That's the story of my parents, both WWII veterans, Dad an American sailor and my Mom a RAF WAAF Corporal. They met a dance in Cardiff, Wales. Dad kept cutting in on all her dance partners and finally convinced her to let him walk her back to her barracks. The rest is history as the saying goes. Mom was engaged to a British officer and broke the engagement to marry my Dad. They were married for 50 years until their deaths one year apart.

When I was a Security Officer I worked side by side with Police Officers and it was like being in a big family.
I was in my security car guarding the Great Adventure stores in Jackson, NJ. and this one officer (amoung others) would come into the parking lot and we'd chat.
One night after he'd left my parking lot about 15 min latter I'd heard my friend had been in a car accident, a drunk driver had hit him & the drunk was fine, my police officer friend was killed. He was a father of 5.
I heard over my raidio how are we going to tell his wife & ( I can still hear that man's voice) tears just poured down my face as they are now just thinking about it.
I luv the Police, Fire folks, EMTS ...All do such an AMAZING JOB. XOXOX 💖
A funny thing happened. It was almost Hallween & I put a rubber hand sticking out of my trunk. Long story short I got stopped. A police officer I knew had a rookie with him had stopped me & the rookie was all gong hoe, my officer friend knew it was a joke but he just stood back & watched.
The rookie ordered me to open my trunk, I did & the hand and part of the phoney arm fell down to the ground, I thought the poor dude would faint. We all had a laugh over it but I never stuck the hand/arm thing in my trunk again.😂😁

My favorite was the police officer dancing with the children, so cute! Then the sobriety test one was my second favorite. The one with the fireman was my third favorite. :D
Haha, with the exception of one, none of them actually did the 'slip n slide'. Which is alright by me, given how much fun they appeared to have. I must say, it was certainly so much fun to watch. Thank you for this!!

I'm wondering where you got your dance partner from though? No matter though, keep up the good work and stay safe, please. Should you ever get to write me a speeding ticket, I will still shake your hand and thank you too! :-) My dad joined the St Louis City PD in 1939, was an MP in WWII and went right back to the force. Retired and worked another 10 years as a civi at the Greater SL Police Academy until our house was paid off. It's great showing a more human and fun-loving side of our LEO's for all to see!
