attachment like the dual screen but with a physical keyboard. And a V70 with a dial screen that includes a stylus housing. Also, improved cut and paste across apps and improved features to support content sharing (eg taking a link from UA-cam into onenote to work like iOS, manual resequencing of apps to which you send content etc).
Aww maaan, this makes me even more cranky about LG cheaping out on the 4G Velvet. It not only doesn't have desktop mode, it doesn't even support basic video out through the USB C port. I'm not saying that this is a deal breaker, but hearing about all these cool features my phone should have and would have would I live in other regions, it's just sad.
The LG Velvet does have desktop mode! I have a Velvet and have used Desktop mode on it! The velvet android 11 was also released starting in korea, and currently pushing out worldwide!
@@T3CHGY007 The US/5G variant does indeed. I was talking about the EU/4G version. It does not have it. As I said it simply doesn't support video out over USB C only Chrome-/Miracast.

Just did the update earlier today. Hope the stellar battery life remains. The LG V60 was one of my favorite phones from 2020. Returned my S20 Ultra for this. Real happy with it.
A11 seems to take a larger hit, but we're doing better than the Samsung folks on this current patch. 😬

@@chriswright8074 Thanks for the info. The G8X was delivered yesterday. However, it won't use my SIM. By a single comment I've since found on Amazon, it says it is Geolocked and won't unlock until it's been used for 30 min on an Indian carrier within India. I didn't know there was such a thing as Geolocking, otherwise I would have looked out for it/dealt with it before having it sent. I'm floored.

It has nothing to do with LG my V60 got Android 11 on Friday. It's your phone carrier who relseases the update to phones not LG. LG just sends it to them to make it work with their systems it's in their hand from there. Dont hate LG because your phone carrier sucks.

The fact is that they just stopped releasing top of the lines and the v series which I also love are never sold in my country. Here an lg velvet is as expensive as a galaxy s20. And as much as I like lg the Samsung(s20 compare to velvet) is just a better phone. I read that LG will stop making phones altogether... That's why I'm going to switch. Nothing to do with hating anything or anyone.

I am running Android 10 on my v35 and it has not worked well for me. The biggest problem is that the upgrade broke text messaging, causing lost messages, unopenable attachments, etc. This was the original reason I decided to regrettably leave LG and the only reason I need to replace the v35.
🤔 Maybe i should be thankful im still on 9 PIE on my V35. I have the LM-V350ULM model. It's unlocked but its the Amazon Prime Alexa Hands Free edition. It's running A'OK 👌at the moment. But ive been reading comments about A10 messing up what was once a good thing.

Can and do u edit videos using the nexdock2(no touch) I got a 2 in 1 and thoughts it would work smh. Im new but I can still return and got a nex dock2. I would rather have that too if that could work
You can, but you have to get a feel for the trackpad. I think it works ok, but it'll mostly depend on what you like and how much you practice.

My v60 second screen opens everything as a window any solution? Is so annoying can't do anything
As far as the battery goes, I assumed that a major update like this would cause a lot of battery drain until it settled so I kept my V60 plugged in during the update. And now, a few days later, after being off the charger for 16 hours with 4 1/2 hours of SOT I still have 42% battery left without having to do a factory reset. Battery life is still excellent.
I have a question, has anyone else's little LED display on the front cover become super dim? Mine is incredibly dim where I can only see it in the dark now.
My ATT LG G8 wont update from android pie unless its on the ATT network. LG great hardware but lacks in software support .
I mean... That sound more like an ATT problem than an LG problem...
@@SomeGadgetGuy the problem is, LG does not have fully unlocked devices for sale in the US . My V40 was a verizon version and it got updates. The LG G8, V60 are mostly exclusive with ATT. Unless youre on ATT you wont get updates.
Once Android 11 was installed on my LG V60 thinQ and now it will NOT charge on any charging wall wart except an LG. I have tried multiple charging blocks and cable and nothing will work. You will get a message that fast charging is not available. Using Ampere software, the LG block will give me 1600 to 2000mA. With other charging blocks it drops down to 200mA to 400mA. What's worse, even with fast charging unavailable, it should still slow charge. However, leaving the phone "slow charging" overnight the battery simply does NOT charge. I have tried toggling every setting and even did a factory reset. The issue persists. Has anyone else had this issue?
T Mobile upgraded my V60 2 weeks ago. Photos (Gallery) seemed a bit off, now better. LOVE this phone. Don't tell me LG is moving away from phones. I thought you have gotten through to a few people by now!!! (I came from the V20 and a solid LG sheep.)

Great video! LG have done a good job with LG UX10. I'm really happy with what they've done on the desktop mode.
I don't expect the G7 Thinq to get it but the G8 seems like a safe bet. Who knows, LG could surprise me again 🙂

This is great to see! I have a V60 on the way and something I was worried about was the weak desktop mode coming from Dex.
Dex is still better, but this is much more usable than where we were a year ago.

Great that the Desktop mode is better. I think it should be the future for all Androids.
Listening to you analysing it makes me see how DeX is kinda underrated, how better it is than it's usually said. How advance already is. I use it since 2019 and like it a lot. It's my Chromebook.
Hope that Motorola and the others really implement it. Competition is great for us consumers.
Dex is one of the best features Samsung has put out. Drives me crazy they won't make a nexdock style laptop dock to support it.

Oh I"ve been muscling through with the LG desktop modes too. It's SO handy for how much data I have on my phone, to just pop directly into a more PC style use. More people should really try it.
@@SomeGadgetGuy totally yes. I even more and more prefer to use the desktop mode at home instead of the phone, ou even my tablet. So more comfortable to use a screen, mouse and keyboard. And it's another level of multitasking.

Does anyone know if there's a fix for the Android 11 battery drain? I've already done a clean factory reset without transferring old settings or reinstalling all old apps. On android 10, I got up to 9.5hrs when I hit 30% battery, now I'm lucky to get 7hrs when I hit 30%. On the battery info screen, I keep noticing there's a drain in the Systems section, but it's definitely not Google Play doing it, and Android System itself is only marginal. Google Play remains at 1% or nothing. Thanks for any help.
I got the update today it screwed up the feature of watching videos and scrolling on the other screen and it disabled my floating bar. I kinda wish I waited to see what happened to everyone else first.😔
Hurm. I didn't use the floating bar, but I can still stream video on one screen and do something else on the other.
