CORRECTION: I tried some more switches, and it turns out there is still R3 north-facing interference with some. It's still less than GMK though, for example, DCX doesn't interfere with keyfirst blings or MCCs while GMK does. DCX should be safe with semi-long poles, but not with regular poles. Sorry abt that.

If Drop can up their collaboration efforts with designers and show them the respect they deserve, along with working with designers of hugely popular past sets, then I think we've got a real winner on our hands.
I mean the way this whole dcx started shows they are everything but respectful to the designers they work with. I was super interested in these until what they did to matt3o.
Agree either way i think we are winning because notice alot of good gmk alt these days. Still love gmk caps but just take way to long to get and too pricey other wise.
@@oakcctrk5649 matt seems to made up with drop though..and stated will continue to design for dcx..ultimately, even designers work for money..me as consumer find that drop (and dcx) is much more friendly to consumers than gmk..from price and leading time, dcx seems that it will be superior with both aspect..
all things considered, it's always good for us consumers to have a lot of vendors offering similar quality products..we have more choice and they have to compete at least in price to attract consumers..drop/dcx, domikey,crp, xiami, even good quality clones(ethics aside) will ultimately compete with gmk and ultimately push gmk to do better.

Sounds and looks awesome. As a European it's very tricky to choose, GMK sets are very expensive too but if you order from Drop from Europe you'll not only pay taxes based on your country's system but also you have to pay the customs fee too. If Drop would have a European distributior that would be a game changer, because for now you'll end up paying the same if not more.
Indeed, funny how some clone sets vendors from china such as yong qiu offer full european coverage (including VAT) and huge keyboard stores like drop don't...
The annoying thing is that they actually had a European warehouse. However, it was very hard to find it and the prices were higher than in the US (even factoring shipping and VAT) for some products so it was doomed to fail from the get go. I'm afraid to say that a European distributor is very unlikely.

Great video! Can you comment more on how close the colors of DCX are to GMK? Curious to see if I could get black DCX spacebars to replace some warped GMK WoB spacebars without it looking too out of place. Either way, DCX is definitely on my radar for keycaps now!
Amazing job raising awareness on the controversies surrounding companies and where our products are coming from, we should all be more aware of it.
On another note, the difference on GMK vs DCX on the Glacier was not even perceivable, I noticed a difference on the rest of the keyboards but almost nothing on the Glacier, which makes me think the sound profile will highly depend on your keyboards structure and construction, but GMK level sound profile for cheaper and sooner, sounds like a bargain to me! Still waiting for a GMK set I ordered two years ago! outrageous.

More competition to gmk is always welcome, specially if it is in stock and not gmk limited group buys that can take multiple years to complete. The sets look pretty decent and worthwhile considering imo

3:55, boards with PE foam, it doesn't matter what keycaps or switches, they all sound pretty similar.
Drop CRP R4 was delayed for months and the delays don't happen on release of a new product it's when you get multiple styles and massive group buys. Alternatives are always a great thing for hobby.

Damn that qk65 sounded clack tastic. Not sure if you have reviewed the pbtfan caps, but they look like a really good option aswell for quick turn arounds.

the only bummer is that it has no full ISO support, they bothered making every ISO key but forgot the hash/tilde key next to ISO enter

Just got the Keychron V3 last week and have been researching keycaps. Can't really justify spending more on keycaps than the keyboard itself. Even if i were to get those keycaps from Drop, i will have to pay customs too. Are the clone keycaps from Aliexpress really bad?
I personally think that the Domikey cherry series are the best option for ABS keycaps other than GMK right now in terms of quality and value. You get so much more color options with very good kitting at a very reasonable and, dare I say, affordable price (if you know where to look for). DCX will probably be good as well, and it is a great thing that there are more options out there for the community, but knowing that this comes from Drop, a company that betrays its community, makes it hard for me to personally buy anything from them anymore. Altho that GMK Serenity do be tempting
I wish the Domikey spacebars were better. They are so weird and sound so different that they make all of their sets a non-starter in my opinion.

Hey lucid, you should review DMK (Domikey) so many I stock color ways and in some ways do what GMK does better.
Really considering picking some up! They look really high quality and I have to give the designer and Drop some credit for the fair pricing and willingness to innovate in the keyboard space. They fixed almost all of the issues with GMK with almost no downsides. Great video! 🔥

The Comic Sans-esque font for the mods is such a dealbreaker for me on these DCX sets. Hopefully they update that tooling at some point.
I really hope they remove the "Enter" sublegend from the enter button, and just have the symbols. I personally really prefer the legendless keycaps. Like GMK Honey for example.
The biggest benefit I see is correct proportions for legends. For example, on GMK the ~ key legend is too large and the " key is too low. Nobody seems to care about this though. Maybe it's just my OCD.

I would argue that the quote key is in a fine spot positioned in the bottom left of lets say a quadrant like a grid and all the neighboring legends follow this same rule for alignment sake I can prove my thesis if you look at underscore key in row 1 it follows this logic as well so the quote key follows the rules of being in the correct position it just looks strange because the legs of the quote key don't extend far enough up to appease your symmetry in your mind. hope that makes some sense and I'm not rambling lol.
The ~ key has always been my favorite key in Gmk, it looks so nice. Also I don't mind the ^ at all
GMK legend positions aren't perfect, but they are still the best out of any manufacturer IMO right now. They are accurate enough that overall it doesn't bother me, even if a few keys aren't perfect.

DCX font is too thin for my taste at its current size. GMK font has always been my favorite, so clean.
I think the font is going to be the preference turnoff for a lot of folks. Personally it was a weird change since I'm so used to the GMK one
The Typeface isn't hard to change in a production stand point. It's super clean GMK and perfect. Mainly because it's very close to Helvetica Rounded LT so if you used anything like Helvetica it's very legible.

I blew $200 on GMK before and have been disappointed, brands like EPBT and AKKO have been making more compelling and better feeling Caps as of late - not on the same color range as GMK, but they are quickly getting there to GMK color level.
"AKKO better feeling than GMK", ok everyone is entitled to their opinion but it doesn't mean your opinion isn't shit.

I really like your content but can you edit your video using the proper wide resolution instead of using black bar to make it look wide? Because for me who watch the video on my phone with wide screen already, it makes the video looks weird when I'm watching it in full screen, top and bottom of my screen has these black bars that shouldn't have be there if the video is using the proper resolution. I know this is out of topic but I want to enjoy your video better.

would love it if you guys can review some Shurikey Hanzo SRK keycaps (001/002/003). I believe Shurikey is a sub brand of Varmilo, their SRK keycaps are cherry height and double shot ABS, and also around the $50 mark (at least in my region).
edit: they also "claim" that their SRK keycaps won't have north-facing cherry interference, which is pretty cool for budget builds.

The fact that it's north facing friendly is good enough for me to take this over GMK any day. The longer I'm in this hobby, the less I want GMK, and more I want more budget friendly options. Not saying GMK is bad, but the waits in GBs and price are not worth it IMO.

first I thought it was some one new producing the keycaps from the title, then it came out it's just drops abs keycaps.
It's like you are stick in the past. the only real competitor, for the price and quality is AKKO, I don't even care if most of their sets are clones, still better quality then drop sets for less money, and it's PBT, fuck abs in 2022.
