Any sort of FNF fandom that doesn't involve some notable mod devs have been garbage for a while now. There's a reason scroll speed is an option there. The developers aren't going to force it upon the players and let them figure it out (unless you want to challenge yourself). Not everyone has superb reaction times to prepare for the very fast upcoming notes. Acai is built different as he's played Guitar Hero a _very_ long time and can hit notes on reaction really well. But the Tricky fight was meant to discourage mashing at Phase 3 and (especially the) unlockable 4th song since most players pass it using that method. Again though, not everyone plays the same nor do they share the same skill floor/ceiling. Anyways, it's nice you enjoyed the mod, Acai. Don't think much of the FNF fans and you'll have a good time.
In terms of rhythm games and options, there's a reason options are there. To customize the player experience. If people are mad over that, that's their issue. Btw, scroll speed doesn't equal difficulty. Sure, a huge part of the "difficulty" of Expurgation are the death notes. Not having a lot of time to react mean you hit those notes more often, bit on lower scroll speeds, it's less about reaction and more about an obstacle to traverse. Both are valid ways to play.
I can't expect Acai's chat to be super well-versed in all Rhythm games, since he's known for Clone Hero. that said, it's p a i n f u l l y clear none of them have ever touched a 4k mania type game for more than like, 5 minutes. Scroll speed's really cool in that it's not just a customization and preference option, but effectively changes what type of player you are. People that are really proficient in these games have different scroll speeds, but it doesn't change the difficulty, but it does change the *type* of difficulty. High scroll speed players have to react quickly, but after the muscle memory is worked out, they have a lot more visual clarity for hitting the notes, and timing them. Slow scroll speed players may not have to react quickly with reflexes, but they have the luxury of having a sea of notes on screen at a time, that they have go read and decipher the order, while also timing everything as it flows into the slots like molasses. They're different types of difficulty, but they're both at the same level.
As a 4k stepmania player, i can point that scroll speed changes a lot the type of difficult, depending on the song it can be easy or hard, in that case it changed to easy because the time of reaction but in a note spam chart, the faster the scroll speed the easier it gets, but yes, for me he didn't played legit since the obstacle of the song is exactly the reaction time but that is my opinion
@@davidk7439 as a continuation, many do perfer different scroll speeds. For Stepmania, I'm a 500-550 kinda person, but some people just need to read slower or perfer to read slower because of said sea of notes, and that's dope, you do you, but because I can't read that slow stream of notes, therefore I need to play at a faster speed. If it's too fast for you, slowing it down may help you out in the long run. Of course, trying things out of your comfort zone will always be benifical, but when it's like 700 speed, yea no. Chip away at it over time and you'll eventually land on the 700 spectrum.
I think turning down the difficulty in favor of having actual fun is reasonable in any game. Plus scroll speed isn't exactly equal to difficulty (unlike ghost tapping). Having a high scroll speed can make it a lot harder and i hate it when mods do that because then you've just gotta rely on you reaction times instead of actually being good at rhythm games. Do whatever you want as long as you enjoy it.
Faster scroll = reaction time required Slower scroll = multi-tasking required There legit is a change of type of difficulty. If he finds multitasking easier there is no problem.
Rhythm gamer turns down scroll speed in order to make dumb speed actually readable, still hitting the same notes at the same speed??!?!???!??! (not clickbait)
he has more time to process the instakills, the notes getting hit the same is alright because thats how it is for all rythm games but specifically for tricky it makes it easier lol
Fnf mods are chock full of outright artificial difficulty and cheese, yet people wonder why fnf and it's community is hated with such a burning passion by 99% of people, rhythm gamers especially Small edit: it actually makes me genuinely sad to see theres kids in the chat who are getting genuinely enraged by acai turning the garbage default scroll speed down

In my opinion it really breaks the terror of hitting the halo notes. The people who made this aren't really evil to the point where they spammed it everywhere. There's barely in the beginning where most of them are in beginning or end of your turn ( there's literally just some placed out notes during the hold notes in the midway where Tricky yells Hank) only the end part was really hard because they increase the number of notes to avoid and start putting some of them in between normap notes. As evil as the final stretch looks like, it actually isn't as hard if you remember that the first notes of this whole song is the same as the ending and all you literally have to do is tap them again without missing most of them.
The scroll speed thing is going to get more flak because it actually changes how the game looks. I don't think most fnf viewers care about the actual skill involved; they just want to see you do the thing the way you are "supposed" to.
It shocks me that people get upset at a game, especially when others play it differently. I'll say this, if it's in the settings and it's allowed to be changed then the game ALLOWS you to do it. Even if it means changing the songs scroll speed.

People complaining about speed mods? In 2021? On god? Note: mods and bar play were argued about in the early DDR community, so kinda just a weird flashback, though the fact that dropping the speed instead of increasing it is the argument is kinda surreal 🤣
The Tricky mod is probably the best mod because there is no cringe ass "i'm gonna break ur body" anime character oc talkin it up between songs only to get absolutely deleted. Also has a greater sense of scale and danger against the challenger since clown looks like he can actually fuck something up. Also the songs shred.
To be fair, it's a rhythm game. It's about characters talking a big game and then losing to the beep boy. There doesn't really need to be a sense of danger to it, considering it's mostly rap battles. Hell, in the real game there's only one character with a sense of danger, and that's Tank Man.
@@sinfulbehaviors2004 that's not his point. A lot of mods have OCs that are supposed to be powerful, but really aren't. Really hurts the experience. note scroll speed is something that has always made charts exponentially harder for me personally since I've always had actually disgustingly low reaction speed, lower scroll speed for me equates to an infinitly easier map and makes me have more fun than "wow I physically cannot hit these unless I actually memorize the map note by note and get the rhythm perfect "
Even ignoring the fact that people can play on whatever the heck note speed they want, I always found FNF, Stepmania etc harder at higher speeds because the notes scrolling straight down instead of at an angle means they take up more space on the screen and it’s a little harder (for some people, myself included) to focus on a wider area of the screen. Rock Band and Clone Hero take up less screen real estate and are at an angle so it’s easier to process even at higher speeds, and even something like DJMAX RESPECT, which is presented similarly to FNF, is easier because notes aren’t huge and they don’t travel right from the top to the bottom of the screen. But that’s just me I suppose. Either way, people who whine about note speeds have never played a rhythm game themselves. You do you dude
Acai: "Why is ghost tapping off? Because I'm not afraid to play a hard song." Acai in literally the same video: "aw shit you cant turn down the scroll speed" quick edit: no hate to the man himself, i just found this a bit funny. i couldnt care less about whether he changes it or not. i get it
"He's playing a chart that's blocks upcoming notes, drags his health bar down, and throws insta-kill notes, how dare he lower the scroll speed so that he can read it properly!!" It's almost like the reason for scroll speed options in rhythm games is to make charts readable for the PLAYER.
This is why I barely watch LPs anymore. It’s like there’s usually a loud minority of people who tell someone how to play. One person’s experience with a game will be completely different from someone else’s, and that’s OK! Video games are meant to be enjoyed by diverse groups of people, and forcing them to play a specific way to get specific results just ruins the whole thing. Ironically enough, some of those who tell others how to play the game haven’t played it themselves!
fwiw, I always try on the "default" note speed - I think it's the most "cinematic" and generally the dev's or charter's "intended" note speed. I think a higher note speed *generally* makes the game harder....but then there's the opposite where super low can make it likewise harder. They're both, well, difficult to read. And I think, sometimes, that's designed to be part of the challenge. Because of that, I *do* think changing the note speed because it's hard to read "is baby," but at the end of the day, it's a game, you should have fun, and "baby" is okay. And honestly lower (or higher) note speed is a completely valid option for practice even if you think it's not "legit." But also, theoretically speaking... if you manage to memorize the whole chart, the note speed *doesn't matter at all.* So maybe that just invalidates my entire opinion.
To be fair, it does meaningfully change the difficulty of a chart with a gimmick where you have to have to react to avoid a specific note. A slower scroll makes it easier to avoid said notes since you have longer to react. Nothing against doing it, I myself am so shit at rhythm games I had a hard enough time getting through normal base fnf, but it's disingenuous to say it does "nothing meaningful to the difficulty" of this particular case.
@@thatrandom_canadian And yet a slow scroll speed would severely fuck up your tempo on note reads and make the mines a lingering problem you have to multitask around. This is a mechanic designed and used for slower charts more often than not.
@@Sarahsqueak because slower chart relies less on reaction speed. not everyone is good in that department and that's okay. not everyone is gonna have 150ms reaction of an esports player. that is something you need to consistently train and that is something that naturally worsens with age too.

Why are people upset at the scroll speed being slower? It's still the same song, just moving slower. The inputs are the exact same >.>; It might be some misconception about Rhythm Games that things going fast = hard
Scroll speed is more a matter of personal preference and accessibility rather than something that’s meant to be part of the difficulty. Just like how for controls some people prefer arrow keys, some people prefer WASD, some people prefer DFJK, and so on, it’s also the case that for scroll speeds some people like it slower and some people like it faster. Slower is easier to react to but harder to read. Faster is harder to react to but easier to read.

Chat is just a bunch of salty people who can't pass songs and justify doing "hard" stuff as the legit way.
stay malding chat.
you could also say that the payoff for lower speed is that the road signs cover more notes

Expurgation (and to a lesser extent, HELLCLOWN) is kind of a rare exception to the usual unspoken rules of scroll speed, mostly because of its use of "mines". Part of the actual difficulty in Expurgation is the combination of the mines plus a default scroll speed of roughly 3.5 or so, as opposed to the actual chart itself. Coupled with the distractions thrown in, it creates a difficult chart. When you lower the scroll speed, you remove a lot of that difficulty (albeit unintentionally) because there is no longer a need to worry about the mines when you have ample time to process them coming and avoid them, as opposed to having to anticipate them and avoid them.
That difference is huge when it comes to the difficulty of the chart. The distractions also lose some of their effectiveness when the scroll speed is lower, as well, thus making them less of an issue (yet another drop in difficulty). It just so happens that Expurgation (and to a lesser extent, HELLCLOWN) is a rare exception where the scroll speed actually matters a great deal.
It did kinda break it but whatever
Why are acais facial expressions the same as bf while watching the cutscenes
The scroll speed thing is going to get more flak because it actually changes how the game looks. I don't think most fnf viewers care about the actual skill involved; they just want to see you do the thing the way you are "supposed" to.
It shocks me that people get upset at a game, especially when others play it differently.
I'll say this, if it's in the settings and it's allowed to be changed then the game ALLOWS you to do it. Even if it means changing the songs scroll speed.

note scroll speed is something that has always made charts exponentially harder for me personally since I've always had actually disgustingly low reaction speed, lower scroll speed for me equates to an infinitly easier map and makes me have more fun than "wow I physically cannot hit these unless I actually memorize the map note by note and get the rhythm perfect "
if 1 is the default speed and 0.1 is the slowest, what note speed would you play at? im curious because you call your reaction time slow lol
@@iliketoast3211 its 300 ms type slow

Still a really good play no matter what though
fwiw, I always try on the "default" note speed - I think it's the most "cinematic" and generally the dev's or charter's "intended" note speed.
And honestly lower (or higher) note speed is a completely valid option for practice even if you think it's not "legit."
But also, theoretically speaking... if you manage to memorize the whole chart, the note speed *doesn't matter at all.* So maybe that just invalidates my entire opinion.

considering he wasn’t able to beat it without the lower speed, clearly it does something meaningful to the difficulty.
