I'm curious, when you've passed the cdl test and got your license, do the cdl school offer you jobs at companies or do you have to go to the companies yourself? I'm seriously considering truck driving in Florida. I'm in NY and it's just too stressful for me.
If you go to a regular cdl school more than likely youre stuck on your own & most jobs require you to have some experience on the road already to hire you. Jobs like coke and pepsi, the food industry would take you though, then you could apply for places like usps after a year or two of experimence.. Its hard to find a local job with no experience but theres a lot of over the road work if youre willing to do that.
They don’t necessarily offer jobs guaranteed but my cdl school had like 3 companies come in and talk abt their company and their driver jobs. You would still have to apply and go through the application process but they don’t just put you in a job automatically.
The trucking job looks wayyyyy more easy than the current job I got. The current job, I literally gotta do everything. Pack, box, deliver, rush rush rush all the time. It's very stressful to me. And they don't want to hire nobody. I'm going to DMV soon to take that general knowledge test. I can't take this current job no more. It feels like a one man company.
I used to be a merchandiser for coke in NY & we werent allowed to be in shorts or sneakers like your coworker lmao I pulled up in adidas track pants once to stock a target and my supervisor almost sent me home. This job was a vibe cause i had my route, driving my own car but when they assigned hospitals or targets it was stressful asf.
@@KhariLoaded They let you know how long you’d be helping out another driver for? I never liked doing that cause the pay was just like a few dollars extra per hour while the driver made money per cases & its so much more quick paced than just having my own route as a merchandiser… The truck drivers here are trying to get home before noon lmao At least In your videos they have a normal pace
I’ll be helping until a route opens up pretty much. When a driver leave I’ll be next up. But I get a pretty good hourly rate for a 18 year old so it’s more than enough for me. Also I can control my hours. If I finish early with one driver I could just go home or I could hop in a company pickup truck and go out and “help others “ (drive around a bs)
@@KhariLoaded So when you finish a route with a driver you could decide whether to go help another driver or not lmao Here if you wanted to go home youd have to sneak into the distribution center and clock out cause if they see you come back too early they know youre getting your 8hrs guaranteed and try to send you in a uber to another driver 😭 You got your foot in the door to have trailer experience on your resume early asf thats wassup, youre really set for life lol
Yeah it’s that simple. Most of the time I go in at 5. We start the route at 6. I be off anywhere between 11-1… 2 at the latest. So after that I either just go home or stay and “help” another driver for overtime. But usually I just go home and spend time on these videos. Thanks though🤘🏾

Florida is definitely not the place. Traffic here is abysmal now and way too much road rage.
My school in Georgia offered a bunch of otr jobs. Also I think Florida one of the easiest places to drive a semi and New York the hardest.
I live in New York City myself. I am working on getting my cdl . Local seems better
Love the videos bro Keep them coming!!!
Thanks!🤘🏾👨🏾🍳

Yeah we can pretty much wear whatever we want as long as we wear the coke shirt. Hopefully I get my own route driving the trucks soon
