My dad had a 1978 T registered orange Marina estate which we had from nearly new and for 10 years, I have so many memories of it, and can remember servicing it with him ❤ its great to see one on the road like that 😊😊
Your car looks excellent. The covers are a real improvement over the others and suit the period of the Marina. Esg, was just to signify a "person of standing", or perhaps someone who thought they were!
Barclays Bank always used to put 'Esq' after the name of male account holders for some reason! Not sure if they still do, but did when I had an account with them in the 90s.
Congratulations on your superb new toy. Looks extremely tidy & perfect 1970s retro BL colour. , loving the tiger seat covers, perfect brother for Peggy. Nostalgic memories , back in the 1970s, a school friends mum & dad had matching R reg Orange estates, his mums was 1.3 & dads was 1.8, they were kept in a Double garage, which was very posh back then
At "4:09" looks like car was parked in one direction & got a whole lot of sun on one side. Moving forward, love your new seat covers. The yellow estate 💛 Marina is well on the way to being a much cherished gem 💎 that it is. Thanks for changing the plates to original 😊❤
I absolutely love it Alex. Those seat covers were gross I am glad you put the tiger print ones on it realy suits it. Those reg plates look so much better than the modern ones and the interior has come up lovely after a clean. There is tons of space in Marley it's so useful.
I loved seeing your car recently. I'm well impressed and love those seat covers, and the green carpet! Remi had better come over and clean my number plates I think. I'm keeping my originals.
My father bought a brand new 1978 Marina, burgundy colour 4 door saloon. It's came with a couple of free rust bubbles in the showroom 😢. It was very comfy and and he left the plastic plastic factory covers 😀 on the seats 💺, for the first 5 years
Love the colour of this Marina, my uncle Jim had a maroon saloon. Which had an lpg conversion in the boot, unjustly hated cars. The sun has damaged the plastics of the seats. This was built years before uv resistant plastics.
love the new chariot Alex, I Travelled do school in HHA 232N as a kid, it was kinda British racing green 1.8.. but it started every time & got us where we needed to go..
Alex, I LURV 💖 the seat covers now all you need are the fluffy dice to match. Remy polishing out a "bullet hole" made me chuckle. That is one hell of a nice Marina and I think you have scored a blinder with it. Kendal is in Cumbria on the way the the Lake District. I think PJ reg is from Preston.
I remember working on these and MOTing them in the early 80’s. If memory serves me correctly they had the same front suspension as the Morris Minor and the trunnions need greasing regularly. The estates are so rare. It looks in really good condition
Congrats on Molly, she seems a real luv. I am just a little bit jelly of your Marina ESTATE! I had to scream the estate because I've never even seen one over here. (puts finger on a map of southern California)
@Alexsassets oh that's right. Oops. Sorry Marley! It's cool, mon! Reminder not to dictate to the phone, and not proof before sending. Guess I said it too British. ;-)
I really like your choice in (UK) cars Alex. Not sure about your choice in seat covers! However, I do approve of you fitting them. Better to have some inexpensive covers than the damaged seats. He looks a really nice practical car. I am a bit sad that Jesse is being semi-retired. I am in love with Jesse. (Who needs synchro on first?)
I'd love to add an Australian Austin Marina with the E series engine instead of the old pushrod B series to my BMC/BL fleet. Yes, they were Austins in Australia and Leyland Australia also made a straight six Marina, possibly a tad nose heavy? I need to drive one to find out! No idea how that came about. I could also enjoy a nice 1800 TC coupé, preferably in either Citron, Blaze or Black Tulip, BL speak for a very dark purple and an ideal stablemate for my pink Morris 2200, not a factory colour but it came like that and it matches my favourite wellies.❤
Very nice Alex. Very 70s sear covers lol. By the way, it might be an idea to get a fire extinguisher for each car, because of the ethanol in E10 petrol. £9.99 in my local ALDI on special. Hope you never need it, but always good to be prepared.
The rear seat seams to have suffered more on the passenger side and also the front passenger seat is in worse condition , I'd guess it's spent an amount of time parked sideways against a building so one side of the car has been hammered by UV and the other side hasn't. The plastics in the seat cover will have broken down cracked split and peeled .
I remember in professionals they had a couple of Marines one was Orange colour (burnt orange)..? and the van was white in colour great TV CARS of the 1970's I had a 1974 Coupe 1300 with sunroof. So I am confused as you have recently bought 2 estate cars herald and Marina lol just need a Triumph 2.5 s Estate car from 1976/7 in British racing green or Pageant blue or Inca yellow Personally I have 2 different estate cars Vauxhall Vectra Estate SRICDTI 1.9 on 09 plate.131.200..? And a high mileage 07 plate Audi A6 2.7TDI estate 194.200 miles.. Not forgetting the Range Rover Vogue is estate too 3.0 BMW Diesel engine 55 plate.. You would like my 4.0 petrol XJ8 Jaguar 2001 plate 127000..?
Hello Ma'am , BL seemed to have trouble designing tailgates in the 70s , the Allegro estate was another that when wrong ! It was like we don' know what to do ! a tailgate what's that ?
I still have a pair of the white karobes imitation sheepskin seat covers my grandmother said I could borrow them but would never give them to me.she died in 1986 .id never part with them
I am little concerned about the number of tigers that had to be sacrificed for those seat covers. Tigers are now an endangered species in England I am led to believe 😢
I think part of the experience of ownership is an "interesting" paint colour that you would not see on the road today - so for that reason alone, I love the colour 😊

love the tiger seat covers nice and cosy for winter. Good luck with the car Alex x
I'm impressed that car has survived & is still on the road....👌
Greetings from the U.S,
Your videos were suggested by UA-cam, and I have been quite happy with the 2 that I have watched.
Keep up the good work 👏
Thank you 😊 x

ESQ = Esquire = Any Old Bloke 👍
🤣🤣
Boys used to have esquire after their name. I did when I was a lad.
@69spook 😯
Barclays Bank always used to put 'Esq' after the name of male account holders for some reason! Not sure if they still do, but did when I had an account with them in the 90s.
@@Yossarian-uj9dhYes, Esquire was a title used mostly by businesses to address younger blokes who had outgrown "Master," possibly.
What a sweet car marley is..that dash is really cool and would look good in modern cars 👌🦖

Love the marina estate looks really solid. And I couldn't have picked a finer set of seat covers myself enjoy it.
Looks a very nice honest car .
Glad your enjoying it alex

The tiger seat covers go well with the Tiger badge on the boot !
Looking fantastic Alex! I probably should get some seat covers for my Allegro

Done just the same as you had loads of cars and vans but i always end up back with a p4 on number 6 now . The mariner to look solid 🤠
the car looks good Gary from Crewe
4:30 I reckon aliens ate it. Make sure they're not still hiding in the glove box.
Nice car. My friend's dad had a yellow Marina estate in the 80s which they named 'Rusty Custard'. 😅
I remember working on these and MOTing them in the early 80’s. If memory serves me correctly they had the same front suspension as the Morris Minor and the trunnions need greasing regularly. The estates are so rare. It looks in really good condition

I had those exact seat covers in my Mini Clubman, and you’ll find it adds to sound deadening and less echoey too.

I will still get Jessie out and about 😇🥰
I had same car but a saloon model back in 1993 i was 24 years old mine was a 1.3 i got my car from a pub landlord in poole dorset
Never liked these cars but it's perfect for you, it's in decent shape and the engine has enough grunt to keep up with traffic. Good luck with it 🤗👍🇮🇪
Must be the earliest Morris Marina estate alive, L reg introduced a year after the saloon and coupe like Ford Cortina and Hillman Avenger estates.
Excellent content, Alex ,
I love your Marina. I hope to see it one day.
Love Marinas

No e10 in my cars!!!
@@Alexsassets Very good. Sometimes hard to get E5 in my area.
My first car was a tara green marina ❤
Good car Alex 🚗 😊

Hi i think the sun has done that to the seats
Funnily enough I've got 'beige' on my V5 for my Almond coloured P6 - think they put beige against many BL colours 🤣

Uv rays bugger them bl plastic seats 🤠
Loving the marina, is that colour harvest gold? Very good find Alex, very straight car
Yes harvest gold
I had a Ford Escort 1.3L mk2 1980V in Sable Brown Metallic.
7:09 I might get some white / grey ones like that for the zs. 😂
At 02:57 whoever "shot" the number plate must have missed the engine and not put the marina out of its misery. 😂
You also have a handbook for marina
Hello Ma'am , BL seemed to have trouble designing tailgates in the 70s , the Allegro estate was another that when wrong ! It was like we don' know what to do ! a tailgate what's that ?
😂😂
How far is the garage ? Its not round the corner as i expected. Good luck with marina
No it's a fair few miles away. 😄 but it's cheap so worth it
I still have a pair of the white karobes imitation sheepskin seat covers my grandmother said I could borrow them but would never give them to me.she died in 1986 .id never part with them
Hi Alex are you going to do anything to protect the underneath
@TroyGoodacre it's already had a 3m coating . but I will be giving it some lanogaurd type stuff as well
Dog probably scratching at back
Is your mate an Elvis impersonator?
😂 my "mate" is my partner! No he has no affiliation to elvis lol
Remi just said no, Elvis impersonated him.
I am little concerned about the number of tigers that had to be sacrificed for those seat covers. Tigers are now an endangered species in England I am led to believe 😢

I wonder how many baby sicks were mixed to make the awful paint colour🤮

03:05 "A Galaxie far away"...really? :)
It's very far away at the moment haha
You're putting Jesse J away?!!! Sad face, big sigh.
