Lyrics:
Born of a broken man, but not a broken man
Born of a broken man, never a broken man
Born of a broken man, but not a broken man
Born of a broken man, never a broken man
#BornofaBrokenMan #RATM #OfficialAudio
My father's 27th year tomorrow. he was a broken man himself and his tragic passing has followed me like a shadow most of my life and the song's verses is a similar telling to how i sometimes cope with the loss. I'm an man myself now and although i'm forever broken by what happened, but have done countless work to better myself. sleep well dad.
😢
❤
Nothing about this song resonated more than the image of his mind "like moths trapped in a lampshade, forever awake, waiting for someone to turn off the light". I have felt exactly this way more often than anyone should have to.
My father has always been a confused man a broken man, who used anger as a tool to express himself. Even as i kid this song shed so much light for me about who he was and now as a man now i understand his struggles and his weaknesses but one thing always resonates with me that i would learn from his experience and would never do the same to my family including him. Thanks for the lesson abbu, i love you regardless of everything.
My father is an abusive nassasict that I have cut out of my life. I now have a son of my own and put significant effort to affirm the line of abuse ends with me. My son will not be plagued with the same pain and anger that resides within me. I was born of a broken man. I love you, Wyatt.
"It's easier to build strong children than to repair broken men." -Frederick Douglass
Respect to you! You're breaking the cycle of suffering and abuse not just for your son but for all who follow. You are truly a man. One's age does not guarantee manhood, it is one's deeds that do that. 🫶🏻💪🏻
Nobody is gonna want the best for you but your father. You are born of a broken society, that tries to put parents in a negative light. Your society is a sick ill society. Parents are everything. Parent might not be the perfect people, but they are the perfect people to confide to who will be there for you no matter what. Your concept of abuse is the result of your society. A Father is supposed to discipline his children. I 1 million percent disagree with you and your whole culture.
Shout out to all of the species those try to get over scars and sadness themselves
@samofrabat not true, blood isn't thicker than self-interest.
@@samofrabatwhat a shitty thing to say after someone disclosed they survived abuse.
21 years ago this song saved my life.
How?
@@michaelrajnacok7980I was a teen, just had my Mom die to cancer, was feeling extra shitty one day and drank too much. Got a 12 gauge and had the plans to paint the walls. Figured I'd go out with a bang listening to my fav band, only I really listened to the lyrics and it made me feel like even though this world sucks, I can be a warrior by keeping on living. Made me feel like I was hella weak by holding that gun barrel towards me. Still here today, still rockin and rollin.
If you ever feel as low as I was, remember this cursed world wants to drag us down. It doesn't want us to succeed.
Keep on living, cause we're all born of broken men, but we don't have to be broken, man.
@@86thsamurai I am so sorry for that. But I am happy you chose right, I was there too, altough for other reasons. Sadly, too many times to say it out loud. Stay strong my friend!
and then they killed you with grey hair, no live music or new creativity and mansions for early retirement

Zach wrote this song about his father, so I’d expect it to be heavy as elephant balls.
Hi Zack. If by chance you ever read this, here's what I'd like you to know: the reason this song validated me so much is because I've known someone like that too. Someone I thought I could fix, but I couldn't. Someone who evoked Jesus while at the same time hating people. Someone who treated me in ways I would never, ever, ever treat another human being. Someone I'm still afraid of despite years of silence. She was a broken woman, but I'll never be a broken woman. I can't thank you enough, man. I can't thank you enough.
i felt this.

I can relate brother
Born of a broken man-BUT NOT A BROKEN MAN!
For an unnecessarily long amount of time I've fought with my demons. My father and his neglect of my mother and I being the main culprit. Sitting here in my despair not wanting to become him I remembered this song. It has been two decades since last heard this message, and one thing remains clear. I am not him nor will I ever be. This is my anthem. Thank you Zack.
My fears hunt me down
Capturing my memories
The frontier of loss
They try to escape across the street where
Jesus stripped bare
And raped the spirit he was supposed to nurture
In the name of my
In the name of my
Born of a broken man, but not a broken man
Born of a broken man, never a broken man
Born of a broken man, but not a broken man
Born of a broken man, never a broken man
Like autumn leaves his sense fell from him
An empty glass of himself shattered somewhere within
His thoughts like a hundred moths
Trapped in a lampshade
Somewhere within
Their wings banging and burning
On through endless night
Forever awake he lies shaking and starving
Praying for someone to turn off the light
Born of a broken man, never a broken man
Born of a broken man, but not a broken man
Born of a broken man, never a broken man
Born of a broken man, but not a broken man
My fear is hunting me down
Capturing my memories
The frontier of laos
They try to escape across the street where
Jesus stripped bare
And raped the spirit he was supposed to nurture
In the name of my
In the name of my
Yeah
Born of a broken man, but not a broken man
Born of a broken man, never a broken man
Born of a broken man, never a broken man
Born of a broken man, but not a broken man

This is an important song to me. It's been important to me for a long time. It's seen me through frustration, through loss, through grief. It continues to help me when times are dire.
My thanks to Rage Against the Machine for giving me strength time and again over the years.
This notification scared the living shit out of me

Turn it up boys! Let the pain out!
i honestly dont understand how this song only has 200k views... i was raised on this song...
Rage... Rage... RATM.... that's the sound we need now...!!!
Chills.... The lyrics, and of course that insane riff.... I'm not into metal actually, I prefer rock because the anxiety I can't hear sounds so loud, but RATM will always be part of my heart. Their first album literally cured my depression.
i wouldnt call rage metal by any means. more (political) 'hard funk rock' but its, ok, not many people have seen original lineup slayer a tonne of times in their lives
in that case it wasnt an acutal depression. nothing but actually feeling alive can cure that
Then you were sad, you can't "Cure" depression
@@mattebabelratm and slayer are both metal and i will die by saying that.
Best music for back and biceps workout

Heaviest song from them

A beautiful song 🤘

This played in a bowling alley (along with Pantera) during my bratty brother's birthday. The look on his face when I was jamming out to this instead of whatever "kids" music he listens to.
@Chris Johnson nah, he did. he thought i liked hs music for some reason.
@Chris Johnson you obviously don't know my brother. my brother is pretty bratty, spoiled kid who wants everyone to do what he does. i doubt you'd know, though.

Ok the start sounded like it was coming out of my toilet or something. And it always sounded like someone was knocking at my door with the bass drum kick. Especially in the chorus. Kno-kno-kno-knock BOOGEYMAN! Kno-kno-kno-knock BOOGEYMAN! This woman singing is angry about her life. And in a time where she can talk and reach out? I don’t understand why she doesn’t. And that acoustic guitarist is average hey. Unfortunately another raining for the machines song I don’t get the hype about. And they’re like what, 2 years old?

And also, you should try listening to some John Coonce or Maggie Stapleton. It's better than this new crap all the young kids are listening to. I remember when this hit the radio stations in 2019. It was just ridiculous. And the church. Just heck. Nice. Ok. Why. But of course, why not? Try some lovely novice vocalists or people who haven't quite reached a pitch or any sort of comprehendible noise for that matter. It's a lovely change in the direction of life. Toasted huts and lots of sun and moons. Helps with the kelp. But once again, massive sea change in having a woman scream about boogeymen and bananas (which of course she is, its 2021 and everyone has problems they need everyone to know about. And better yet, its a woman screaming about men again. Boogeymen. It's old feminist ways are just that now - old.) But, find solace in that we're all absolutely nothing on the grand scheme. Your life is what - your couch and your car when you're dead? Of course it is! People don't remember you for you, gosh darn the hell, they remember you for your material possessions and how much growth in stimulus and mental capacity in a monetary environment you had or stole. All eulogies are reflections of bank accounts. Real recognizes reel. Fishes in many pans while I violently masturbate with no hands. Don't mind the spam. It's processed meat anyhow.
