The judge's acting in this was really goofy/over the top. I also find this scene morbid because of the ghosts: two murderers who were sentenced to death by electric chair & are reenacting their final moments as ghosts, it's kind of fascinating
A lot of the paranormal content in the Ghostbusters franchise (the original one, specifically) is based on metaphysicism and paranormal research that was heavily prevalent in the 80's. Specifically it was the idea that ghosts, while real, were as much supernatural as they were scientifically explainable in some form or fashion - in this case that they were primarily broken down into categories such as 'psychic echoes', manifestations of strong emotional or psychic activity, or interdimensional phenomena. You can find similar themes in other works released in the 80's both in novel, TV/film and even in gaming formats such as the tabletop RPG Shadowrun, or the Japanese novel/anime/RPG franchise Megami Tensei (which would later go on to spawn the Shin Megami Tensei and the Persona franchises which continue this same metaphysics concepts).
3:25 I love that here you get the sense of how powerful the proton packs are and difficult to control so it's not easy to just point it and expect to catch a ghost instantly. I don't know why I just love that.
They emulated that feel so well in Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Sure, it's frustrating at times, even with the upgrade, but that reflects how it isn't as easy it looks wearing down and trapping a ghost with those proton streams.
I think the fact that he just witnessed the brothers he sentenced to death in the past come back as ghosts and attached to electric chairs was enough to haunt him. Which i'm sure he was convinced that there was no way the guys knew about the case before.
@@rickylucas6503 Well hopefully he didn't sentence them while they were innocent of the charges. If so, I would call it a career after witnessing something like this in the court room if I was in his shoes.
It just kills me how quick the judge reacted to them, and proceeded to do an Olympic leap and crawl under the table. It’s like he knew it was going to happen and I love it
The judge was played by Harris Yulin, a very prolific character actor who has played minor roles in more than a hundred Hollywood films. A very experienced actor and it shows. He knew how to play the role just right.
I love the little details. Remember in the first film they were told not to look at the trap, so when they're trapping the Scoleri Brothers, they turn their heads away until it's done.
I love Ghostbuster 2! Is so good and underrated! I never understand all the hate. A lot of people said that is trash, is a cash grab, horrible sequel... For me is fantastic. It has better effects, is way more funny, better story, a way better antagonist and it had more scary moments.
A friend of mine used to say everyone DID love Ghostbusters 2, maybe not as much as the first, but we loved the sequel. It was when the internet became a thing and 'GB2 sucked' caught on that suddenly anyone who hasn't seen it in a good while just went along with it 'cause the internet said so'.

It's all awesome!
And HE didn't believe in ghosts, huh? Hypocrite judge.
3:25 I love that here you get the sense of how powerful the proton packs are and difficult to control so it's not easy to just point it and expect to catch a ghost instantly. I don't know why I just love that.
Adds alot of depth!
It adds a sense of honesty, they have to work for it.
They emulated that feel so well in Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Sure, it's frustrating at times, even with the upgrade, but that reflects how it isn't as easy it looks wearing down and trapping a ghost with those proton streams.
I’ve seen this 1000 times and love it more each time!
Dooooo. Reyyyyyyyy, Egonnnnn! That bit always got me.
1:43 "MY GUYS ARE STILL UNDER A JUDICIA MESTRAINSMENT ORDER... THAT BLUE THING I GOT FROM HER!!" Best line XD
Everyone panicking
No one
Literally no one
Ray: “WoW”
Peter: "Do."
Ray: "Rey."
Egon: "Egon."
I love that joke and Egon's smirk.
This court scene always puts a big smile on my face. I just wish the judge was thrown around a little before he receded the order
@@anthonygarrone8420 i highly doubt it. They seem like they were no good SOBs in life too.
As a kid I thought when the pink slime bubble an the ghost came out of that was amazing. An still do
It just kills me how quick the judge reacted to them, and proceeded to do an Olympic leap and crawl under the table. It’s like he knew it was going to happen and I love it
1:01
I love how there is a paper blowing onto Bill Murray’s face! 🤣🤣🤣
We're the best, we're the beautiful, we're the ONLY...Ghostbusters!
Cue 2016
WE'RE BACK!!
I have to say the actor playing the judge chews the scenery beautifully here.
The judge was played by Harris Yulin, a very prolific character actor who has played minor roles in more than a hundred Hollywood films. A very experienced actor and it shows. He knew how to play the role just right.
Harold Ramis would later bring him on to act in “Multiplicity.”

So satisfying
Without a doubt one of the best scenes ever in movie history!
This is definitely one of my favorite scenes from that movie. The Scoleri Bros are both wickedly and cleverly well-designed! 👌🏻👻
Wario and Waluigi in my head
If it was them they would be haunting Sakurai
especially after hearing the boo ghost laugh at 1:39
Nunzio Scoleri = Wario
Tony Scoleri = Waluigi
Sacco y vanzetti in mine ....
@@Grans17 in that case, should have let them get their revenge
4:03 my favourite scene.
I love the little details. Remember in the first film they were told not to look at the trap, so when they're trapping the Scoleri Brothers, they turn their heads away until it's done.
GB2 was low key awesome. I saw it as a kid a lot and always loved it.
Best Ghostbusters scene! Hope the new Ghostbusters lives up to the hype. They have huge shoes to fill.
''And you don't want us exposing ourselves''.
Egon is my favorite Ghostbuster, I'm so glad Afterlife made him justice and gave the fans closure on many things.
Each time the proton packs turn on, shivers, man, chills!!!!
"Very good, Louis... Short, but pointless." Lmfao best line in the movie
That sheet of paper at 1:01 smacking into Peter's face was the perfect accident 🤣
Ghostbusters 2 has some issues, but it's a very good sequel. This, and many other moments, are great.
Still better than the 2016 movie
@@HerooftheWild agreed.
@@HerooftheWild Waaaay better
@@HerooftheWild 1000%
It's a work a genius compared to Afterlife.
If High Blood Pressure was a person LMAO 0:48
I love Ghostbuster 2! Is so good and underrated! I never understand all the hate. A lot of people said that is trash, is a cash grab, horrible sequel... For me is fantastic. It has better effects, is way more funny, better story, a way better antagonist and it had more scary moments.
I wouldn't say it's better than the first one, which was like catching wildfire. But it IS a fun sequel, and I don't get the dislike for it, either.
I think a good deal of the hate comes from that stupid sequence with the Statue of Liberty and the Nintendo joystick.
1:26 I laughed my ass off when Tony Scoleri's ghost lifted the pew where those 5 bums were hiding lmao
Funny thing is the prosecutor being thrown out of court, it's their case being thrown out of court and the Ghostbusters are back! Smart metaphor!
“You’re next, Bubbles.” 🤣
Peter: Dooooooo!
Ray: Reeeeee!
Egon: Egooooooooon!
*Peter looks at Egon*
X-D That part here always gets to me since I love that Egon shows he can crack a pretty good joke when he wants to. :)
When he smiles at Peter and Ray, he must be thinking “that’s right, I made a funny”!!
@@AnilSubhrai That's what I thought too :) Even Egon's smile sells it for sure!
The judge was my favorite character, he’s so funny XD
Still love it. I remember seeing I at the cinema as a small kid. Brings back great memories.
Best scene from the movie. The Ghostbusters are back.
The way the judges eyes lit up just as the two brothers jumped out. Straight from hell. Great movie.
1:20 As a kid this ghost scares the hell outta me but the fat one reminds me of The nightmare before Christmas
Oogie Boogie?
