Fantastic comparison. I’m going A for cleans and B for distortion. But if I had to pick just one, I’d go A, B just sounded muffled in the cleans but more dynamic with gain and A overall sounded more balanced.
Great video! I have really expensive pickups and others that are alot less expensive and it seems if you play with alot of gain most of the time like I do it doesn't really make a difference as long as it's not some cheap microphonic pickups. But it seems you can tell alot more playing clean. So that's been my experience anyway.
As far as distorted riffs A had a more substantial presence. Everything else is better, IMO, with the B pick-ups. I'm going back to hear the rest of the video now. Ok, you didn't tell us. Also, I would guess that A was Alnico 5 and B was Alnico 2, which has always been my preference in any pickup type.
No offense but the audio of your voice was very odd and boxy so much that I almost didn’t watch the rest. Glad I did though. Based on what I heard using headphones, B was the clear winner. Much more complexity and complementary harmonics. A wasn’t terrible just more one dimensional and sterile sounding to me. Looking forward to seeing which is which
Thanks. It's hard to get a clear sound with a microphone unless you spend heavy on it. For a non-profit channel, I just can't do it atm. I'd like to fix it at some point though. Maybe I can find a cost effective solution at some point. I'll reveal which is which soon 😁
You should try Catswhiskers pickups hand made and hand wound by the owner , and a lot less in cost than the big names
The differences were so subtle that I definitely would not go through the trouble of swapping. I don't solder, so there's also that.
Yeah, it is surprisingly similar in many of the samples!

Great video! Not sure which one is which but I'm going with A as my favorite one. I'll keep an eye out for the reveal!
Thx for watching!

I agree with you. There's very little difference when using high gain.

I'm going to say A is the SD and B the other set?? Both sound great though.
I definitely think they sound great.
Great vidya, Raf.
Thank you!
1: B
2: B (but I loved A)
3: A
4: B
5: B (by a hair)
Great comparison thanks!
Thanks for the kind words. I think both sets sound great. 😃
B, all the way!
B definitely sounds great!

The threads for the winds are now being made from Odin's beard.
Weird- CLEAN- B Neck was better for me. A bridge was waaay better.
The B bridge was very too hot clean.
B!

I dunno, the voice sounds ok to me
