  • The cornea, made of protective layers in the front part of the eye, can become damaged in many ways. But don't let the name scare you as a corneal scar can be easily treated with contact lenses. Contact lenses can help bend light around the scar to improve the patient’s vision.
    For more information, visit uvahealth.com/...
Another condition that's very commonly treated with contact lenses is corneal scars, lacerations, or corneal trauma to the eye. With this condition we have irregular astigmatism due to the formation of whatever wound healing has occurred in the eye.
When you have a scar, it's an opacity and you can't see through an opacity. You have to have a clear line of sight so we can use contact lenses literally to bend light around the scar and allow the patient to see better.

I’ve worn contacts for 30 years and thought I was getting a cataract in my right eye. Turns out it’s scarring with neovascularization. I was told I had to stop wearing contacts immediately and could never wear them again. Doc told me contacts are only for people with perfect corneas 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is a horrible condition. I have had it too for about 30 months now.
At first, I would wake up once every ten days with this horrible
sensation in my right eye that felt like sand eroding my eye in the most
painful way imaginable. After quite some research I learned that this
was what was going on with my eye. The incidences became less prevalent,
eventually happening weeks apart. The only way I could treat it was
with eye drops at night (but that didn't totally stop it, it just
reduced the hours I had to deal with it every morning. What I did find
was that, if I put something warm (not too hot, but very warm) on my
eye, it reduced the pain significantly after several minutes. In the
end, I do not wish this even for my enemies. Because not even pain pills
    help for this condition

Well i got hit in my right eye with an avacado, about a few months ago. Its almost a year now and I'm still having eye flashes. I went to an optomologist and they confirmed there was a scar but they never said if its healed or in the process of healing. My vision in my left eye is worse than my right, so do you guys have any suggestions?
Edit: this isn't a corneal scar, this is a literal scar inside my eye on the retina

I have a scar on my lens, left eye, right in the middle of my sight. It takes a chunk out of whatever I look at but luckily I have two eyes. I'm also trying to find out if there is a way to fix this. I've had my damage for a little over 15 years now.

Hello, I had cross eye link surgery back in 2017 at Kaiser Hospital in CA to stop the progression of the keratoconus(astigmatism).Shortly after I enlisted in the Navy only to get discharge due to scarring in the cornea due to the procedure that left me a a little bit of a haze, Navy doctor said to take surgery to remove the scar.
After coming back home I approached the Kaiser doctor and he said there is no such thing as a procedure that can do that and I was wondering if that is true? is there really anything out there that could remove the haze? I will get an evaluation next week from a doctor from Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto CA.

I saw something from UA-cam about Trans-PTK, maybe you should look into it? I am trying to find a doctor who will perform trans-PTK in Southern California too.
