You're essentially just "confusing" the system by constantly holding in the power/reset button and then repairing any corrupted data as a result. This could end up breaking the ps3 if certain files cannot be repaired. What you should do is go to system settings under system and look for restore to factory default. Before that make sure to deactivate the ps3 associated with that system to keep your personal information safe.
